Stopped in here after searching for a place to grab a quick bite on our way to the McDonald Observatory. Good burger. Great service.

The clerk at the hotel recommended another place but when we got there we learned we needed a reservation. So we ended up here. Now this place is not fancy by any means. The server was nice enough but was really forgetful. We got chips and queso. The chips were stale and cold and hard, not crispy. I got a burger. It was ok. My husband got chicken Alfredo. The chicken was overdone and didn't really look like chicken. Now there aren't a lot of options in this small town. And I'm sure there are many tourist customers like us. So this happens sometimes where the food and service are not the best because they know we won't be back. But stale chips? They could do better. read more

Alpine is crawling with tourists this weekend. My usual lunch places were already crowded at 11:30 today. So, like an idiot, I went to Amigos (which was empty) for lunch. I ordered nachos. The waitress brought them quickly, but unfortunately, they were served at room temperature. There was no actual cheese on them, just a somewhat runny, room temperature white liquid, cold pinto beans, guacamole, sour cream, a plentiful amount of black olives, and pickled jalapenos. I have had better nachos at a truck stop, where they at least are served hot. This is the 3rd time I have tried Amigos and the 3rd disappointment. I guess I give up on them. read more

Long wait for food but we came in right as it opened. Can't ever go wrong with a cheeseburger. Honestly though the fries were so good and salty. Wings were not necessarily bad it flavor but not super crispy. Kids Mac n cheese was a very tiny bowl for $6 bucks. This was one of the only places open on a Sunday. Not a bad stop for a drink and some nosh. Prices were average. read more

Amigo is great! Solid food, service and ambiance. We ordered: Pretzel Guac/chips Cowboy caviar Chicken Greek salad Chicken quesadilla Everything came out warm and quickly. Really impressed with the attention from the wait staff here. We came to Amigo during Open Mic which was entertaining to listen/watch. Really impressed with how many musicians showed up. Was starving on a Saturday afternoon and had limited options in Alpine. While walking down the street we detected the aroma of sizzling ground beef and headed in... The burgers were really good, and the fries were above average. The chips were nothing special, and the salsa, guacamole, and queso were pretty standard. I have to say the service was really slow. Other reviewers' complaints about the wait times are not exaggerations. We waited at least 40 minutes for our food, and even though there were plenty of staff, they rarely checked in on us. We went to Renata but it was closed. So this restaurant was right there and open. As soon as we entered, I wondered if it was a mistake. It was dusty and mostly empty in a very large dining area. The bar was in the next room. No one greeted us when we entered so we seated ourselves. After about 10 to 15 minutes later a young man came over and took our drink order. When he brought back the drinks, we weren't ready to order and he e never came back! We just had dinner tonight and it was great all around. Sorry I didn't take any photos as we just had came in from three days at Big Bend. My wife had the Nachos and was very happy with all the toppings that came with it. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken that came with fingerling potatoes and fresh green beans. What a great change from so so mashed potatoes and canned beans. Our service was great and the server was very attentive. I would eat here again next time we come through. read more

The service was extremely slow never even got a refill on my drink. A McDonald's filet o fish is better than their fish and chips and probably fresher. Had better chicken tenders in the school cafeteria. read more

Possibly best burger of my life. I ordered the Heritage Burger and each and every bite was like a sliver of heaven in my mouth. The burger buns really tied the whole burger together for me. Staff were very friendly and I would even say they went above and beyond for my group! Really cool vibe at this place, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot! read more

Everything was closed on a late Tuesday evening & we had our collies with us so we were told to try Amigos Bar & Restaurant to get take out. The burgers were delicious, fries were pretty salty but good & we took it back to our hotel to eat with margaritas from the hotel bar. It was not what I was expecting for dinner, but was a great substitution. read more

Staying in Alpine overnight on Sunday, things are limited. Staff tried to be attentive; w were greeted immediately by the owner and had our drink order taken within 5 minutes. It felt like the owner and staff must know they are getting pounded in reviews for being slow and inattentive. Even so, we had to ask every time for water refills and had to go to the bar to ask for another beer. Food took almost an hour to come out. Chicken sandwich and Fried Chicken Plate were pretty good. For a place wanting ty be a sports bar, there weren't a lot of TVs going. The restaurant/grill side has no screens at all. The bar area had 3 screens, but one sat with nothing on except "This Programming is Over" screen (it was Selection Sunday for NCAA Men BB). There is a third room with more TVs but was loud and austere. It's what you have in Alpine, but hard to recommend as a real "Sports Bar." Overall, ...meh. I would watch the game at home if I had the choice. read more

Slow service. Bad food. They ran out of cheese and brought me a different meal since they couldn't make quesadillas.

I am only giving 2 stars because I have come to the restaurant a couple of times during the day time and the staff have been sweet and kind. The food is good! It's a nice spot to come for a good meal. Tonight I tried to place a phone order and a staff member named Kaylee answered the phone. When I asked to place an order through the phone she immediately cut me off and told me they were not taking phone orders and to place one online then click, hung up on me. There was no, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience", "have a great", or any customer service. I am trying not to be upset, but I couldn't help but feel the way I feel. We almost did not order because of the service received. Hoping pick up is a better experience. read more
