This place is definitely not closed. It's the only hotel option in town. The property is showing it's age, but it wasn't as bad as some reviews led me to believe. The building itself was definitely aging, but it didn't look bad. The lobby was functional, but not inviting. There was a small lounge and the couch cushions were ripped. Small detail, but small details add up to paint an overall impression. There never seemed to be anyone at the desk. You had to pick up a phone to get someone to come down. I guess this makes sense considering it's a small town and it didn't really bother us, but it led to the cold feeling that the lobby had. It also wasn't lit that well. A lobby should feel inviting and this lobby did not feel inviting. Check in was not an issue. The walk to the room was a little troubling. Carpeting was dingy and worn on the stairs (there is no elevator). Carpeting was also loose in the hallway. The hall, like the lobby, felt kind of cold and uninviting. It was like walking down the hallway in a lower rent apartment building. The room itself was okay. It was worn, but not dirty. The bathroom was clean. I didn't feel grossed out using it. I was actually impressed how clean the room appeared to be. The fixtures were aged, but not worn. The room itself had everything you needed: coffee maker, fridge, and so on, but it had a sort of jumbled feel to it. It felt like everything had been pieced together over time. Beds also felt worn, but they were clean. Wi-Fi worked well, as did the television. The continental breakfast was the biggest bummer. It felt like the least amount of effort required to be able to claim they had breakfast: 2 cereal dispensers, a waffle iron, a couple pieces of bread and random bagels, and some Little Debbie snacks (less than a box). My son and I had cereal and the milk tasted off. I really am not picky about such things, but neither one of us could finish our bowls. This hotel is okay if you're just looking for a place to spend the night. It is not a destination. It's just a room with very few frills. The cost is probably a bit high for what you get, but when you're the only game in town you can charge more. I would think that if another hotel opened nearby, such as a Cobblestone Inn, that this place would go under. It likely survives because there are no other options. Cheap, but you get what you pay for Stayed one night for around $75-80, which was the main draw given how close it is to a property I lease nearby. Unfortunately the low price reflected the overall condition of the place. The room felt run down and outdated -- nothing seemed to have been updated in a long time. The mattress was genuinely uncomfortable and made for a rough night's sleep. The microwave in the room didn't work, and the TV had channels that wouldn't load properly. Small but telling detail: the bathroom trash can just had a shopping bag lining it instead of an actual garbage bag. On the plus side, the staff member I checked in with was friendly and pleasant. But between the worn-out room and the broken amenities, I won't be staying here again. Next time I'm in the area, I'd rather pay more for a hotel that's actually maintained. read more

Hot water was not hot no need to add cold water... blood spot on toilet lid... no cups, sugar, cream, for coffee in room... they advertise Continental breakfast which is non existen. No water for the coffee, oranges that look like they have been there for weeks... nothing... I suggest paying more if you come to Stanley... The price did not match what was showing online, our heater did not work in the room and took the guy 3 times to come and check it out and to move us, the guy at front counter spoke broken English but approved our 3 little dogs which were mentioned but when someone came to our room to look at the heater immediately told us we needed to pay more for our dogs(3 five pound dogs). We assumed the higher rate was already because of the dogs, it turned into a yelling match and the guy telling us we would not get any money back if we left, after all the yelling, I did not feel safe to stay so we left after the guy finally decided to give us half back!!! How generous!!!! It was the worst experience I have ever dealt with and would advise everyone avoid this hotel! This is the worst!!!!! read more

Had nice beds and tv but couldn't get the microwave to work they had old food for a breakfast and the light infront of the mirror when you walk in gave off no light. Was told it would cost $104 but got charged $117 instead. read more

Supposedly had a reservation for July 15th, drove 5 hours, had my confirmation in hand, only to be told that they gave my room to someone else and that the confirmation didn't mean anything. Their answer to fixing the problem was to offer me a room that had no working ac. Really?! Book here at your own risk! read more

This hotel isn't closed, but I'm kind of surprised they still have any business since NOTHING seemed to work here. I would never stay here again! The room was comfortable enough, though we had to go around plugging in all the lights and appliances when we got into our room since they were all unplugged. Sheets and towel (yes, singular) seemed clean. That's where the good stuff ends. The back door was very finicky and several other guests were complaining they couldn't get in either and had to walk around the building to enter. The ice machine was out of order. The laundry machines were out of order. The waffle machine at breakfast was out of order. The orange juice was the worst I've ever tasted. Even the three bagels available were rock hard and tasted like dirt. There were lights burned out in the hallway and the carpet trim was left in the hallway where it had fallen off the wall. The AC shut off on us during the night so we sweated all night long, then in the morning suddenly started working again. We only had a single towel in our two queen-bed room. I don't know how they stay in business, let along how they think they can command such a high per-night price. I've stayed in motels less than half the price that are better! Don't waste your money when there are much better options within 30 miles or so of here. read more

Pretty crappy. Quoted one price on the phone but tried to charge something else when I got there. The service was rude and short. The bed not comfortable and the hotel looked pretty shabby and worn out, not too clean, towels were dirty, and weird smell all over the hotel ... Curry mixed with sweat. For 70$ a night it's really a poor deal. And top it all off the room was freezing and SO NOISY! The fridge or something kept turning on all night and woke me up 5 times. And the manager "reminded" me that even though I have a double bed I will be charged if the other bed looks used !!!!!! Only stay if have no choice! read more

