This place needs a way higher rating!! The staff are so polite and hard working. The chef is a perfect old school diner cook. Everything is bang on! I had a $25 hotel egg breakfast recently and the eggs had runny whites, burnt toast and raw hash browns. Amigo is perfect every single time. $8.95 for 2 eggs cooked to order, perfect buttered toast and jam and crispy deep fried has browns. A couple of more dollars got a bottomless cup of freshly brewed delicious coffee and when I splurge on pancakes they are my favourite fluffy and spongy with real butter unlike most chain breakfast places. I really see no reason to go anywhere else for breakfast. I hear they have a good burger too! read more

I had the two eggs and three pancakes, my boyfriend had a benny with hash browns. We also each had coffee, which they refilled several times throughout our breakfast. Staff was friendly, food was comforting and really yummy - eggs were great, pancakes were fluffy and the sausage was tender. Benny was great too, but the hash browns a tiny bit on the dry side. I can't argue with the prices as they're very reasonable. My bf's mom had the monte cristo sandwich (chicken breast, ham, cheese between two french toast. She said it was delicious. I had scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns (more like potatoes) and multigrain toast. I really enjoyed the dark, mini fat breakfast sausage that came with this order than the regular, skinny pale breakfast sausages you get everywhere else. However I felt like my food was really over cooked or nuked in the microwave. It was so hot I burnt my tongue and the toast was so hard I literally had a hard time eating it as it was impossible to rip apart. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would instead of 3 I would also like to go back to try other things on their menu. read more

I have been here a bunch of times. I like stick to their breakfast dishes. Had the 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast with Bacon. Eggs were sunny side up & yolk was runny so I can soak up the yolk with the sourdough bread. Just the way I like it. Bacon was on the thicker side, which was good. & long pieces too. Always wanted to try this small breakfast place in my neighbourhood. It's like an old fashioned hole-in-the-wall diner with simply made food at a decent price. There was one pleasant hostess/server who told us we could sit anywhere. (It was fairly early so we had plenty of choices and we took a quiet, private, and comfy booth by the wall.) I had the 2 Eggs with Hash Brown & Toast, side of 3 Pancakes and coffee. Our orders were delivered quickly and they were piping hot. We were in the Coquitlam area and decided to stop by here for lunch due to the Yelp reviews. We were seated right away. Menus and water were dropped off. I decided on a Rueben sandwich with fries. Unfortunately, there was no soup available when I asked. My sandwich was decent. I would have liked more sauerkraut in my sandwich. There was an okay amount of corned beef. The fries were piping hot which I enjoyed. The restaurant is child-friendly. There were high chairs available. There was also leak resistant water cups for the kids. I appreciate how thoughtful the staff were to accommodate kids. Covid precautions were in place. There are plastic barriers between tables. Staff wore face masks. Customer information was collected for contact tracing purposes. Hand sanitizers were located at the front of the restaurant and the payment area. We saw staff cleaning tables and chairs. read more

Not extraordinary but definitely a go-to for an affordable breakfast/brunch/lunch! A seat-yourself-first type of restaurant and had a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. We had the waffle with berry compote and the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries. A minor disappointment that the $1 upgrade for the former meant a switch from 2 pancakes to 1 waffle. However, waffle had a crispy outside and fluffy inside The compote was just the right amount of sweetness and fruity-ness and it was enough for the whole waffle! The sandwich had chicken breast, ham and Swiss cheese between two french toast slices ! If they didn't mention the french toast bread , I wouldn't have noticed. I guess I was expecting thicker bread that was more heavily coated in the egg but the bread was thin and lightly coated, not much flavour. The chicken was seasoned nicely with herbs and pepper. Bonus: there was Swiss cheese on BOTH sides. Not what I would expect for a $9 sandwich with fries. Definitely a hidden gem if there has only been 18 reviews! read more

