This clinic is amazing. From Dr. Miller to her entire team - they actually care about every single animal they treat and are in it for the right reasons: to help! They go above and beyond for every single animal! My only "complaint" is that they don't charge enough for their services, if you can even call that a complaint. They just care too much about their customers and not at all about their own pocketbooks. It's incredible, I've never seen anything like it in my lifetime of countless vets and vet clinics. I'm updating this as I went to this Vet just this morning. I needed to get a rabies titer test for my dog who had issues with the rabies vaccine as a puppy. Dr. Jensen was there. I normally see Dr. Miller, but I needed to go on a Saturday per my schedule. She actually quoted me $500 for the.titer test - I was astounded and flabbergasted. The clinic is not even- to be candid - that pristine. Yet a new modern updated clinic in Scottsdale was quoting me $200 less? At this point I will not be going back there. I believe they are now profit over pets versus pets over profit. And I cannot trust them with my animal. And then on top of that there's a 3% surcharge now for credit card usage. Don't they know that most people are on a budget and sometimes they have to use a credit card but yet they gouged you yet again with a 3% charge? I had a really wonderful vet who was pets over profit for many years and he retired so it's been hard to match him. I mean if he has to get the rabies vaccine I discussed with her that I was worried and she said well, I can give him a couple of injections. My previous vet would've said here's what you can do, give him some Benadryl about 45 minutes before the procedure. But not Amigo- they were just racking up the bill. No thanks. I feel bad to say this, but when I was talking to her, I didn't feel like she was really listening to me. read more

I have found that I have had the best experiences at smaller locally owned vets and this place is no exception. I have taken my puppy to the clinic several times and have nothing but good things to say. I had to reschedule a couple of appointments and they were very accommodating. I was told at one appointment based on the timing of that appointment, I would have to come back the following week for one other vaccine based on the vaccine schedule. I was feeling stressed because money was a little tight at the time and I was thinking I was going to have to pay 2 separate office visits in addition to the vaccines. Without even expressing my anxiety about cost, they discounted the second appointment since he was just in the office which I found to be incredibly considerate. They are typically very good at returning calls in a timely manor (I see in other reviews that has been an issue in the past but I have not had that issue since I've been with them). The front office and techs are all very friendly and have had only good things to say. Now for the vet - I have had the majority of my appointments with Dr. Wallace and I think she is newer to the team. She is exceptional, patient, and takes the time to explain rational and justification for treatment plans before recommending them. She's very personable. Finally, in regards to pricing, prices are reasonable for services that are provided and definitely less than going to a large vet practice. read more

The veterinarians are outstanding and the co-owner works in the reception area and greats you with a smile and is quite knowledgeable. I used to work as a vet technician and am fiercely loyal to that vet. But he moved 45 min away, and I can't take a meowing cat or nervous dog for that long! My sister found this clinic and we have all been so happy with their care! Everyone is relaxed and Dr. Miller even sits on the floor to examine my nervous whippet. We've been going to Amigo Animal Clinic for a few years, and up until this past week they were great. We've been going to them since we adopted our girl and she was about 7-8 months old; when we got her. We decided to wait for spaying until after she turned 2 to try and minimize the chance of spay incontinence. We finally had her spayed last Thursday. Frustrations began soon after: 1. We were charged an additional $70 on top of the surgery "due to multiple heats". Charge Wasn't disclosed up front with the estimate given to us 2 days prior to surgery. 2. We had her microchipped. No microchip information or brochure was given to us. I was told by the tech that the microchip is registered to Amigo. As of today I've verbally requested the microchip information three times now. 3.her incision site is draining and the incision/dissolvable sutures pulled open this past weekend. 3 phone calls and messages left during early afternoon business hours on Monday, before anyone called back the Tuesday afternoon. 4. They asked us to send them a photo via email, which we did Tuesday. No response until Today/Wednesday when.. 5. Their vetTech called me Wednesday/today and said that Dr Jensen wanted to know how Gunner (our neutered male bulldog) was doing after surgery. (Called me about the wrong dog ). I was then asked about the photo we were supposed to send. She said they didn't receive it. She then gave me different email address to send to. They have yet to respond. Again. and the answering machine said they closed shortly after they called me earlier . As of tomorrow switching vet clinics. read more

