Mario's Auto Repair TLDR - Quality work, fair price, fast service, great people. Highly recommend. I found Mario's because the Ford Service Department told me it would take 6+ weeks to make a diagnostic appointment and they'd need my vehicle for 5 days to do a diagnostic. Just a diagnostic. And then it's another 6-8 weeks to schedule the actual work, and who knows how long I'd be without a vehicle for that. No shade to those fine people. They're doing the best they can with the constraints of the system they're working in. I've been driving Fords for years and always had great experiences with the service departments. But it's reached a point where you have to wait months (diagnostics + repair) to get a simple thing done. So I took a risk and I tried something new. Enter Mario's. I called them yesterday and they said to swing by the next morning. I had a diagnostic with an estimate in less than an hour. They went ahead and did the repair and removed and replaced the serpentine belt tensioner, idler pulley, and both belts by lunch time. I know there are a lot of quality, hard working, reliable and honest mechanics in the community but you never know what you're gonna get sometimes when you try a new shop. Capitol Ford can get you settled by Thanksgiving. Mario's gets the job done before happy hour. Easy choice. read more

I took my car in needing an alignment after we replaced most of the front suspension ourselves. They noticed one of my tie rods wasn't secured properly and fixed it for me. I was a bit confused because we were sure we did everything correctly. I received a text with the link to a video showing that the tie rod was loose. It's really hard to find a trusting mechanic and this pictures and videos they take of what they find really alleviates any trust issues. I definitely will be going back! read more

Don't trust this place! They change their estimates, over charge you, and don't guarantee their work! Brought my car in, paid for all the extra things they said I needed that was not in the estimate, and now there are more things wrong with my car than when I brought it to them! I brought my vehicle in to have a new fuel filter put in and when I picked it up, the panel cover on the drivers side door was completely ripped off the door, bolts exposed, everything! It WAS NOT like that when I brought it in. I talked to I'm guessing the owner, he showed me where it was catching the inside and pulling it, well its doing it NOW AFTER you guys damaged the door. Wasn't like that EVER BEFORE. How someone managed to do this is absolutely beyond me. read more

I don't write many reviews because I'm lazy and unless I'm really upset about something or super thrilled with something I usually just don't care to write a review. In this case, Mario's Auto Repair has just gone so far above expectations that I felt as though they are REALLY great people and deserve more business so I would write a review. I have been going here for years and I started coming here because I was new to town and had a honda civic and I called all around to get a part for my car. Mario's was the best price and so I took my car there. The employees there have always been very polite and fast at responding to any question or concern that I had. Last year or the year before (not sure as it is a third car that we don't use that frequently) I had my timing belt replaced and after a few months it started making noise. They told me to come by and they tightened it up. A while later it happened again and they replaced it with another one without any labor or parts fee. When I said "thank you," they said "You are our customer, it's our job to make sure that you are satisfied." or something to that effect and the way the owner said it was really awesome and totally genuine. And that was just once instance. There have been many over the years. Another time I had a strange issue with my car not turning on. I bought a new battery and put it in myself and sometimes it would turn on and sometimes it wouldn't (it was our third car so I could leave it there for a while) they couldn't immediately find the problem because they couldn't replicate the problem but eventually they did replicate the problem and were able to fix the issue. In the past I have had a hard time with mechanics and it often felt like I was being taken advantage of because I was SUPER ignorant when it came to cars. I am SUPER happy to have a car mechanic that I can trust and that I know they don't want to take advantage of my ignorance just to make a buck. They will tell you straight up if they can work on your car because they don't service ALL types of cars BUT if they do service your brand of car I highly recommend them. read more

