Five stars for successfully treating a cat that has spent the last seven years perfecting the art of avoiding humans. For years she was simply "Patio Cat." I fed her daily but wasn't allowed to bring her inside. After I moved, the guilt kicked in and I began the mission of trapping a community cat who is clearly smarter than most people I know. Eventually... success. I called ahead to ask if bringing in a trapped semi-feral cat was even a thing. The staff was incredibly kind and reassuring. The team handled it like absolute pros and whisked her away so I didn't have to watch the chaos unfold. From what they shared, Cat immediately demonstrated her Olympic-level wall-scaling abilities, but they managed to take care of everything we needed, AND walked me through a clear cost breakdown before doing anything, thank you! And were genuinely kind through the whole process. Cat is now home, safe, and pretending none of this ever happened. We'll be back for boosters... assuming I can outsmart her again. read more

Referring back to Jessica's experience... I have no beef with Phoenix Cat Bird... they are a well known, experienced clinic that has been in the neighborhood forever. However, there should never be a situation where the cat gets out of its carrier and is bouncing around the room. It is, of course, dangerous for the cat and everyone else. The folks that are really expert at handling ferals are the spay/neuter clinics. They service a ton of feral cats, because we TNR volunteers go there all the time. They also charge much less than regular vets. It is extremely helpful to get the feral cats into a double-exit trap too, rather than a regular carrier. It is so much easier for the staff at the clinic. Check out Altered Tails, Midwestern, the AHS, and my favorite, Low Cost Spay & Neuter (formerly AZSpay-- $55 per cat to fix a feral). read more

I've taken my cat here for years and always had a good experience! The staff always treat us nicely and are very sweet with my timid cat! I had an appointment today for my cat to get a vaccine and checkup and there was hardly any wait after I checked in. My cat gets scared and peed in her carrier in the car and they made sure to give her a pee pad for the ride home. They did a thorough exam and cleaned her ears too. I think their pricing is fair and reasonable. They have a wall of animal pictures in the lobby which is cute. read more

NEW UPDATE: Went to the AZ Vet Board and got some interesting facts: 1. They did not check Stitch's records of the year before and the tube they used this time was DOUBLE the size of the tube used the year prior. Which shows they did not check records prior to going into surgery - so if your pet has any allergies or other concerns even if it's in the record: does not seem like they check it? Potentially - something for you to really think about before bringing your pets here. 2. The vet was put on probation because of what happened here. So even the Board saw that they were at fault for Stitch's wrongful death. 3. The vet tech (WHO STILL WORKS HERE) is NOT certified with the state so NOTHING could be done to ensure that this doesn't happen again other than pulling him from surgeries. FYI, they've pulled him from surgeries but ... he's still there. And he sat in the Board hearing looking angry/bitter instead of any remorse for what he had done. Curious how many other vet techs here are uncertified and poorly trained. 4. Furthermore, we learned that this was their SECOND accidental death at this vet within a short span of time as they had accidentally overdosed a cat with too much anesthesia during another surgery. Definitely more reasons I will keep warning people not to bring their pets here especially if you truly love them like family. read more

I had the absolute best experience at the Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital. They were super transparent with everything, including pricing. My cat is a senior and it was time to get her some extra testing and a dental cleaning/check up. While this is never going to be cheap, I felt the price was extremely fair. They treated my little girl with so much care - despite the fact that she's a total menace at the vet. Everything with all of her testing and dental went smoothly. I was super impressed with the constant communication provided by this facility. The price ended up being a little less than the estimate! Not sure I've ever had that happen. Years ago when I first got one of my cats this was the vet I took him too because I lived right next door. I remember the doctor was so amazing. That doctor has since retired, one of my babies has passed over the Rainbow Bridge, and I even got a whole other diva pet to add to the mix since then. Time marches on. It had been many years and many moves since I had been back in that hood and they even moved to a bigger facility across the street. One of my babies had an ingrown, into the pad, nail. OUCH! Bad Mommy here. I am always so good at clipping their nails but I guess this one nail was a little out of control and grew long and fast and somehow I missed it until the poor nail grew clear over the other side and was inside the paw. OMGOSH. I was scared to death to touch it. My cat seemed well, not sick nor bothered by it, nor worse of the wear but I thought I had better get that taken care of pretty fast. I was looking for something closer to home than my last vet since the cat hates cars and gets traumatized when I take him anywhere. I was still in their data base so this worked out well. Since the last time they have a whole new staff and facility. They treated my baby so well. Like I mentioned he hates the car and gets pretty worked up and traumatized when I take him anywhere. They were all kind and caring and even the bill came out cheaper than I had expected and budgeted for. I really appreciate that being on a small pension. Sadly, I didn't feel the love here. My 17 year old kitty had some bad breath and was lethargic. No tests were done, was just told she needed 2 bad teeth pulled and it would cost near $3000. I took her somewhere else, and after running tests and blood work it was discovered that she had a urine infection, no bad teeth, they just need cleaning. After starting antibiotics she's her usual sassy self again! Feel like I dodged a major rip off bullet here. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