We reserved a 2 queen bed room (only one bed was in our room), Table and chairs (no chairs), Parking Area View (We had no parking area view and this was important due to having our musical equipment with us), Coffee Maker in Room (there was none), Microwave (None) and Refrigerator (Broken/non-Functional), room didn't have sheets or blankets initially and they only had one pillow for 4 of us, it was dirty, smelled "off' and there was no garbage receptacle either. There was an actual hole in the door of our room that you could see in to our room from the hallway, about a half inch in size, we had to stuff a towel in. The reservation confirmation I received also states that out room would be held until 7am the morning after check in. We were able to make it there around 2am, but they did not have our room...even though we called ahead at 1:30 pm the day of check-in to let them know we won't get to the hotel until after midnight, but that we ARE coming, and to not give up our room. Again, even though the reservation states in writing they can't give up our room until 7am. Our band had just played at Country Fest. It was 2am and we were exhausted otherwise there is NO WAY we would be even considered staying at this hotel. We also tried to offer some compensation to the owner (Sam) but certainly not willing to pay the full rate we agreed to, when nothing we agreed to was provided. Sam then became hostile and threatening in the phone. Just stay away from this place! There are plenty of other hotels in the area that we've stayed at, where the experience was very positive. Update 7/5/2017: Received a phone call (voicemail) from an employee stating that he read the review above, and that he was going to reimburse 100% of the charges. I was to call him on his personal number and that I didn't need to speak to anyone but him to get this handled. I called back and we had a brief conversation where he was able to refund my card if I took down this review. I was reluctant to do that and requested to refund first, then once I've seen it post I would take down the review. He asked again for me to remove the review then he would look to verify the review was removed, then the charge would be refunded. I agreed and told him I would take down the review and call back in 5 minutes to perform the refund. I called back right away...and then the process changed to, Sam (the owner that became aggressive on the phone with my girlfriend first, then when I called he did the same with me) has to verify the review was removed, and he won't be able to do that until maybe tonight or tomorrow...then it will take 3-5 business days to see the credit post. I explained that once again, this was not the arrangement that was left in the voicemail, nor was it the arrangement we had just discussed in the phone. I told him I was going to put the review back up until the charges are refunded, and once they follow through with what was agreed on I will remove the review. Bottom line with this hotel is they have good people working there, but with the current management/ownership in place, they just aren't trustworthy. Stay somewhere else. read more

I want tell anyone who plans a stay at America's Best Inn, Stanley Ws.....DON'T DO IT! WE had to come to town for a funeral, my father in law, made the reservation for us. When we arrived, we were paying for the room, my husband is a veteran. When we asked for the discount, I am assuming the owner, who was in his pajamas, said he couldn't give it to us, because the reservation didn't specify that ahead of time. OMG! So even though we were paying for the room, for three nights by the way, he couldn't change it at his own hotel. Next, we asked for a luggage cart? His reply, "we only have one for downstairs, you are upstairs ". (Ok? Really?) At that time, my 13 yo and I went to start getting the bagssss, yes, several, putting them just inside until my husband was done at the desk, as my husband is getting done, they have a sign offering pizzas available, so we ask could we order one? His response "we don't have that many? I asked, do you have any at all? He says "I guess, only sausage", we told him that will be fine, it was 11 pm, we were tired and hungry. As we made our 3 trips up and down the stairs, him and I am assuming his wife, stood at the front desk watching us as we made the 3 trips with all of our bags. They were rude, acted as if we intruded on their time and totally disrespectful. Don't stay here! read more

This is now the AmeriVu Inn & Suites.. Dirty place and VERY Rude clerk. There was a 4inch ring of dirty scum in the tub/shower. It was not wear, wiped some off with thw towel, sliver of used soap still in tub, wasclorhs and towels stained. Indian/Pakistanian clerk offered us an extra night for free or $10, when I said no, he got rude!! He even had the nerve to "Shush" me as i was talking!!! If you ever stay here , have the clerk go with you to check your room over, before you pay thwm, even if it 2 am!! read more

First off let me start by saying I booked a reservation a few months in advance and they wanted to charge me $90+ tax for their very basic accomodations. No pool, no breakfast, no name brand, etc. The guy on the phone was nice and gave me another $10 off which brought it down to $80+ tax. 4 days before I was to arrive I had to cancel and I called and the phone just rang and rang. I got busy so the day before I called again and tried to cancel and they said sure, but they were going to still charge me for a room. After going round and round with the guy and him telling me it's "company policy to charge if you cancel within 48 hours of arrival", I decided I wasn't going to cancel it if they were going to charge me because I didn't want them to book the room to another guest and get double the money. This hotel is in a small dumpy town and they need every cent they can get out of people to survive....word on the street is the Chamber of Commerce helps pay their bills so they even have a hotel in town to offer the few travelers who need to stop and stay. To make a long story short I paid $91.78 for a room I never stayed in and they absolutely refused to refund me my money or not charge me. It's a bunch of BS that they need to swindle people to get their money. This is the last time I ever book a room there and I hope any other travelers keep driving by because not only are they rude, they are shady. Read the other reviews and realize the one star is for a reason.....TRAVELERS BEWARE!!! read more

This hotel was an awful experience. The window screens all had holes in them from people sticking cigarettes through them. Front desk mischarged us by 20 cents. Rather than just give us our 20 cents, the front desk voided our payment and credited it back while we were out at a funeral. When we returned from the funeral there was a note taped to the door of our hotel room asking us "please do see us at the desk". When I went down there, I was told our payment was denied. This was because the desk had voided our payment and it had not credited yet back to the credit card, so the next charge was denied. The front desk clerk demanded another form of payment immediately, and is lucky we happened to have cash on us. I have yet to confirm our original payment has been credited. I will never stay at one of these hotels again, and will tell everyone I know that they are disgusting, ill-staffed, and poorly maintained. STAY AWAY!! read more