This place recently changed ownership, some things better, most are the same. All new staff. We've been coming here once a weekend since before Covid. Today we walked out. They don't scan your vax passports, just look at them. They tried to seat hubby & me between two occupied two-toppers that were less than a foot apart. First off, my butt would have cleaned off someone's table trying to get in and secondly there is still a pandemic. We refused to sit there. There were other tables available so we asked to be seated at a 4topper. Well, much dialogue between the staff that was not in English right in front of us. This went on for a good 5 minutes. Finally they grudgingly pointed to the 4topper. By that point we'd been disrespected enough and walked out and will never return. I've been living in the Tricities got 3 years now but it's just recently that I got to try out Amigo Pancakes and I wish I did so earlier! My husband and I are frequent Coquitlam Grill'ers just out of convenience and distance from our home, but now that we know about Amigos we might end up coming here more instead. Both are great but I appreciate the small diner feel of Amigos. It's clean and the service is impeccable. It definitely feels like a mom and pop shop with the kids working as wait staff but they are definitely on their game! Wait staff is always attentive with everything you need and food is relatively fast to your table. I got just a simple breakfast with 2 eggs, hashbrown, bacon and toast and paid around $8. It was more than enough but I was curious about their pancakes so got an extra one on the side for a little bit more than a dollar. The pancakes arent big but it was perfect when I just wanted to try it out. My husband got a mushroom burger with fries and he said it reminds him of home cooked food - not bad. All in all with tips we paid less than $30 for a huge breakfast and lunch where both my husband got drinks, a meal and added extras on the side. You can easily get away with paying less than $10 per person and be full and satisfied. We will definitely be back. read more

I was looking for a new place for Sunday morning breakfast with friends. I checked Yelp and found this place, read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I will definitely be going back. My first impression was how clean this diner looked. We had to wait a few (less than 5) minutes as our table was cleaned. After clearing the table, it was cleaned with what looked like a very clean cloth and then the standard on the table containers, salt, pepper, sugar were wiped down as well! I have never seen that done before. When we sat I did check them and they were clean and smelled well proving the cloth was clean. The food was standard diner breakfast fare, eggs and hash browns and toast or pancakes. Everyone's eggs were perfectly cooked as ordered. I had pancakes and they we excellent, thick and fluffy. In comparison to local breakfast places the prices were lower (way lower than places like IHOP, White Spot etc) It does get busy and full but no one waited too long for a seat. This is a definite must for breakfast. We are going to check it out for lunch soon too. read more

Been here previously and found the food to be average quick for a lunch . After eating there today I will not return . I ordered a combo burger and salad burger consisted of a quarter meat patty and salad to go with it was only lettuce brown and inedible drenched in ranch dressing . My partner ordered a clubhouse on white and received it on brown without being told , as they were out of white bread . I went there to pick up a to-go order. Immediately after I got in the restaurant and told the lady that I'm here to pick up the order, for absolutely no reason to me, she rolled up her eye balls on me and told me very coldly: it's not ready, you wait outside and I'll bring it to you when it's ready. I asked her how much longer it'll take. She said 5 minutes. So I went outside of the door and waited. After more than 10 minutes of waiting I went back in to ask her if it's ready now. Out of nowhere she said with very bad attitude: I'm not a machine how can I make it for you? I was totally speechless at this point. After a few more minutes she brought the order to me and heavily dropped it on the table by the door, and dropped a "you're welcome" on me with her back to me. I was wearing a mask all the time even when I was waiting outside of the door. I kept my voice low all the time. The restaurant was filled by less than 1/3 for the whole time. I really don't know what was with me as a customer made her so excitingly mad. If there was something of me turned her that way from the first second she saw me, I'm so SORRY! Not bad! For about 6$ you can get a decent plate of breakfast that will surely keep you satisfied and full. However, nothing really stood out; the food although delicious was something I could have made at home. The atmosphere is simply OK, the music was quiet and tables were kind of close to each other.
