Smothered Chicken, coleslaw, red beans and rice

Historical meets Service, and they can cook a great meal too. Nothing like getting good service at a historical land mark. This cafe is clean, efficient, and a delight to a travelers senses. Set my expectations low when finding highly recommended spots. Pork chop was the star today. Juicy and cooked to perfection. Fresh vegetable sides come in second. Third place is the coleslaw. Seasoned well and bites of sugar and vinager. The smothered chicken becomes tiresome by the second chicken breast. It's covered in their spinach and artichoke dip. Good, just needs a lite side to balance between bites. Red beans and rice is authentic. Just nothing I'd order again. Will be back. Look forward to the fried green tomatoes and saving room for the rum bread pudding. Did I mention the damn and river views? Patio is the place to be.

Out for a drive and ran across the Amis Mill eatery while looking for waterfalls. we found this place and the waterfall (actually it was the spillover from and old dam). The Eatery looked very rustic and quaint with some folks eating out on their screened in porch that overlooked the dam and "waterfall". We were greeted upon entering by a smiling staff and were seated out on the porch per our request. There were some good selections to chose from. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the pulled pork dinner. Our waitress was very nice and our food was very good too. So we found a very nice venue with helpful friendly staff and great food. That's a great combination.

Amazing views from the outdoor seating! Burgers were the best thing here! Would definitely come back.

My husband and I enjoyed our lunch at the Amis Mills restaurant. The food was really good. They have the BEST fried green tomatoes! We got seated right away and our food did not take long to come out. It really didn't matter if you took longer than it did because we sat outside and sitting next to the damn is very relaxing and the weather was great.

I came here with my wife and her parents. The service and ambiance was great. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and peppered, but the queso mac was a little bland. I expected more of a kick to it. My wife had the smothered chicken and that's what I will probably have the next time we go.

Great food and great staff. My family dined at Amis Mill yesterday for dinner and it did not disappoint. If you are traveling along interstate 81 and have some spare time, I definitely recommend stopping by to dine. My son went with the ribs and the meat was falling off the bone and I went with the ribeye and it was easily the best steak I ever had. Thank me later!

Great atmosphere! The prime rib special is awesome. The second time I ate was not as great but was still good.

The voodoo kicked it up a notch with just the right heat--spicy, bold, and full of flavor. If you like a little fire, go voodoo! But the real surprise? That praline cream cheese spread!!! Sweet, creamy, with a nutty crunch that added the perfect southern charm. We honestly wanted to put it on everything! The vibe was just as good as the food--laid-back, soulful, and full of flavor. We'll definitely be back.

The decor is right on point. Cozy, downtown vibe with some New Orleans flair. The rest of the experience is very casual. Order at the bar and food delivered to the table in plastic baskets and utensils. This wasn't what I was expecting, but after getting the food I didn't care. We rolled the dice on the Hop Cakes appetizer and they were a fantastic surprise. I didn't know what to expect, but gobbled them up. I wanted to go traditional for my first visit and got the red beans and rice and was not disappointed. My wife got the gumbo and said it was on par with the best she has ever had. The food was not as spicy as traditional Cajun but that actually worked great for us. We like a little spice but want to be able to taste the quality ingredients that were used. If you want to bring the heat, grab some hot sauce to "pepper the gumbo" as they say in the bayou.

** DO NOT KNOW WHY YELP CHANGED NAME TO ABOVE!!! I initially created business page under the name…read more"The French Quarter @ Sonny's Marina" as this place is located in the Johnson City area and not the Kingsport area. Right on the waters of Boone Lake... huge bar with seating for 25+ folks with 30+ tables for dining and enjoying the sun and the view... Chatted with the proprietor when me and my cousin stopped in while we were cruising the lake just before the 4th of July. Enjoyed a couple of beers. He has a nice selection of Louisiana Abita beers (Amber, Purple Haze, Turbo Dog, Andygator etc...) Several beers on tap plus good selection of bottled beer as well. Does not offer spirits or liquor however. As you would expect from the name this place has a LA flair and the proprietor advised he started cooking his version of "Louisiana cuisine" so that he could gain entry into the many festivals that are held in the Tri-City area as he pretty much is the only vendor offering "Louisiana cuisine". While we were chatting and enjoying a beverage or 3 had several couples stop in from the land side (as opposed to the water side) and sit down for a meal. My cousin and I did not partake of any menu offerings but the folks there did seem to enjoy the food that was being prepared. If you're out on Boone Lake and running toward the Johnson City side of the lake I'd highly recommend a stop in to give this place a try. Because a native Louisianian is the one writing this review and offering the recommendation!!!