First rate service! We were on a road trip with deadlines to meet. The fan belt partially shred, Three repair shops couldn't help us for a few days. I found Mario's on Yelp, showed up to their shop with our tale of woe. The service department made time for us immediately. We were back on the road in less than an hour. Mario's also followed up with us while we were on the road to make sure the car was running fine. We don't live in the area but if we did, Mario's would be our go-to auto repair shop. I had an engine light turn on, but when I brought my car in to check it out, the light turned off. I kept my appt. and they recommended to check the history readings. The report indicated an ignition coil replacement was needed. My car is a 2021, 34,000 mi., hasn't had any problems so far, so I had the work done to replace the part rather than risk my car not starting when I needed it most. I was very happy my bill didn't break the bank. And a few days after picking up my car, I received a text from Mario's checking in about my car. Never heard of a garage checking in on their work. I have finally found a repair shop that I feel good about taking our car to. Mario's are good HONEST people. They really know their stuff -- car has always been ready by or before the promised time and their work is thorough, complete, and professional. I have tried 7 other repair shops over the past 25 years in the Carson/Minden area (the last 3 years I've been going to Mario's) and Mario's is by far the best. So nice to be able to take my car to somebody that I trust! Took my sons car there and asked for a complete overhaul to make sure it was safe to drive. Cost me over $2200 and now my son is without a car they refused to fix it. The only mechanic there that was ever helpful was John and apparently he no longer works there. Will never go back there again. Response to comment: This current mechanic stated that the radiator damage was a result of an accident it was in prior to my getting the car. Had that been caught at the time I brought it for inspection I wouldn't be going through this. This was the whole reason I brought it in for inspection. Not asking to predict the future but thorough work would have been nice. The engine is obviously hugely important and was not gone over like I asked. Like I said without John there I won't take any of my cars back there. My 2008 Trailblazer lost some/most of its freon right when I needed it most. Another shop wanted me to leave it for analysis for 2 days (July 30th) and an unknown completion date. I knew Uriel's shop is always busy. I told him about my situation, needing fully operational A/C to transport a cardiac patient to/from Dr.'s appointments, etc. He did an A/C service to track down the leak, found a defective schrade valve core (the leak), replaced the defective part, and completed both the A/C problem's resolution, but also performed an oil change to get rid of a "nag" light on the dashboard. My car only had 72,000 miles on it, was always garaged, and well pampered. BUT, any part that is under pressure will eventually fail as proven by my loss of refrigerant ! That is why I should have had a biannual A/C service to preclude losing cooling during the hottest part of this year's summer heat cycle. Uriel completed the job in only an hour and a half! He is an honest and fair mechanic and will not try to pull the wool over your eyes. In fact, I am bringing my 1998 Jimmy (259,000 miles) to him for an A/C service and oil change on Friday, 02Aug2024! I am from a family of mechanics and used to take care of my cars myself, so I have a pretty good idea of how long they work and how difficult some work can be. I am a traveler and I just drove 200 mi over some high California mountains pulling my trailer. My check engine light came on and I was very worried. I called Mario's and he said it was not unusual for my truck to have oil vaper issues after going over high mountain passes and to clear the warning light and see if it comes back on. I took off my positive battery cable and put it back on to let the computer reset and the engine light went away!!! So, I don't know how good their work is, but the time he took to talk to me about this was exceptional. I love this place! I took my 2009 Rav 4 in due to my engine, 4WD and traction lights coming on in the car. They had to replace the sensor. They got me in the day after I called. They communicate so well - and I love that it is by texting as I hate talking on the phone :) The estimate comes to your email and you look it over, sign it and send it back - sweet! They had to order the part but it came in the next day and it was ready for pick up mid-day. When I picked it up, the front counter clerk reduced the total price due to it not taking as long as they had anticipated!!!! On top of that - I had asked if they could look at a plate under the car which had come loose. They fixed it and did not charge me anything for that repair. I needed to get my brakes replaced. Mario's was able to get me in quickly. I told them I started hearing an unusual sound. While replacing my brakes they found the issue causing the sound. They called to me know the issue. I asked if they could fix that as well as the brakes. There were able to and at a minimal cost. The work and integrity of Mario's is above any mechanic I have ever been to. They even reached out after a few days to make sure I was happy with the work and to see if I had any issues. I am a new resident to Carson City. I took my wife's car in for general maintenance servicing and they did a great job. I then took my truck in for similar servicing and they did a great job as well. They found my front brake rotors were cracked and needed replacing. They showed me the cracked rotors (and cracked new pads) and they were both in need of replacement. I called Mario's and had an appointment for two days later. I dropped off my car for about 45 minutes and they had it completed. They recharged the freon and replaced service caps.