I'm pretty sure this is my first ever Yelp review - but I felt the need to share our experience. I made an appointment on a Tuesday for the same week, on Friday. Our family added a little furry friend to our crew and I needed to get her into the vet within a short time frame of getting her, to ensure she was healthy. Our normal vet wasn't able to get us in, so I called around. Amigo had a cancellation and got us scheduled within the needed time frame. I was hesitant due to some recent bad reviews, but figured we would give them a chance. We haven't had a puppy in over 17 years and my children (aged 5, 7, and 9) aren't familiar with dogs. Our senior dog passed last summer, so all the kids have known is a lazy old man who couldn't play. Back to the appointment - we got inside, filled out a little paperwork and went back to our room pretty quick. The tech came in, asked a few questions, and then took our puppy back to be examined. Dr. Miller returned, sat on the floor while snuggling our little lady, and talked with me for at least 25 minutes - answering all of the puppy questions, giving advice on potty training and how to help her to sleep better at night. I've been sleep deprived and overwhelmed (wondering what we got ourselves into with this crazy puppy) and Dr. Miller was simply AMAZING! So much so, that I cancelled my appointment at our old vet, and will work with Dr. Miller moving forward. The office staff were friendly and attentive as well. We took our two German shepherds here for years until recently when we moved across the valley. Both of our dogs have had many issues from foxtail infections to hip surgeries. Amigo Animal Clinic was always amazing to us and our pets. We mainly saw Dr. Miller. She would get right down on the floor with our dogs and was so caring. She was great about discussing options and always kept us in the loop as far as follow up. The techs and front desk staff were always friendly as well. I also felt their prices were very fair. I take my three dogs here, and you will not find a more caring, compassionate, and educated team to care for your animal. I've tried some different vets around this area, and no one can hold a candle to Drs. Miller, Jensen, and the entire staff. Theresa, the office manager, is also exceptional. Let me tell you why I think Amigo is the best. First, the veterinarians stay current on vet medicine and actually engage in their profession. As one example, I have an intact golden retriever, and I had concerns about neutering him too young based on studies I'd read. Dr. Miller was the first veterinarian who had actually READ the studies and who knew more about them than I did!! She had stayed current on the issues, and she was clearly passionate about continued education. She worked with me to make an informed decision about how to best care for him. This is one example of many where Amigo impressed me with passion for their profession. Second, Amigo takes a collaborative approach to vet medicine. When there's been a problem requiring other expertise, Amigo has recommended trustworthy vets, allowing for this collaborative approach to take place. As an example, I have an elderly dog with mobility challenges. When there were other modalities that might help her after we had exhausted what Amigo did offer, they gladly referred me to other providers. My dog is now benefiting from holistic acupuncture with a different provider, while Amigo continues to act as our "PCP." (That said, Dr. Miller performs quite exceptional acupuncture for mobility challenges!) Third, Amigo has always accommodated my schedule and makes themselves available. They've stayed late for me before, and they always fit me in if I need it. This responsiveness is important to me, and it's allowed me to provide better care for my animals by not having to unduly wait or experience hassle in scheduling appointments. Fourth, they are talented, skilled surgeons. Two of my animals have undergone surgical intervention with both Drs. Jensen and Miller, and the results were outstanding. Being compassionate is great, but being able to competently practice is another thing completely. Both doctors are comfortable and highly capable in performing surgeries. Fifth, they are cognizant of pricing and provide various scenarios in terms of costs, so that you can choose what best fits your budget. Admittedly, I am less concerned about pricing, so I have not taken the time compare their pricing to others. In my experience of going to other local vets, they seem competitive if not lower than some other places. Most importantly, Amigo has NEVER pressured me to purchase services that were not necessary, and I cannot say the same for other vets. I could seriously go on and on about Amigo's strengths. Only con is that the facilities are slightly outdated. But if your priority is superior care for your pets, then it's not hard to look past that and focus on the smiling faces ready to help your pets! In sum, I unreservedly recommend Amigo. read more

