We had such an amazing meal here!! I came with family, party of 7, during a super busy night. They were so sweet and accommodating in getting us a table with a short wait. During the wait, they kept us informed many times of the status of how long our table would be. And when I say "they" it was mostly the manager, I don't know if he was the owner or manager, but you could tell he cared a lot about the customers experience. He checked on us several times, and was so helpful to the staff, seating tables, running food, and doing everything a good manager should do. Our server was also fantastic, she was helpful in answering all our questions and dealing with a hungry large party during a slammed night. The food was so much better than we expected! My husband loved his big fat smothered chimichanga, the crèmea sauce was phenomenal. I loved my smoked chicken taco (bowl) with added pinto beans, so delicious. So last night I decided to get 3 tacos - 1 smoked chicken, 1 coconut shrimp and 1 fish taco. I was afraid that I wouldn't like the smoked chicken as I really don't care for smoked meats, but this was delish. I would order again. 5 stars The coconut shrimp was good for the first few bites. Shrimp was good & not soggy, I liked the shredded mango. But about halfway in, it was a bit overwhelming. and started dripping what looked like a teriyaki sauce. I'd probably skip this one next time. 3.5 stars. The fish taco was yucky from the first bite. To start with, I asked if they could sub shredded lettuce for the coleslaw, but they forgot. Instead of sending it back I just tried to scrape off the coleslaw. The fish was breaded and the coleslaw made the breading soggy. Plus the fish had a mealy texture which was very off-putting. Would not order this again. This was a 1. I got cilantro rice with black beans as my side. Black beans were decently seasoned but the rice was meh. Overall a 3.5. I think our server was new, he seemed a little unsure about a lot of things. Not the best service, but not terrible either. He missed the lettuce/coleslaw sub request and brought hubby cilantro rice instead of Mexican rice. I'd give him a 3. Luckily no one was sitting at the seats at the table by us. A guy swept some of it up but a lot was under a table. And it was dripping. Someone could've easily slipped in it. Bathroom was gross. There was a hole in the floor and you can see the plumbing. They also had an electrical outlet next to the sink with an electric air freshener plugged in...did I mention BY THE SINK!?!? This is without a doubt the worst Mexican food on the island. I had the enchilada meal with the green sauce. The sauce was super salty, hardly any ground beef. It was a bowl of goo. The rice was more like sticky rice and the refried beans served as if they dumped them out of a can and globbed them on a side dish. The second visit it was okay. Not saying how just that it was a different experience. As far as food my first visit the mahi-mahi burrito was very tasty, I found it odd the side was chips and salsa since that was already on the table. Second visit I got the steak and blue cheese quesadilla which was very good. We had a large group on my second visit and half complained later that their food was either just warm or getting cold. I didn't have this issue, mine was great. We did have 13 people in our party so depending on the kitchen staff this may have been just an issue of timing but still want to mention it. I have gone to SERG restaurants for many years and use to order takeout from here all the time. It was usually adequate sometimes even good. With this recent order, I don't even know where to start. We made multiple requests and spoke to someone who seemed nice and competent, but everything arrived differently than we ordered. We asked for jalapeños on the side not on the nachos but they arrived on them, we asked for plain grilled chicken on a salad and what we received was not plain nor was it at all good. The salad also came with crema which wasn't indicated when we asked for everything on the side. On another note of simple disappointment the steak fajitas have plummeted in quality and taste, and were so over cooked and bad my father described as needing to "saw" through them, and the steak was not ordered well done. The chicken fajitas were just as bad, and not sure why they use dark meat chicken without indicating. Added to all these frustrations it has gone up in price and way down in quality. I do not recommend, which I am sad to say as I generally like SERG restaurants and we use to have great experiences ordering from here. Very sad to see "another one bite the dust". read more

