We've been by this spot dozens of times when visiting family in the area, but typically go for the excellent local seafood and bbq. Today, I needed a taco fix. Living in Southern California, we have no shortage of great Mexican food and I particularly like small family owned places. La Parrilla did not disappoint! Drop what you're doing and go to this place. The food is AMAZING!!! BTW- Yelp lists the wrong address. It's at 2961 Okatie Hwy. Don't be put off by the location. It's a hole in the wall. There are maybe a dozen tables filled with Hispanic people with Spanish language TV playing in the background. I had to ask what some of the dishes were. There's a menu in English and a supplemental menu that's all in Spanish. I ordered the Enchiladas Huastecas. La Huasteca is a geographical and cultural region along the Gulf of Mexico. I had to Google that. Back to the food...The enchiladas were divine. The enchilada sauce had layers of rich flavor, finishing with enough heat to leave your lips tingling. The last time I had a Mexican sauce this good was at the Frontiera Grill in Chicago, one of my all time favorite restaurants. My sister ordered crunchy beef tacos. They were packed with flavor and served with a rice so delicious that we brought the leftovers home. If you need beautiful plating and atmosphere, this is not your place. If you'd like delicious, authentic Mexican food, treat yourself and go! One issue. They don't have a liquor license, and the right margarita would have made this out of this world. First time here and we absolutely loved their authentic Mexican Food. Carne asada dinner and carne asada tacos were so delicious. They are generous with their portions. The grilled onion and chili peppers really add to it. I am a big "tripas" taco fan aka chittlings and here they prepared them to my request of extra crispy,the best I've had. We also ordered enchiladas which by the way are prepared the authentic Mexican way...so yummy! Their agua de horchata was creamy and deliciously refreshing. We even ordered a Huarache to go,which was great too. The place is nothing fancy but the staff is friendly and attentive. We had lunch here a couple of weeks ago, we actually stumbled on to the place by chance because the Mexican restaurant where we'd planned on eating was closed unexpectedly. I didn't expect much from this place based on the gas station /strip mall location but I was very pleasantly surprised. Don't judge a book by its cover. The food was hot, fresh, and fast. Portions were sizeable, beef and veggie burritos both great. Guacamole was creamy and fresh. Chips were crispy and fresh and the salsa was tasty. Most of the other clientele in the place appeared to be Spanish speaking, as were the staff. That's usually a sign of good, authentic food. It was. We will be back soon. read more

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and almost didn't. The address listed on Yelp is wrong. It is actually 2961 N Okatie Highway ,Okatie SC. Glad we persisted and drove another mile or so down the road. When we got there we told the young lady who greeted us that the address was wrong. She said that she knew and that Yelp had been notified but nothing happened. We started with the guacamole and chips. After a longer then anticipated wait we were brought a plate of hot fresh chips along with some of the best guacamole we've had in a long time. The wait was worth it. My wife had a traditional Mexican drink that she loved,I settled for a diet coke. Followed by Chimichangas and my wife chose a couple dishes I dont recall the name of. This is probably my favorite place for tacos in Bluffton. They are quick and the food is seasoned especially well. I got the Carne Asada tacos and they were to die for. The most authentic tacos I have found in Bluffton. It is great for a quick cheap meal. read more

Basic atmosphere with very good food prepared by women who know how to make some of the best Mexican food in the area (Okatie, Bluffton, Hilton Head and Beaufort). La Parilla constantly serves great, authentic Mexican food. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, but all the best places are. The huaraches are amazing and all of the food is VERY fresh (I've never had pink lettuce). We consistently come in the moment they open for early lunch and they're always friendly and happy to see us. You can peek back into the kitchen to see that it's very clean and kept neat, I've never had a problem with anything I've eaten here. What can be said about this hole in the wall taco shop? The place isn't gourmet, (it's not trying to be) it's not set in a beautiful setting, it's not romantic, it's not pretentious. What I was when we went...WAS GREAT!! I had the 3 carnitas taco plate. My youngest son had a kids quesadilla with rice and beans (choice of black or pinto) my oldest had chicken quesadilla, and our guest had a steak burrito. The burrito was huge. And stuffed with steak, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, guacamole and more steak. I asked if I could try it, but it was so good, my friend finished it before he could spare a bite. My oldest ate every bit of his dinner. And my Carnitas, we're possibly the best I've ever had. That goes for some my grandmother or my mom have ever made. The chips were fresh made to order. And the salsa was really good. It's not going to win any awards for beauty, but the food and prices are spot on. BTW...they serve a variety of Jaritos. (Mexican sodas) and they also have a drink I've only had growing up in a Mexican household. .. Horchata! It's a cinnamon flavored drink, made with rice water. In an area that has no shortage of Mexican restaurants, this one takes the cake as being the most authentic. There are little things to quibble over, but their cactus salsa is the best I have had. Best of all, there is a buffet (I know this sounds scary, a Latin buffet) at lunch that always has a number of delicious options. There are moles, salsas, guac, and taquitos to name just a few of the items. You should not worry about ordering off the menu either, their Chimichanga is the best I have ever eaten! Well worth the visit if you are in the area, and you wouldn't go wrong with going a little out of your way as well.
