Delicious, fresh omakase. The fish is usually flown in from Japan. Please note: reservations are required, so you will be turned away if you try to enter without one (the amount of fish available for the day depends on the reservations).

If I could give this place more than 5 stars. I would. It was the best sushi experience I have had. Hands down. Although with the current dining restrictions not allowing us to sit at the sushi bar, Keith manages to make sure the omakase experience intimate and personable. He explains how his menu will progress, where the fish come from and stories behind all the ingredients, including making his own soy sauce! We had the pleasure of enjoying a fish from his home town in Japan. With every presentation, he talks about the fish, giving you great appreciation for his art work. His supply is flown in every week and changes with the seasons. What you get is truly the highest quality. I'll be honest, I've never been big on eating mackerel sashimi or uni due to the strong tastes but Keith has changed me forever! I almost can say that the aburi mackerel May have been my favourite piece .. but I did say that pretty much every time I ate a piece. It was absolutely delicious! This is a hidden gem in PoCo that I'd highly recommend if you're wanting a special night out. Hats off Chef Keith!

Found this new place near my house that was recently opened up. To be fair, I usually try to come a few times before making a final decision. So this review is based on life 1st initial visit. Ordered a sushi bento and beef teriyaki bento. Placing the order was simple. Just call them up and told them what I wanted and there was no issues upon picking up. Staff were really friendly and the owner/chef also took the time to say hi to people coming into his restaurant. I do the scan of the restaurant as well as the food prep areas and noticed everything was clean and wiped down. It didn't take long to get the food home and to give it a try. With the chocken or beef bentos, you get salad, miso soup, shrimp sunomono, tempura and california and dynamite rolls. No rice came with the bentos. The taste of the food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the sunomono as you normally don't get that with bento boxes. The California and dynamite rolls were pretty good. And the sushi bento that I ordered tasted very fresh! I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

Omakase but all at once _ My friend had been raving about this place for about a year now and I have never been able to go with him because I work late on Thursdays. That's when the fresh fish is flown in from Japan is served The day finally came and it was so worth the wait to come to this hidden gem You can order from their fresh selection and everything comes at once that's plated accordingly to be eaten in the right order Naturally, each piece is brushed with its proper sauce. The chef gives a smaller portion of rice but the slice of fish is larger than most places - that way you can really taste the fish _ From left to right: Red Tuna Flounder Fin - Holy shit this is a must order! He torches it and it's buttery melt in your mouth! Mackeral Tigers Eye - This is the chefs creation! Salmon on the bottom with chopped scallop on top. Amaebi Foie Gras - I was hesitant to try because I've had it once and it tasted a little off to me but this melted in my mouth and I'm loving foie gras Tamago - I'm always on the hunt for delicious tamago This one was the right amount of sweetness and you bet I ordered a second piece! Uni - I love how it's served in a cup! Who else doesn't really like it with seaweed? It overpowers the uni and it gets too soggy since I like to leave it for last _ The decor is another reason to visit! The chef loves rock music and the restaurant is decked out in rock album covers!

Had the omakase today with my husband. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Quite different from other sushi bars since it was covered with rock and roll paraphernalia. We decided to try the $80 per person Omakase menu. It was very good. High quality fishes imported from Japan.

Came here on a tip, after hearing a certain someone rave about this place. Parking is plentiful here as it's part of a strip mall. Getting in is a bit tricky. The place is run by a Japanese couple. The husband is an avid American rock/heavy metal. Seriously, how often do you hear stuff like AC/DC while doing Japanese fine dining? As my friend knew what to order, some of the items we had were off the menu. Unfortunately, that also meant that I had no idea what the items were call. Hopefully the pics will speak for themselves. Tuna sampler - tuna chunks done in 4 different ways. Each one was so different, I can't describe them. But it was freaking good. Tiger eye - chopped scallop served wrapped in salmon sashimi (not farmed) with green onions and tobiko on top. The rest of the dishes were really good. The toro was nice and buttery. So was most of the fish here. Dinner overall was a bit pricer (but nowhere near downtown pricing), but the quality is here. This would be a great place to take a date. Recommended.