The visit takes less than 45 minutes to perform fecal exam, quick health check and administering vaccines and I called a week ahead. My dog saw 3 Vets there and not one could offer any advice of what to do about a "mysterious" growth in my dog. I left feeling in the middle as far as this experience not sure if I want to return. The staff for the majority was great excluding the vet. Check in was fast and easy. As a first time customer paid a $55 deposit for booking. Not thrilled but I get it. Nice Jax my dog, was checked in. They took my card for my pet assure membership. They did try to upselll me into additional labs since my dog was older than 10. I declined. All was good low stress until the vet. She came out and her bedside manner leaves something to be desired. She said my dogs paws were raw and an area on his front right leg the fur was gone and gave me a look of judgement. I said yeah that's why we are here today. I'm your customer this is the first impression and it wasn't good. Then she states he is overweight and interrogated me on how he was fed. She stated he was over 20lbs overweight which is bullshit. She then wouldn't leave it alone. After making me feel like a pile of crap, then states she will give him a Cytopoint injection, recommended wipes, and a prescription for his paws. I agreed to that. Next day my dog has a smile on his face and the licking non stop is much better. I'm glad but as a customer felt disrespected I think I will have to consider a different vet on any future visits. read more

My visit today was just one of THEE best ever!!! They got me immediately into a room and it was nice and cool and very clean !! The female vet ( Dr. Sosnow ) was so VERY personable and she was so pleasant , I would love for all my experiences with places and people to GO so great !! Dr Sosnow is hands-down one of the best vets I have ever used. I have had multiple cats and dogs over many years and have seen many vets. She is very kind and thorough and extremely helpful. This place is extremely affordable and Dr. Sosnow does not recommend anything that is not absolutely needed or necessary. She is very down to earth and knowledgeable. What did you do to my cat? I brought her in for a dental cleaning and possible extractions, with explicit instructions not to remove all her teeth. I hear nothing from your office and when I go to pick her up, you tell me you have taken out so many teeth, she can only eat wet food for the rest of her life. She has been in hiding for the last 24 hours. You have mangled and traumatized her and you have the nerve to berate me for not being able to hunt her down this morning to give her pain meds. Toda was dog Lola's first appointment here. Night and day difference from her previous vet! Their office was clean and up to date. As soon as you walk in you are treated with a smile by the front desk lady. My dog does not do well with other animals and this facility was able to accommodate with no worries. When Lola was taken back to a room with the vet tech she was unsure at first. The vet tech made sure to make Lola feel welcome. There was lots of petting and reassurance. The vet came in and was also reassuring to Lola. She addressed all allergy concerns and made changes to Lola's medicine. First impressions are lasting impressions . All staff were absolutely amazing. New to Arizona, I choose this vet when my 12 year old pup had some tummy issues. Vet ordered a ton of tests and gave him antibiotics and another med to calm his tummy. Once results came in, she left me a voicemail that his kidney levels were elevated and to call her back. She knew his litter mate had died of kidney disease the year prior. This is not a message you leave someone! I finally get her to call back and she ordered some urine tests and said it was "only $40" so I took him back and was charged $65 and had to argue with them. Guess who never was called about the urine results? Four weeks later, he's sick again and I didn't want to return. I called twice asking they email me the results to share with a new vet. They didn't send them. I arrived at a different clinic (Madison Animal Hospital) and their staff chased down the results when I couldn't get then turned over. Thankfully the Madisom vet was competent and advised me that the battery of labs from here and the new ones showed he not only had pancreatitis but was in kidney failure and likely had cancer. I let him go yesterday. He didn't need to suffer and had they been competent I could have saved him some agony almost $600 in lab work. Avoid them. read more

