Very friendly service, and pretty quick as well. this place is famous for its BBQ chicken salad, but it was large we didn't want to get it. As we were waiting for our tacos, we saw half salads come out and a guy walked in and ordered a half salad even though it wasn't on the menu nor happy hour. Next time. Gina asked if it was our first time and if we wanted chips and salsa. I said sure, but the I saw on the menu it cost $. Amigo's used to be a very good Mexican spot for lunch. Sadly things have changed. The lady at the front counter needs some customer service training...not friendly nor helpful at all. The prices have gone up considerably ($13 for a burrito) and the quality of the food has diminished likewise. The sourpuss asked if I wanted chips and salsa, which used to be part of the meal and said there was a charge for them...I declined. I ordered a carne asada burrito which came out with a leathery cold tortilla. There was very little carne asada in it, mainly beans and rice, and it was cold throughout. They used to have a great salsa bar, but now it's dirty mostly empty bottles of hot sauce. I didn't want to ask Ms Sourpuss for some salsa, thinking she'd probably charge me for it anyway. I quietly mentioned upon leaving that my burrito was cold and the Sourpuss became very defensive. There are so many Mexican spots around that are so much better with great customer service and way better food. I wouldn't waste your time at Amigo's. read more

This place rocked my socks for Mexican in the south! The owner spent time in CA (which is where I'm from and the marker as to which I judge all Mexican food). Salsa was fresh and has great flavor. I got the carne asada burrito which was huge and very tasty. I added cilantro and pico de gallo just cause that's my preference. But it was good without. Margarita was strong and delicious! Went with 3 other people, we all got a different one....pollo and carne asada was delicioso, apparently so was the fried oyster burrito. They give you plenty of food....4-5 homemade salsas to garnish, and tortilla chips to go with. We sat at the bar and the owner (?) was very friendly and chatted with us. Atmosphere was "authentic" mexican...colorful, terracotta, tiny....The place was steadily busy, and with a lot of take-out customers, so that must say something. And it is right next to Kroger's...my advice: enjoy a Killer Burrito and get stuffed, then do your grocery shopping. It'll help you to not over-spend. (Like McDonald's?) Anyway like everywhere else on Hilton head this place is way over priced. My hometown mex place my family can eat for $20-$25. This place cost $40! Our food was served on PAPER PLATES. We ate with PLASTIC forks and knives. The burrito I had was largely mediocre at best. The grease soaked into my paper plate. When I cut it with a knife the paper plate was cut as well. The best thing about this place is you pay upfront and drinks are self serve so there is no need to tip the staff. read more

I wish I could give this location no stars. This was my first time at this location and my impression was anything but good. To begin, the front woman (short with reddish hair) at the cash register probably never had any customer service experience in her life. I kindly asked her if I could split my bill and immediately she told me no with a nasty look on her face. When I explained to her the reason why, she publicly humiliated me in front of everyone waiting to either pick up or place an order. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and had people ask me to split bills for WAY LESS than what my total was and I did so without judgment. Secondly, the food was mediocre. There was barely any meat in my meal and soggy like it had been sitting there for 20 minutes or more. Mind you we picked the order up during the time frame they had told us. The food lacked flavor and should not even be considered Mexican. If the customer service is that bad, the food should at least make up for it. This place has nothing going for itself. read more

I was not impressed with this place or the food! It's an American style Mexican taco shop. No where near the authentic food they claim. As a Mexican/American I say no mas! The burritos are killer, but they lack True Mexican flavor, and are so over stuffed that they should just put the filling on a plate, and serve them with tortillas on the side. I prefer Moes over this place, and I dont like Moes. It has it's regulars, but not one time have I ever seen a Mexican enter or leave this place. So here's the deal - the place is cute and small, staff is friendly and helpful. Seems they get tons of regulars and I totally dig that. However, the BBQ chicken salad was recommended and so were the burritos. So we ordered the salad and carnitas (pork) burrito with everything in it. I had super HIGH expectations for the salad so maybe this is why I am saying this - it was just ok. I sort of enjoyed it but I would not order it again. Plus, I think the burrito was missing items in it like the sour cream because it was SUPER dry. Once we got some extra sour cream it tasted a bit better. A variety of menu items from tacos, burritos, salads, and quesadillas. The menu is well rounded to please anyone from a vegetarian, the die hard meat eaters, and even the local pallet with fried oyster tacos and burritos.