I never had sushi or Japanese food in Port Coquitlam. Looking up on Yelp to see which Japanese restaurant was good or above average, this was the one! This Japanese restaurant has a rock and roll interior design including the bathroom. Very cool. Usually Japanese restaurants have Japanese design or Asian style, but this one is very unique! I came here for dinner. Surprisingly the restaurant was not busy at all on a Friday night! No wait. Got a table right away and received great service. There were two servers and two chefs. One of the servers gave a brief introduction of their food and menu. Their menu design is tiny and there are not too many choices comparing to the ones in Vancouver. I ordered a BC roll, Albacore crunch roll, special scallop and appetizer sashimi. All of the food tasted great. Only the portion was smaller. I thought the prices at this restaurant in Port Coquitlam would be less expensive comparing to the ones in Vancouver but surprisingly their prices are the same as Vancouver's. I could find cheaper prices at Sushi Ville on Commercial Drive. Overall it was a good experience at this restaurant. If you ever visit Port Coquitlam and look for a good Japanese restaurant, you should try this one.

Sushi K had, without a doubt, the most fresh and delicious sushi I've ever had consistently with each piece. The head chef and owner, Keith, is a master of his craft. The presentation, along his the flavours, were perfect. And he's a great guy too. Eating at Sushi K was absolutely the culinary highlight of my stay in Vancouver. And his shop is adorned with really cool heavy metal merchandise. And if you're a fan of Devin Townsend... get over there! I can't wait to go back!

After starting off the evening with dessert at Matteo's Gelato, we found this sushi place around the corner that was flooded with rave reviews on Yelp, so we had to give it a try. If people are happy with Miku / Minami, then you should go to Sushi K Kamizato b/c the prices are slightly lower but you get such good quality sushi and fish! Even better if you're in the Coq side, its much closer. While the prices are more expensive in general, the decor / atmosphere has an electric guitar in the corner, with records plaster on the wall, and rock 'n roll inspired names. Its fun, but not "posh & high end / classy", like Miku / Minami. Its a different vibe, but its cool! It seats 22 people, with a small bar area - really intimate! Apparently there's an omakase menu, which will be cool to consider for next time, and especially interesting if you can get seated at the bar! We ordered items off the menu, but didn't realise (until after we ordered), that they had off-menu specials, so ask about this! They had foie gras nigiri, whelk, red tuna, and a few other creations. And even better, if you happen to be sitting at the sushi bar and Keith is working, you can probably chat him up a bit (if he's not too busy). I ordered a chopped scallop sushi, few pieces of wild salmon nigiri, and we shared a few special rolls. One of the rolls that stand out in particular is the Tri Cities Roll: Tuna + radish roll, with torched tuna on top. The torched fish gave it a nice smokey flavor, it was amazing! I gotta say, my fav items were still the basics: chopped scallop, and absolutely the wild salmon. It was a deep red color, it had such a clean flavor.. at first, I really didn't want to pay $3 / nigiri (since its usually around $1-$1.20 at other standard places), but seriously - its WORTH it. I was tempted to just go for the other different menu items, and while its great to try that, please don't overlook the wild salmon nigiri / sashimi. Service was decent, our server kept offering refills on tea (which is nice, since i've been to places where you have to constantly flag them down). Sorry for the lack of pictures - I ate everything too fast, before realizing I forgot to take pics!

Well thanks to the clunky yelp app, I'm going to have to write this review again from scratch so here's the quick close notes version: - high quality food - interesting rock n' roll decor - service was good on the quiet Saturday evening we were here - bit pricier than other places, a tuna go-mae appetizer and salmon donburi main was $32 before tax and tip

I don't even remember what most these are except for the bottom far right = bluefin I think lol & far bottom left = chopped scallop

My boyfriend had been raving about this place for months so naturally we went after finishing a final. We came about 30 min after opening and was seated right away. We ordered a 7 piece Omasake and two other pieces that my bf suggested (I suggest ordering at least the omasake here). We waited for about 30 min for our food which was understandable due to there being literally just one chef, but I can see this being annoying if I frequently came. Anyways, food was hella bomb holy like I loveeeeeeeee sushi and I'm too poor to go to Japan so this was truly great and the fish was fresh as fuk I couldn't be happier. Price was reasonable and overall service was great. The lady, the chef's wife, she even provided complimentary fish and yenno us Asian bitches love that free food. Ya I would defs come back hehe.