I see this vet office has gotten a tragic review recently and I feel for the pet owner. Hopefully the hospital corrected whatever mistake was made in that case so it doesn't happen again. My cat recently had some skin tumors removed (Sept 2023), and 4 months later the surgery appears to have been successful without complications. I can imagine just like in human medicine, mistakes can be made in animal medicine. I've been going here for almost 3 years now, seeing Dr. B. She's very knowledgeable of cats. The staff has also always been kind to me. I have autism so I can be a bit challenging when it comes to my cat and they have handled things very well with me. read more

Highly recommend this vet office. The staff is friendly, reasonably priced, and I feel like the vets make decisions solely with your pet's best interest in mind. I took my 9 1/2 yr old dog here and since De McGee left it has gone downhill. My beloved dog had two ear infections, a runny nose, and dry cough. They gave him blood tests and antibiotics. The antibiotics did stop the cough and ear infections. Dr Schneider was the vet non compassionate. I called back when my dog was still acting sick and asked for more antibiotics and I was given different antibiotics that my dog appeared to be allergic to. I called they said stop the antibiotics which I did. My dog could not breathe now and it was getting worse. He had such labored breathe it was terrible. I had to wait for an appt and by the time I took him In it was bad. Dr Schneider looked at him again and said if I didn't have the money to spend thousands I should put him down. I was so distraught and didn't know what to do. She said he is an old dog. I didn't want him to suffer. I now deeply regret taking him there. I could have taken out a loan if I knew what his treatment was. Dr Schneider never even put him on the table. Everything was done on the floor. I put my dog to sleep without a real diagnosis. I have Congestive Heart Failure and my neighbor thinks my dog had same so lasix or Spirolactone would have taken the fluid off the heart and improved his breathing. I am heart broken and I blame myself. I didn't fight for him. He was my baby. She couldn't hear his heart because he was jumping around so no addtl effort was made. Please don't take any large dog here please! They are ill equipped to take care of them. read more

PET OWNER BEWARE! My husband and I had been going to this vet for 4 years. I had always handled their appointments (for 3 pets total) and even took them to many appointments. Their customer service and professionalism was great, which is why we continued to use them. Unfortunately, within the last couple of years, the service level and professionalism has basically gone sideways. We had all of our pets examined during the pandemic, no issues arose, but they ran a laundry list of tests on each pet did not even need. When concerns arose about one of our pet's health (months later and completely unrelated to the blood panels previously ran), they couldn't even be bothered to refill a prescription they initially wrote and I had to chase them down for 2 weeks, calling every day and pleading with them to return my calls. Unfortunately, it was 2 weeks too long and she passed away from their negligence. Additionally, when I called to request our remaining pets' records, Stephanie refused to give them to me, claiming I wasn't an owner on the account. I set up the profile for each pet, filled out all paperwork provided upon each visit, but somehow Stephanie felt it appropriate to blame the customer and refused to speak to me further. The interaction became strange and unprofessional as she continued to blame me and refused to speak to me, only my husband. I advised her I would call him via conference call so he could "make me an authorized user" and she promptly hung up the phone. Their disorganization, unprofessionalism, and full negligence regarding the health of my pets are the reasons we were pulling their files in the first place. We have already found another vet to take them to and have used them on and off for years. STAY AWAY from this vet office. Even the veterinarians themselves seem aloof and only interested in talking us into things we didn't need, which is how my husband began taking them to appointments during Covid in the first place. Prior to the excessive upselling, I was the sole owner taking them to their appointments. P. S. They also false advertise, considering they don't even service birds. I initially gave them a 3. Please know that this awful woman is turning the situation around to be entirely my fault. First of all, my dog is now dead. I don't hold them responsible but their care was not thorough. Other tests should have been done before sending me to a cardiologist. Despicable. They offered a cardio diagnostic (I was told $2-4k for diagnostics which I didn't have so yes I wanted to try antibiotics before taking out a loan on something that has a high likelihood of killing my dog) the end game was so that I could put my very old dog with a heart condition under anesthesia. When the first antibiotics didn't work I did ask to try a different one but was not given any other options just a script refill. The appointments for a cardiology appointment were months out so this care plan this person is talking about is moot because he did not last months. Going to a cardiologist was the only other option they provided. These people didn't even want to do blood work until I asked but I decided to take him elsewhere because I was disgusted with the treatment. Have you ever been to a vet with a geriatric dog and not have them order some blood work? I have not. It's your choice where to go but you can see who they are from their reply. Trust me I did not forget a single detail as this person implied. Just gross. I loved my dog very much and I'll beat myself up forever for going to this vet. Don't go here. read more