My family has been going to Amigo since around 2004/2005 when we moved to the area. This is one of the most Loving Kind Caring practices I've been too! They truly are kind and loving to your pets! They have some of the best staff! If you call there usually Admin manager Michelle answers the phones & runs the front desk with excellence and is superb! She knows the practice so well! Never will you be left with the feeling that she's just a clueless receptionist that dislikes her job! She's really the best! Very kind and will do what she can to accommodate your needs. Also Owner Theresa also spends time at the front desk & answering calls for clients! She is also just the best! I love that she's available to speak to when we have questions. Her experience and knowledge is so vast... she surpasses other Drs I've had experience with. She is so so smart & knowledgeable, easy to understand, and very friendly! This is definitely her passion! The best thing though is she will definitely love your fur babes when visiting for treatments! My kitties just love her and behave better for her than for me lol My family mostly sees owner Dr Rose Jensen, and we just adore her! She is so smart, so thorough.. thoughtful, kind and gentle. I can't even tell you how great she is! There's a reason she's been our Doc for so long. Recently my family had to put down one of our furry family members.. and she was the best. I was so glad she guided us through the process. Words can't describe how great she was during such a hard hard experience. She's a beautiful person inside & out. Dr. Miller has been there quite a while now and she's also great! She's very quick and great with the animals! She has many talents and a encyclopedia of information! Called today as I have a 17 year old cat who can't keep food down. She is most likely at the end of her life and when I called to schedule an appointment they couldn't see her til next Tuesday! Then she proceeded to tell me with no sympathy to take her to the er for pets and I explained I wanted her to go to the place she's always gone to. She said I wouldn't wait til Friday! This girl is a front office girl who obviously shows no concern for people who are about to lose their family member! The Drs have always been amazing and I'm sure that if they fire the front office gal the place would be back to normal! Next time tell your front office girl to be a lil more caring and sensitive to people's feelings in a time of emergency/end of life situations with their pets! I will be finding a new place to take my pets and hopefully this clinic will find a new front face for their practice before she ruins it! read more

I have been going to Amigo for years and I used to love them. I have sent so many friends and neighbors there as well and they had the same opinion. I think someone at the front desk changed or something but my experience has completely changed. My cat had prescription food that I bought from Amigo every few months for over 2 years. My cat is VERY sensitive to food and this is the only food that did not give him hives and helped prevent his urinary tract problems. Back in December I got covid for weeks and my cat had run out of food. I had called to see if I could pay for the food over the phone and have my brother come in and pick up the food since he had not had contact with me. I was told that in order to get my cat his food, my cat would have to come in for an appt and make sure that he still needed this food. I explained to the girl on the phone my situation and she said there was nothing she could do, but that he had to come in and be seen again to get the food he's been eating for the past 2 years. This was my first bad experience with them. I was very upset and ended up just buying over the counter food from the same brand and after a few weeks he got used to the food and is doing good. My second bad experience has been this week. I just adopted two kittens and one of them had ear mites. Unfortunately all my cats got it and I had to bring them in. Amigo did not carry the medication my kittens needed so I was told I would be receiving a link in my email to where to purchase it. Waited till the end of the day and still had not received the link so I went to chewy and purchased it at 9am Saturday morning. Chewys website says it may take 1-2 business days so I gave them some time. I went to check Tuesday afternoon and it still said waiting on approval so I call amigo and the girl I spoke to said she'd call chewy and get it taken care of. Checked again today, Wednesday morning, and still says waiting approval. So I call amigo today and Nicole said she wasn't sure what happened but that she would call chewy and fix it. She called me back 15 mins later and said it was done. I believe the problem is fixed now but it has taken way too long and way too many phone calls to get it taken care of. God only knows how long it would have taken if I hadn't been on top of calling them. Overall I am extremely disappointed in their lack of concern for my animals and their lack of being on top of things. Editing to add that I just took my cat in to Sugarloaf Vet clinic today, 2 weeks after his original amigo appointment. Amigo missed that he had an eye infection and an upper respiratory infection that has spread to his lower respiratory system. Sugarloaf also mentioned that Amigo should have cleaned his ears when I originally brought him in. If I had waited the month Amigo told me to for his check up, my cat would be dead. read more

My dog was diagnosed with a horrible condition of Atopic Dermatitis and this vet was able to clear his skin and itchiness within no time! I was really worried about my poor pup, but they did their best to recommend different types of medicine, physical therapy, and cheaper alternatives for different brands. Both of our dogs come here frequently for check ups and we're impressed by the service and staff every time we visit. Really give this place a try, it's amazing and you won't regret it! read more

I have been going to Amigo for many years through many animals I have owned. It's a place I can trust and I love Rose as well. She treated my mom's cats and was the most compassionate care provider to her and was so patient with her sometimes difficult personality. They treat your animals like their own which is something rare to find. There are many vets in our area of northeast Phoenix so there is a lot of competition price wise -- I would rate them as fair and about in the middle. So if you want cheap don't come here expecting 12 dollar antibiotics you can get on line (as I see in a bad review below) - they have to make a living in their clinic just like you have to make a living at your own job. You get what you pay for and I rather go somewhere that my pets are treated like family! read more

