His name is Ron, and he's the guy behind Daily Driven Per4mance. We first encountered Ron through Yelp--we were looking for local auto mechanics to look over our 20-year-old car which was having a power steering problem. Ron gave us an estimate and timeframe over Yelp for looking at our car that was within our budget and timeframe. He took a look at the car and diagnosed a problem that would cost $1500 to fix--but he didn't charge us for the inspection itself. Instead, we promised him that we would bring the car we were planning to buy to replace our old car for him to look over. And that we did--we bought a used car as a replacement, a car we were very happy with, and a car which needed an oil change. We brought it to Ron for an oil change and a general inspection. He got both jobs done within a few hours, and he charged us a fair price for the service. (And he says we got ourselves a nice used car.) We did get us a nice car--and a nice mechanic to boot. I found Mario's because the Ford Service Department told me it would take 6+ weeks to make a diagnostic appointment and they'd need my vehicle for 5 days to do a diagnostic. Just a diagnostic. And then it's another 6-8 weeks to schedule the actual work, and who knows how long I'd be without a vehicle for that. No shade to those fine people. They're doing the best they can with the constraints of the system they're working in. I've been driving Fords for years and always had great experiences with the service departments. But it's reached a point where you have to wait months (diagnostics + repair) to get a simple thing done. So I took a risk and I tried something new. Enter Mario's. I called them yesterday and they said to swing by the next morning. I had a diagnostic with an estimate in less than an hour. They went ahead and did the repair and removed and replaced the serpentine belt tensioner, idler pulley, and both belts by lunch time. I know there are a lot of quality, hard working, reliable and honest mechanics in the community but you never know what you're gonna get sometimes when you try a new shop. Capitol Ford can get you settled by Thanksgiving. Mario's gets the job done before happy hour. Easy choice.

A customer's Audi associated with James's automotive work was brought to and stored on my private property without James ever obtaining permission from me, the property owner. I had never met the vehicle's owner and had never agreed to store his vehicle or allow my property to be used in connection with James's automotive work. I later learned that the owner did not even know his Audi had been left at my property. When I required the vehicle to be removed, James agreed to cover the resulting fees. He did not. The owner ultimately could not afford the impound charges James had said he would cover and relinquished the Audi to Pick-n-Pull. I was also left with expenses associated with getting vehicles off my property, including the Audi-related expense James agreed to reimburse and still has not paid. If James does the right thing and reimburses me for the expense he agreed to cover, I will update this review to reflect that he resolved that portion of the matter. I subsequently began looking more closely into James's automotive business. Approximately two months ago, James himself publicly identified himself as a mobile mechanic and stated that he was "not legal at the moment. Currently getting it fixed!" In that same post, he continued offering automotive work ranging from installing parts to engine rebuilds. His business page now represents that he is licensed and bonded, and based on the information currently available to me, it appears his DMV licensing was obtained only within approximately the past week. I am glad to see that he has finally addressed that issue. Obtaining a license now, however, does not change my experience with him or what occurred before he obtained it. Most recently, after I posted about my documented experience and responded to James's own public post questioning why people continued telling him his business was not compliant, James contacted law enforcement and characterized my posts as defamation. The deputy subsequently contacted me and asked to see the actual review and posts. After reviewing and discussing what I had actually written, she told me she did not find my reviews defamatory and concluded that James did not have a case against me. I provided her with the screenshots she requested. I have preserved the communications, photographs, public posts and other records supporting what I have described. A complaint concerning James's automotive activities has also been submitted to Nevada DMV Compliance Enforcement. Based on my personal experience, I would not use James for automotive work.
