This is the absolute worst company ever. I've been on hold for an hour and a half waiting for a supervisor. This company gives you the run around. They have no courtesy email system in place to let you know that you're running out of propane. I have 6 children and it's been two days without heat and hot water. Would give them 0 stars if that was possible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They have let my tank run empty 4 times in a row now, this means no heat, hot water, or cooking. Twice in the winter they let it run completely empty which is dangerous for household members and piping, and then they cost my wife her flight to the airport because they came 4 hours before they said they would and we were told we had to be there when they were filling it. Her and i had to pay an extra 200$ for a new flight. If youre not there, good luck because amerigas will not come back to light the pilots. So even if they refill your tank, you have to light the pilots yourself or you can not use the gas. If you are present the technician will do it but you have to ask. I had a manager offer me 100 dollars off for the inconveniencethey continue to cause me, they did not give me the 100 they offered. The fourth time they told me that was not even an option. I did the math, they've cost me an extra 1200-2000$ by letting it run out everytime. If they had filled it at the appropriate level, all four times summed up wouldve been about 1600 or 2000 if you add an extra fifth time. They DO NOT care about the customer or the liabilities because either way they are getting their money. I am leaving this company when everything opens up after the holiday. After years of struggling with Amerigas, something has definitely changed for the better! My past three orders have been delivered almost instantaneously. I didn't have to call their dreadful centralized customer service department and speak to someone totally unmotivated and uninformed. The order was placed and the gas arrived within two days without any fuss. I do realize this is a very low bar for success but... it is what it is. Would I recommend Amerigas to anyone looking for propane service in the desert? I'm not sure about that since you'd still be dealing with that sinkhole of a customer service department if you needed any help but as far as delivery goes things look to be improving. read more

I noticed that the technician was in my toolbox with my wrenches in his hand, and the wrench drawer open. My toolbox is 200 feet from the propane tank and inlet. I must have startled him. I asked him if those were my wrenches. He said no. Two of my wrenches were taken by him. Right in front of me. I let the company know this. Nothing was done about it at all. Worst customer service experience of all time. My propane ran out on Thursday night and I was supposed to have automatic deliveries. I called first thing Friday and the woman I spoke to told me they'd get it taken care of by the end of the day. I called back multiple times later in the day when I didn't get any follow up confirmation if it would deliver that day, the following day on Saturday or Monday. Each foreign call center person I spoke to gave me a masterclass run around saying it would be delivered by end of day or put me on hold to nowhere. At the very last opportunity to call I finally got someone to tell me it wasn't coming until Monday but that they'd do what they could to get me on Saturday. Saturday came and I called to just see if it was coming then or Monday and got put on hold for a solid hour to speak to someone who could actually tell me - that it wasn't coming on until Monday. Monday came and so did the delivery or at least the truck, which I chased down the road as I saw it leaving. He told me the last time they filled the tank they made it inoperable to refill it and didn't note it on my account. Of course he didn't knock on the door to tell me that I had to call customer service to have it repaired some days later and filled some days after. Obviously I've switched to the local company. So far I've talked to a local person who got me immediately on the schedule. read more

I have contacted Amerigas numerous times and have been told by 3 separate representatives that they would "open an investigation" regarding a leak and outrageous bill. Then never hear back. My husband has also contacted them and was told there was no record of an investigation nor a request for one. I refuse to pay for their mistake! This has been the absolute worst experience we have ever had.with a company! As of now, our bill is close to a thousand dollars and we are being charges late fee consistently because of their errors. We received an email regarding "new terms" but never a resolution to our immediate needs. I believe there will be a lawsuit in their near future! read more

Amerigas took over for G&K Propane and has been the most unprofessional, unethical business to deal with.  They tell you what the charge is, you pay, then they send additional invoices for additional charges.  The invoice for tank rental is tacked on surreptitiously then they begin to assess usurious rates of late fees.  The only way I was able to contact anyone there was by chat.  Their 800 number is all recordings.   Leaving a message does nothing.  This is just billing issues.  Trying to deal with them on fuel orders is just as terrible, as you can't talk to an actual person when you need to. I'd steer clear away from this company.  There are others like Hi Desert Propane that are more transparent and straight forward in how they deal with their customers. read more

The good - friendly delivery driver. The bad - everything else! A few weeks ago they came by to fill my tank, the bill seemed high - so I logged into my account to see what the per gallon price is (this was not shown on the emailed invoice). To access my account I had to accept an updated contract by checking a box. The link to read the contract did not work (maybe pop up blocked? I don't know) So I clicked the box and after digging a bit saw that I was charged $4.99/gallon. I called local providers - they were all around $2.70! So, I called Amerigas. This is ALWAYS a pain because they have an overseas call center where friendly people ONLY provide you info you could find yourself. I was on the phone for about 30 minutes and left with NO explanation of why they were charging close to twice the going rate - and NO offers to speak with anyone else. No I learn the new contract stipulates a $300 tank pick up charge! Also the contract stipulates they provide market based pricing (which is a crock) - I will use this as an argument NOT to pay the $300. Now I wonder if they are angling to lose customers in areas where they don't have a big marketshare? Either way they win - overpay OR pay $300 for them to pick up their tank. BTW - no one else here charges to remove their tanks. RUN don't walk from this company! Find a local supplier with local call center. read more