Amazing!! Did a bit of research before trying and wow was it ever worth it! This is not your run of the mill sushi joint with big portions and low prices though. Definitely a pricier option but high quality and fresh. The 'secret menu' at first was 'unavailable' but it did not take much coercion for the waitress to give us a bunch of options which included red tuna, tiger eye, foie gras!! , fresh uni, and sea bass. Small restaurant with a cool rock n roll vibe. The chef definitely knows what he's doing, and his passion for fresh seafood shows in every dish he creates. I will definitely be coming back a lot!!

Amazing! This is an authentic sushi with the owner/chef trained in Japan. We sat at the bar on a Saturday night. There were a few regulars sitting around us. They didn't even order from the menu. The owner just served whatever he thought they'd like that night - how cool is that? Ordered a lot of the rolls on special. The s.p.y (scallop prawn yam) tempura was on point with a delicious sauce on the side. The nigiri (although a bit on the pricy side) was fresh and delicious. Had the uni and tiger eye....boy were they yummy! If they weren't so expensive...def would have ordered more (almost $5 each). Also had the tuna crunch roll - so good! And the tuna meatball on special...also good but not something i would crave. Other reviews mention how service is slow. Sure the food takes time to come out...but it's all part of the experience. Don't come here if you're in a rush. When we were there it was almost like they had too many servers. Lots of them were just standing around waiting to do something. Overall a fantastic sushi restaurant. Definitely one of the best I've ever been too! Can't wait to go back

A no-nonsense restaurant that has simple decorations, but really fresh food. Came on a weekday and had made a reservation, but it was quite quiet around dinner time. Isobe-Age (4/5) - $7.25 Taste: Never had an appy quite like this - raw tuna wrapped in tempura style seaweed. It was fresh, served warm, and the dashi broth that it was dipped in was delicious. The textures were complex, the fish was soft, while the seaweed was crunchy and somehow it worked. However, I'm not sure if I would have preferred this served as either a cold dish or a hot dish, but instead it was a bit of both? Portion Size: 4 pieces Deluxe assorted nigiri sushi (5/5) - $34.75 Taste: I would order this again in a heartbeat. They offer a wide selection of fish that is not served at most Japanese restaurants including shima-aji, homemade tamago, amaebi. I think the quality of the fish is extremely fresh and comparable to omakase spots in Vancouver. The tamago was especially delicious and I don't even typically prefer tamago. Portion Size: Good portion for 1 person [Value for Money] While it's quite far away from the city, I can vouch for the drive out. It's worth it to try this restaurant for the quality of its fish. Perhaps omakase you can get elsewhere, but the deluxe assorted sushi itself was WELL worth its price.

I am not privy to the contractual agreements that our local restaurants make with food delivery services such as Skip The Dishes, but if food costs begin to increase, certainly most customers will understand that restaurant prices must also increase in order to remain competitive in their quality after noticing a downward change in their fresh fish and teriyaki dishes, we tried adjusting our orders so we could obtain a quality dinner via delivery, even if it meant paying a little more - after all, it's the quality of the food and the taste of the sauces, etc that one is really looking for in a Japanese restaurant, not a cheap bargain for maki and nigiri items, and yet that seems to be exactly what Sushi Fu seems to have done - as if they refused to change their prices, and instead preferred to downgrade their customer's expectations and begin cutting corners in ways that made it impossible to remain a customer - at least in our case the final straw occurred when Sushi Fu appear to have started using cheaper nori, and then serving maki that seemed to have been made more than a day in advance and then improperly stored - making for food items that became nothing short of totally revolting - tough grains of rice around dry salmon, wrapped in tough and tasteless nori that was utterly impossible to leave in the mouth, let alone swallow.. I still shudder when I recall the last meal we ordered from them - totally unacceptable maki and salmon teriyaki that left a sour taste in the mouth and was served on a bed of mostly cheap onion slices I suppose that being an expert sushi chef outside of Japan doesn't also guarantee the expected expertise in choosing food supplies at market, so my thoughts ran to the possibility of poor decisions and uninformed food changes being made by Sushi Fu, where price was the only consideration that could not be changed, and predictably the entire experience that had been so carefully crafted for years was now left in ruins
