Tried to call, since my insurance company reached out about non payment from my escrow account. I've been transferred 3 times so far, on hold, killing time so figured I'd wright a review about my experience so far. The representatives on the other side seem like they have no knowledge or experience with loans, or what's going on. They can't even transfer me to the right department. And I thought Newrez and Shellpoint were bad! I had 2 loans transferred from those other companies to Amerihome. This company is apparently so understaffed that you can't get through to a live person. When you call, they put you through an endless array of choices, each one leading to a rabbit-hole of more choices. And in between these choices they make you listen to ads and useless notices. Finally, when I got to a recording that said press 7 to speak to a customer service rep the recording stated that, due to heavy call volume, they could not take my call. Click. Unfortunately, I don't think any of us has the option of what company will service our mortgages; but this is one of the worst I've experienced. read more

They sent me a letter saying that I owed about $1200 in escrow shortage. They wanted to add $200 a month for the next year in my payment to cover it. But, doing the math, I called them and wanted to pay off the shortage. I did that, but they still wanted my March payment that reflected the additional amount as if I hadn't paid the shortage in full. Even talked to a supervisor... Loren Flores, and she wouldn't accept my March payment allowing for the fact that I paid off the escrow shortage. Feels like a scam read more

2 years ago (2022) my mortgage was sold to Amerihome. The first year with them there was no problem. Then in summer of 2023 they emptied my escrow, didn't pay my summer taxes, and sent me the check to me to do it myself. This also reduced my Mortgage so no escrow was taken out. I called them, told them the issue, and sent the check back. They then raised my escrow by almost $300 a month ($200 more than the original amount) claiming that my escrow had to have a minimum of twice the original amount in escrow in case taxes increase. Never had a mortgage company do that so I called them. They stood by what they said. So after 1 year of making those payments my mortgage got sold to a new company. They did a re evaluation of my escrow and found I was indeed being overcharged. They sent me a check and lowered my payment back down to where it should have been at the start of my loan. I had to get a second job at one point to pay for the tax increase because the people at this company were so bad at their jobs. Can you afford to be with a company that does this to people? read more

Refi was supposed to be no money down, then they messed up my social security number and asked me for extra information to confirm who I am. How do you get my social wrong when you need me to recite it to you just for you to talk to me on the phone. So then they changed my discloser agreement 5 times and saying I now had closing cost. Then to top it all all my first month Payment was supposed to be my down payment with no payment the following month low and behold when I get to closing it's closing cost on top of my monthly payment already payed and they want me to start payment with out the month of no payment. Can't trust Phil or Hailey on anything they say. read more

I have over 7K in my escrow account they won't refund me. I'm a veteran who doesn't pay property taxes and they have proof from the county and because they know it's not a good time to refi they are holding my money hostage. Disgusting! I didn't pick them! My mortgage was sold to them and that should be illegal. We should be allowed to pick who we finance with. read more

Complain on Yelp is useful. Nichole reviewed my case and did a good job explaining my mortgage payment. If they could do it in the first place, I wouldn't leave a complaint here. My mortgage was with AmeriHome and was refinanced in late January. In January before I decided to refinance, I made the full payment for Feb in advance. So when my loan was paid off, this February installment is supposed to be refunded. However, the interest portion of Feb. installment was never returned to me. Regarding this matter, I contacted the customer service of the mortgage company (AmeriHome) since early April and made countless phone calls, but they never gave me any explanation. I submitted a complaint on CFPB and they finally send me a response letter. They admitted that they received my February installment but they still claim no servicing error on their side. Their customer experience manager Katie Black left me a phone number for me to contact. But guess what, no one ever answered my call. read more

Open to editing this review if this issue is resolved but off to a really bad start with Amerihome. We got our tax statement from the county and were told our mortgage company, in this case AmeriHome, should be taking care of it. We have called several times and continue to get in touch with people who we cannot understand, who are not able to answer our questions, and who are not telling us if they have our taxes under control. The county who issues the statement said they have no record of Amerihome being associated and that it's the mortgage company's responsibility to make that happen. We now owe our taxes, and have thousands in our escrow account, but no way of connecting the dots because we cannot have a simple discussion with the people at Amerihome. How are we supposed to get our taxes paid or get our refund for all the extra money we put in escrow? We still don't know what to do. We will probably have to pay late fees on our taxes, which is extremely upsetting. read more