The worst customer service. I rent so I unfortunately have had to dealt with them for the last 4 years. Every time I call to deal with one of the many many issues, I am transferred from person to person who have no clue what they're doing. It ruins my whole entire day every time I have to deal with them. But interestingly enough they're great at taking the money out of my account asap when I request a delivery! We reported a gas leak twice. First time, the technician said he didn't find a leak and filled up the tank for which we paid for and the second time within two months it emptied while we weren't there and didnt use it at all. A new technician came out and confirmed there was a leak and filled up the tank and again after fixing the leak. However, it was never reported and they still charged. We are getting the runaround on this as the technician who fixed the leak said that we won't be charged since there was a leak. Clearly, nobody is doing their job properly and putting us in danger! Unreliable. Corporate customer service 1-800 is your only means of communication and the communication between corporate and local vendor seems to be lacking. Overall, local AmeriGas needs to get with the times of digital monitoring and better communication with customers. Canceled service with them and I'm so happy we did. No more stress. read more

When Amerigas bought out our local provider, G&K, they discontinued all local customer support and increased prices. Requested service calls, such as a leak-check, now cost $250; other providers do this for free. There is no local office open to the public, and their customer support line is an automated system. Amerigas made a mistake in June and charged a neighbor's $700+ propane refill to our account. Ultimately, we were able to get them to reverse the charge, after 3 months of emails, phone calls, multiple past-due notices, and hours of talking to reps. To be fair, I don't fault the phone reps; several were polite, professional, and wanted to help, but they have no power to assist. I blame Amerigas Corp's customer service policies & practices; they're very poor and ineffective in our area. read more

The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. The phone communication is unbelievably long and frustrating. The representatives are from another country and hard to understand. They promised me a delivery within 7 to 10 days. It too 18 days and meanwhile my propane tank was empty. At least 5 or 6 times they promised to communicate with me on the arrival of the delivery. They never communicated once. The driver was supposed to call me when they were 2 hours away from the delivery time. He never called. It is my last dealing with AmeriGas. I requested a refill on a 250 gallon tank when it was at 25%, AmeriGas missed their delivery 4 days later, the tank was at 6%. I submitted an emergency request, AmeriGas then missed their scheduled emergency delivery even after promising it will "definitely be there today." My guests were stranded without hot water or the ability to cook food and it all cost me $1K in refunds, and of course, a poor review which affects my future business. read more

I used Amerigas for 16 years. During that time, I always had automatic deliveries. Over the past year I started having problems. They started changing my delivery request from automatic to will call, every month. The third month, I had it! I had a credit of 400.00. And they told me that in order for me to fill my tank the fourth time I had to pay an additional 1100.00. I paid it, then became so angry about the whole situation, that I cancelled and changed to Hi-Desert Propane. Amerigas was supposed to refund my money within 30 days. 4 months later, they still have not refunded my money, they told me it will take another 30 days. Terrible company to use in the Big Bear Valley. After they bought out Thomas Gas, their service and billing deteriorated. They will nickel and dime you to death, with high yearly service charges, even if they are never out to provide any service. Beware of their contract which is entirely in their favor. They know full well you do not have a choice. You don't sign their contract they will not provide service. And when you are fortunate enough to be able to switch to natural gas, they will charge you $150 to remove their tank, their property on which they have been charging yearly lease fees, from your property. How absurd is that? Do whatever you can to avoid using this company. I truly would give them a negate review if possible. I feel the techs are qualified and descent people, but unfortunately work for a company that has no interest in their customers. read more

I ordered a fill 10 days ago - they took the money out of my account that same day, and still no delivery. After a long wait on the phone, I was told they couldn't tell me when a delivery might be made. The rep apologized several times, but could not assist me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor the line went dead. Do NOT do business with these people. We are on day 5 without gas. They have said since Friday that they would bring it by end of day. We call every single day and the hotline keeps saying by end of day and never does. And when we get though to a person they say the next day. But then it never comes again. I can not believe the level of unprofessional and downright lies and negligence. I gave Amerigas 1 star but they deserve zero stars! This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered! Every time I call with questions I get someone in a foreign country who cannot even speak good broken English and every time they tell me to go online. Well, I did go online and followed their instructions and I also followed the instructions of a person working online who gave me the same info about billing but I did that and it did not work. After 2 hours of working on the phone and computer, nothing got resolved. Why even have people answer the phone when all they can say is to go online and I went online and the info they gave me did not work. Now they tell customers they are charging 2.65% for customers who use a credit card to pay for deliveries ! All I was trying to do was change my payment method. No human could help me and the people working there did not care. As of today, I am looking for a new provider. Do not do business with this company ! You will regret it. My next-door neighbor just switched from Amerigas to another company and she had a lot to say about AmeriGas none of it good! read more