The queso tasted more like flour paste than cheese, the blackened mahi burrito bowl fish chunks were dry and tasteless, and the pork belly tacos didn't have a different taste or appearance than the other tacos in the trio. We were told if we wanted the happy hour specials we had to sit at the bar as they didn't have the wait staff to accommodate sitting at high tops. Hmmm - didn't love that idea (again the place was not busy & did not get busy while we're there) but we sat at the bar as that is what the hostess told us we had to do. Maybe the hostess could pitch in and help serve a high top in the bar when they aren't busy? Great way to cross train employees on a slow night. We ordered drinks and saw on the menu that we could get the free chips & salsa. Surprised we had to ask rather than it just appearing. Well - the free salsa tasted like ketchup mixed with chunky marinara sauce. The chips didn't taste fresh - maybe they were from a bag & not homemade? Other items we ordered: cheese enchilada - the tortilla was hard and the cheese inside was not hot. Tortilla soup - again, not hot. Nachos - were good - the chips tasted like freshly made. Queso - not spicy or temperature hot. Everything seemed to have a lot of sour cream "iced" on it like the lettering on a birthday cake. Just a bit too much sour cream for my liking. This was my first time visiting Holy Tequila, and it was an overall good experience. The complementary chips and salsa were fantastic! I got the taco sampler and was pleasantly surprised by my tacos. Our waitress was great, very friendly and provided great service. I gave 4/5 stars because our first impression of the restaurant was not great. We came in without a reservation at about 5:30 on a Wednesday evening for dinner, and the restaurant was pretty much empty. However, we were told by the 3 hostesses that we could only sit outside or it would be a 1-2 hour wait. Surprised by their unfriendliness, we started to leave to go somewhere with air condition, when they quickly stopped our party of 7 adults and magically had a table inside ready for us immediately. We ended up having a great experience, due to the great food and our friendly waitress. As someone who worked in the food service industry for many years, I recommend teaching the hostesses to be more friendly to customers. read more

Group of 8 (4 adults/4 older teens) came here because our rental home owner left us a $50 gift card to use here, and we love Mexican food! Juan was our server and was very blunt/direct (no joking/smiles) from the start, We asked about virgin daqueries or margaritas for kids and he was like, "no, virgin drinks." OK... then I asked about a frozen daqueries for me. He responded, "no frozen drinks except regular margaritas but the machine isn't working." His tone and answers came off rude. I don't think he meant to, but his responses were abrupt, rude and slightly annoyed by our indecision when we could not get the drink we wanted. It felt like hurry up and order. He did bring us waters promptly and our drinks came out quickly. He delivered our drinks and then walked away for a very long time. (We were there on a Tuesday night at 7:30, so not crazy crowded at all.) We noticed him at the table next door asking if anyone wanted dessert. He was about to walk away when we asked if we could get some appetizers. He obliged as if it was no problem, but we felt like he wouldn't have come by if we hadn't asked him to come back. While placing the app order, we also placed our dinner order. Apps came out super fast. We ordered queso dip and the 3 dips (guacamole, queso and salsa). Dips were good but chips were starting to go stale. Other than the chips, the food was EXCELLENT! Really, really good. We were all having a great time and enjoying the evening. When it was time to do the bill, we told him we had the gift card. Juan scoffed at us and said, "we haven't taken that gift card for 3 months now." RUDE!!! We were disappointed, of course, but his rudeness is what overshadowed the good food. After the gift card issue, Juan then assertively said so one check then? We said no, two checks and we're about to show how to split it when he interrupted to say "okay then just split down the middle?" Again, his tone was commanding versus questioning. At this point, things were getting super uncomfortable. So we did one check and worked it out among ourselves. Gratuity of 18% was included for parties of six and over, so we did not leave anymore which is not like us. We 100% would have left more if he wasn't so rude. Even our two 18 year olds in the group, who just started jobs as servers, couldn't believe how rude he was. Food: The shrimp tacos were great, the sauza enchiladas, which had come highly praised to me were mediocre with minimal green chili drizzle and what appeared to be mild cheddar out of a bag melted on top. The meat was ok, but an enchilada is supposed to have sauce on it. Service: abysmal at best. Server was a handsome young man. After we were seated, it took 15 min for our waiter to show up. He took our order and vanished, from our table anyway. About 45-60 minutes later we got our order. Minus the expensive chips and Salsa we had ordered, and chopped Jalapeño on the side for the verde sauce on the enchiladas. When we were finished with our slow and so-so supper, I pointed out to the waiter shortcomings above . He was not happy and insisted he had attended our table regularly which was not true. A side note, a table adjacent to ours with 6 people told us they had a similar experience with that same waiter at the same time we did. They were only there for takeout and it took them as long as for our " romantic dinner". The waiter plead that he had just Gotten out of the military . I asked if he was released because he couldn't take orders. Not a great experience for a fairly upscale restaurant.