My mortgage was sold to AmeriHome in spring of 2023. In December, I received a letter stating that an analysis of my escrow account revealed that I had overpaid escrow during closing and according to the state of MD, these funds are to be returned to me and would follow under separate cover. I still haven't received the check despite calling once a month since January. On today's call, the representative told me that my their records show my escrow funds were short and I wasn't entitled to the $655 they had originally said I was due. My ONLY recourse is to send a letter to the president. I agree with Ava L, this is criminal and I will be following up with the letter to the president as well as the Better Business Bureau. read more

Honestly, if I could make this review without adding a star I would. Let me just start this off by saying any time you call customer service with any questions they don't care, all they're going to do is follow along with the script and not put any effort into helping. Second, they love claiming they "never received" the documents you sent. They will put you in a constant loop of mess causing you to get further behind. They take your monthly payments and just put them in other places and do not say a thing to you until you get a statement that your bill supposedly wasn't paid. They love to jack your mortgage payment up 600 plus dollars with no warning or explanation why. Whatever you DO NOT use this company it is complete chaos and absolutely ridiculous. read more

I received a letter from AmeriHome today stating they now have my loan. Once I located the link to find my loan on their website, registering my account was super easy and worked the first time! I selected paperless communication, confirmed my info, added my payment account and setup autopay all in under 10 minutes! By the professional looks and functionality of their website, I've very pleased to know they have my loan. Here's to years of partnership (until I sell and move to New Zealand)! read more

AmeriHome was absolutely HORRIBLE! My mortgage was due on the 1st every month and they didn't charge me until a week later and they charged me late fees for 3 months straight. This resulted in them not accepting auto pay from me anymore and then they said I could only mail in my payment. I mailed in a check and was never told that they wouldn't not accept it and never told that they didn't receive my payment. I was then charged double my mortgage and they said I could only pay through money order or cashiers check. I sent in a cashiers check for the doubled mortgage amount to solve the situation then a couple days later they accepted not only the cashiers check but also the regular check. This totally screwed over my husband and I and when I called they were no help and there was no consistency in what these people were saying. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! read more

A garbage company. We have been trying to assume a loan for months and their loan assumptions department has not assisted the buyer or seller in our situation. They don't have a number. They only communicate via email and the emails are automated or someone claiming their "too busy". Months and no help and each sides are likely going to have to resort to other options. Our house was sold and paid off 12/9/2020. OVER THREE MONTHS LATER they STILL have NOT reported to the credit bureaus!. Calls to them for answers are just b.s. no real answers or explanation, promised a call back, nothing, and the worst customer service, was hung up on TWICE!. We filed a dispute with the bureaus and was told today their so called research dept is looking into it. REALLY!!? I stated to 3rd person on phone they need to escalate this to someone that can and WILL get this reported IMMEDIATELY, she hung up on me. We cannot wait ANOTHER 30 days, that would be 4 MONTHS not shown!. We have an offer on a house and this is horrible, as lender won't go forward until reports shows paid off!. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. 1. It takes hours to get through to anyone. And when you do their representatives are not capable to handle any issues. They completely jacked up my escrow account. They told me I had well over $7K+ what was needed to pay taxes. So they sent me a check. I called to double check that they actually received my taxes and they said yes and all this was correct. I felt something was off, so I called again. And again the representative told me everything was fine, I had enough in escrow to pay my taxes and ensured me my payment would not go up. HA. I just received a message that my mortgage payment will be going up $1,200 a month. $1,200!!! This is insane and we can not afford that. I want to send the money back but I'm a first time home buyer and have no idea how to do this. There is zero reason all of this should have gotten so messed up. ZERO. Would give them ) stars if I could. Very unprofessional and extremely poor customer service. Company decided to sell off our loan, but never notified us. Got emails and letters from a new mortgage company and, thinking they were scams, ignored them. When we contacted Amerihome, we were told that they had informed us by mailing a letter 2 weeks before the next payment was due. That's it, one letter. When I called in to talk to them, I had to call 3 different phone numbers all which were answered by a computer that sent me round and round for over 30 minutes. When I called the 3rd number, and finally got a human to talk to, I had to provide my name, birthday, email. address, SS#, phone number and Account number, just to get an answer to my question, but to inform us that our pretty sizable home loan had been transferred to a different financial institution, a single letter in the mail was all they thought was necessary. read more