Once they had me install a their propane tank that they rent to me when I requested a refill, my price was almost 2 times my initial fill price per gallon at $4.31/gallon. The regional average price is $2.28/ gallon and when I asked what my price would be 3 days after they quoted $3.60/gallon when their competitor was $2.15/gallon If you rent their tank you are going to be ripped off. When we purchased our home, the propane was supplied by G&K and we were very happy with their service and pricing. When Amerigas swallowed G&K the service became abominable. In Dec 2020 their delivery driver determined the tank was leaking, did not fill it, red tagged it and directed us to stop using propane (not really an option). No service call was arranged by Amerigas to service the tank. I made multiple calls, got multiple promises but no one showed. Finally I called it in as an emergency leak and a tech showed, simply tightened a fitting and said we were good to go. He said someone would be out immediately to fill the tank. No one showed tank was down to under 10% before the day before the Christmas weekend. We feared we'd run low and had to reduce our use of the heater and ovens. After Christmas some finally delivered. No one apologized for their ineptitude. For these reasons I chose to switch to another propane supplier. When I cancelled our Amerigas service I was told they would pick up the tank within 14 days. Fourteen days went by, no one showed up for the tank. I called in again and was told they'd be here the following Tuesday. No one showed. I called a third time and was told no one had put it on the schedule and now that it was some one would be out on a date two weeks later. This time they showed up and removed the tank. Today I received a bill of $180 for tank removal. Outrageous. Worst business I have EVER dealt with in my 73 years. read more

Im giving America's a 1. This company used to be a 6 out of 5 company but ever since they outsourced their customer phone service to Asia they lost me as a customer. I bought a property with their tank on it so I called to have it filled. The delivery guy ( who was top notch ) said there is a leak in the line and couldn't fill it. So I was told I still would have to pay the 100 bucks for the delivery. No problem, send me a bill. As I mentioned to the driver that I don't live at the property and any bill should be sent to my P.O. Box. I never got a bill so I assumed they weren't charging. A couple of months ago I got a text from America's to go to a link. I was shocked to see that I owed 509 bucks. I called the number and was told I was being charged a rental fee for the tank. I never seen or signed any contract or rental terms. I asked why I didn't receive a bill and was told they sent it to the address where tank is located. I said I don't get mail there so I imagine any bill sent there would be sent back . I asked why didn't they send me a text earlier and didn't get an answer. I asked them to send me a copy of any contract or agreement for the tank rental . I've been waiting three weeks and still haven't received a bill or copy of contract. At the end of the phone call I asked them to remove their tank from my property so I wouldn't be charged anymore rental cost. First, they said I had to pay the 500 before they remove the tank. By this time I'm mad, frustrated and in disbelief of what I'm being told. I then demanded they remove their tank immediately. I was told they will. Three weeks later the tank is still here. I don't know how much money Amerigas saves by out sourcing the customer service, but I bet I'm not the only person boycotting them because of lousy customer care phone service. I would leave zero stars if I could. I had been trying to call to set up delivery, and it took over 2 hours of waiting just to speak to somebody. Admittedly, I waited too long to fill my tank and it got pretty low so I had to pay an exorbitant fee to get propane delivered within 72 hours. Now here I am, 76 hours after making the order and they have not delivered. I called back to check on the order, was made to wait another 90 minutes on hold and learned that they didn't apply the previously mentioned exorbitant fee toward our delivery, but just credited it to our account which was already paid in full. The person on the phone was unfortunately quite unhelpful, and when I asked when I could expect the delivery to take place, she put me back on hold for another hour until their system disconnected me. So here I am on hold again with an expected 82 minute wait time. They have ruined 2 days of my life and I will never forgive them. I cannot wait to change propane companies. read more

The lady did say she would remove the late fee since they didn't have a forwarding address. I asked if this has always been a policy to charge an account closure fee? I have nothing good to say about this propane company. After Amerigas took over G&K Propane, the service went downhill. I was on the autofill plan and still they let my propane tank run dry over the winter. It took over a week to get it refilled - a week without heat and gas to cook. Then the next year they did autofill the day I moved out before the account was switched to the new owner. I called to let them know what happened. The customer service representative said I would get a credit for the refill plus the existing amount that was in the tank. A new bill would be sent and the balance would show the credit. I asked if I needed to do anything else. She said "No". A month later the bill is still showing up on my account. I called again and was told the same thing. Two months later the charges were still there. I called again and got a case number this time. They said that a "dedicated team" would examine the charges and call me back. They never did. Then I received a past due notice. I called a fourth time to explain the situation and they said, "sorry you have to pay it." This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.