I Ave been going to Amigo for 16 years. I recently had trouble with them when I scheduled an appointment for bi yearly injections for my pups that they have been receiving there since they were pups and they are now 4 and 5. I loved them so much I would drive 45 minutes to get to them. I was was told on phone that they apparently changed their policy where if the dogs haven't been examined in the last 6 months they would need to do that before they give them their injections. I told them it's fine I just need to get them in as soon as possible because they were starting to itch really bad Without their injections They get severe allergies. They looked it up and said they were good to go and I told me to come in same day. I drive all the way over there wait 20 minutes in lobby for them to come out and tell me they won't do the injection because although they were seen it wasn't a full exam and now I would have to reschedule. They then refused to refill their prescriptions tht I order online without the exam Also something o have done with them for years no issues til now. My dogs are suffering and I am doing everything I can to keep them as comfortable as possible til I can get them in somewhere and these people have been cold about the whole ordeal and act like they don't care about the dogs or me having to look into going to another vet after 16 years of loyalty and referrals with them. They changed a lot of staff in the last year and I assume that Is why the change in policies and attitude but I am crying holding my dog who's face is bleeding from itching so bad right now and I can't get her in anywhere and had to right this review to let others know my experience with them. I can't say enough good things. My pet got injured on a Friday night right before closing time. Amigo took her in and did surgery that lasted until late evening. The staff knows she hates being up on the table, so they all examine her on the floor. They just go out of their way EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's truly impressive and greatly appreciated. 600% mark up on antibiotics at this location. They "Can't compete with online pharmacies." So I was almost charged over $60 for a two week supply of antibiotics for a small dog. I can order online for about $12... I would have gladly paid for the "convince" of treating my dog same day, but this is OUTRAGEOUS. Thank you for having my pups health as your first priority- NOT. After spending $100 for Amigo to confirm the UTI I told them was the issue, you'd think that they could thrown $10 worth of antibiotics at me, you know since our appointment took over 2 hours... After experiencing a bad vibe from VCA Northern, I had been looking for a new vet for my cat who was due for dental surgery. I had been calling all around for prices. Initially I did not even plan to come here, but the receptionist talked to me with care and genuine concern, something I would regard as rare as a genuine and honest car mechanic! After the initial contact via the phone I had a wonderful checkup for my feline, from the vet tech to the veterinarian. Due to my previous experience at VCA, I was hesitant to pursue the invasive surgery as they had a knack for trying to get the most money out of people as possible (I was quoted almost 2k for a dental cleaning and tooth removal). However, the veterinarian made me feel at ease with the decision as I felt genuine compassion for animals from her and did not feel like I was being swindled into an unnecessary surgery at all. In fact, she looked at me crazy when I mentioned how VCA required my cat to have $200 worth of vaccines before he could even get blood work! Keep in mind, I have volunteered in the cat department of the Arizona humane society and have endorsed VCA for quite a while! My cat is due for his surgery soon and I couldn't feel any more comfortable with my choice in vet clinic. Very glad I chose amigos!! read more

I have been a patron of Amigo for almost 15 years, and Dr. Rose and Theresa and the entire staff are AMAZING! Their customer service and care for my pets has always been above what I could have ever hoped for. When my dog started declining in health, they were so accommodating to our needs, questions, and every single panicked call (and there were a ton). They were constantly willing to find the space in their schedules for me to bring her in. I always felt reassured by Dr. Rose's patient care, "bedside" manner, and competence. She conducted surgery and several other procedures on my dog to help me extend her life and with the greatest comfort and care my dog could receive. I cannot express how patient-focused their service is; they are wonderful! And, from the standpoint of having to make the excruciatingly difficult end of life decision for my dog, I was comforted in trusting that her last day was in their care while we attempted to treat her, and at the moment I came to my own conclusion that I would have to let my dog go, the compassion and validation that it really was "her time," made the devastating decision easier for me to handle. My trust in their familiarity with her and their intimate knowledge of her entire health history was so strong that I unequivocally knew that if there were viable options to treat her, those options would have been discussed. Even after that day, my relationship with them did not end, for they actually reached out to me very soon afterwards to extend condolences and offer support. By the way, their physical proximity to my initial home when I acquired my dog was the reason I initially sought their services, but I was so comfortable with them, I continued to seek their care even after I moved such a distance away that it wasn't convenient for me to get to because I valued their care and services so much. I just cannot say enough about how great I think the doctors and staff at Amigo are to their patients! read more

5 stars for Amigo Animal Clinic and Dr. Jensen! My pup had a large mass on his front leg and other symptoms lead us to believe he possibly had a cancerous tumor. Dr. Jensen and her staff were amazing at keeping me up to date on his tests and easing my worry while scheduling surgery. His surgery went well, Dr. Jensen did an amazing meticulous job and after sending the mass in we got the great news that it was not cancer. The caring staff at Amigo Animal Clinic made the stressful situation much easier and were fabulous from diagnosis to recovery.