This is the worst mortgage company. My mother just bought a new home and her mortgage is with Amerihome. She has tax exempt status with our municipality that has been in place for years as she is a disabled veteran. Amerihome did not call our municipality to confirm her tax exempt status. Instead, a lie was made up and said she has "partial status" - which does not even exist. Our municipality has no record of them calling. They even said they receive this complaint about them before. We have called Amerihome multiple times who claim they cannot pursue the matter any further. There is no way foe us to call the correct department because -- THEY DONT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER! Our municipality is will to provide whatever documentation they need, but Amerihome is not willing to do the right thing. Please do not go with this company. If you have an issue there is no way for you to reach someone in the correct department. We really regret going with Amerihome. Please don't make the same mistake. This is particularly frustrating as a veteran of the US Navy. I wish I could give ZERO stars. read more

So AmeriHome can't figure out my new home insurance with USAA. The 3rd party website mycoverageinfo used by AmeriHome has the correct policy number, but AmeriHome keeps using a old policy number. Should be a minus 10. Stay away from this company. I have not made one payment as yet but already received negative results from this company. I recently refinanced and amerihome bought my loan. My first mortgage payment is in about a week and I still haven't received any payment coupon or statement as of today 10/23/2020. I called their customer service. First representative can't find my account and puts me back in the queue. I'm on hold for another 10 minutes. The second representative finds my account number but that's as far as he his willing to help me. I asked if he can help me set up online payment. He asked me if I visited the company website. I asked if he could help me. He just continued to just give me the website. Then hung up on me I had no choice but you sould STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! read more

Update: still 1-star service. I called today to take care of a different issue. I navigate the menu and get put on hold, with the recorded voice saying they are experiencing high call volumes because of coronavirus. I wait around 10 minutes and get through to an associate. He lets me know he can't help me right now because his system is upgrading. Well, ok... then why are you taking my call if your system isn't working? He asks if he can transfer me to someone else; I say fine. He transfers me and I half-expect to hear another associate come on the line to assist me. Note that I only half-expect this because it's AmeriHome. Under normal circumstances, with a normal business, I would fully expect to get transferred immediately to someone who can help me. Well, lucky me, I get put back into the queue, back to the menu I had originally come from. I simply ended the call at this point. To recap: I get put on hold, an associate comes on the line to tell me he can't help me, and I subsequently get put back at the end of the queue. If AmeriHome were any other business, where customers could walk away at will, this company would cease to exist. Edit: I've now come to realize that my assumption above is likely incorrect. AmeriHome continues to operate because I'm not the customer. I'm the product. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! I have been trying since March to get my escrow account corrected. Found out today, the "analysis" has "never been submitted" despite 6 phone calls over the past several months. Worse, I accepted their forbearance offer due to COVID-19 and now cannot qualify for another mortgage until I have 6 months of payment history after the end of the forbearance period. Amerihome NEVER disclosed this to me when I accepted the offer. So, I can't even refinance to get away from this TERRIBLE mortgage company. This has to be some breach of fiduciary responsibly, but the "service" representative I spoke with this afternoon wouldn't even transfer me to a manager. Now, they've given themselves 3 "business" days for me to wait for some "manager's" call. WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY EVER. The various reviews on all the different platforms speak for themselves. Corona Virus has hit us hard. Most mortgage companies and helping people with deferring their monthly payments. Many friends and family tell me to check because their mortgage has been put on hold and deferred. I contacted Amerihome and they said no way we do not defer or skip payments. They said they could give forbearance. Which means they will hold off payments for three months but then you will owe all of that money after three months. If I had the money to pay it all after three months I would just pay it normally. Actually from their website, For example: John's monthly mortgage payment is $1,000 and is due on March 1. He opts in for a forbearance in March. As a result, the forbearance period will run from March through May. At the end of the forbearance period, John will owe a total of $4,000 on June 1 - $3000 for March through May, plus his June payment of $1000. I can not believe there is so much greed in this world. Can you imagine taking this deal thinking you can get the money together in time then getting stuck with this huge payment. I am sure this is just a way for them to get people stuck in a situation they can not climb out of from what I have read in the other reviews read more
