I made an appointment and was seen right away. The place was nice and quiet, as expected. Cute decor up front in the waiting area. I had a great microdermabrasion facial with my esthetician. I have used this Spa and Deepa for eyebrow threading, antiaging facials and laser to the face and underarms. I have been extremely pleased with the laser hair removal as it is painless, quick and long lasting. The facial that Deepa gives is amazing. Her products are organic and have the best scents (rose, eucalyptus, etc) but are not overpowering. Deepa also gives a hand and foot massage with the facial which are wonderful. My skin always glows afterwards! She is also so kind and caring when providing her services and will make sure you are comfortable and satisfied. I am so in love with my brows after visiting the Amita's on S Clinton. I mean, she did a perfect job! Full yet totally clean and shaped. Every time I come here I get great service but this time really blew me away. And they are being super careful with COVID, too. I've recently moved to the area. Back home, I've been a threading customer for many years. Please do yourself a favor and do not go here! The salon itself is decorated nicely. I waited under five minutes for an eyebrow threading. The esthetician did not take any time with me. Someone was waiting and she seemed very rushed. My service time was under three minutes for $15. She sat me down and it was so rushed. She went to town. And she went way above my brow into my hairline. I kept feeling like she was possibly taking off too much. When I got in my car I looked in the mirror and brows were so butchered, taking off YEARS of growth and not uniformed at all. I prefer an eyebrow threading because it keeps the brow shape without sacrificing too much like waxing can do. Do not go here. I will be spending tons of money and time to fix and grow back what she has messed up for me. read more

Hmmm... I've been here a few times and today will be my last. Unlike its name, there is nothing express about this shop. I wait upwards of 10 minutes each time I visit and today was no different. After waiting 25 minutes, the employee comes and does my brows in 2 minutes. I wasn't happy and asked her to fix some spots which she also rushed through. During my 25 minute wait she was in a back room with no customer and left to heat things up in a microwave. There is typically the same employee, although she is nice, it gets busy with only one person. She used to do a good job while also being efficient but I'm not interested in waiting for extended periods just to leave not satisfied. Still on the search for a hood threading place if you have any suggestions! read more

I'm torn about my rating. The threading itself was pretty good. Not the best I've had (I've been threading my eyebrows for about 7 years) but not the worst either. The actual threading I'd give a 3. The price though, $12? 1 star. I moved here from NYC & used to do my eyebrows at a small place in my Queens neighborhood where I paid $4. If my regular girl wasn't available I would do my eyebrows near my job @ a place on 23rd & 8th where I paid $6. Both places did execellent work, my eyebrows were always flawless. So why it cost $12 here is beyond me. I have not seen any other places in Rochester that offer threading, so maybe it's just a matter of charging whatever they want since there isn't competition. If I went and left with perfect brows I would be much more willing to part with my $12 to do my brows, but for a 3 star job, no thanks. read more

You do usually have to wait, even if you make an appointment, because I've only ever seen Amita in there doing any of the threading. However, she's quick and efficient and gives my brows great shape. I've been going to Amita's for about 6 years (since her shop was out of her basement!) I've always walked out of there with fabulous eyebrows. I used to get my brows waxed, but since I have sensitive skin I would end up with red, puffy irritated skin. Threading, in my opinion, is less painful and never leaves my skin irritated. I love that Rochester has an alternative to waxing. I've never been comfortable with the idea of waxing because it takes of the top layer of skin and threading eliminates this issue. I do not like the open kiosks in the mall locations because I haven't been able to find consistency with the results. However, this salon is run by the owner herself and no matter if it's the owner or one of her staff who greets me, I always feel welcome. I always leave here satisfied. The process of brow threading is quick and relatively painless. If you have sensitive skin and you want your eyebrows shaped or if you have been curious about giving this a try, I recommend going to this salon first rather than the mall locations. read more

One person boutique. I walked in today and waited about 20 min before she was able to thread my eyebrows. No big deal on the time waited. But, I've had waxing done that I think creates a better shape than the threading. Maybe I just need to voice the look I'd like? Overall, she's friendly and her prices are competitive with most salons for eyebrow waxing/threading. I'll be back in a few weeks and see if she can shape a bit better. read more

I called and scheduled an appointment for a facial for myself and my sister at the S. Clinton location; providing my name and contact info. On the day of our facials, we arrive and were told that she tried to contact us. I pulled out my phone--no missed calls, no voicemails. We were informed that there was only one person working that day. So what my sister and I received was a facial that consisted of one person running back and forth between our rooms. She started my facial...leaves room...starts my sisters facial...leaves her room, comes back to mine...etc, etc. This is how our facials were done--constant door closing, her leaving the room then coming back. It was the OPPOSITE of relaxing. The facial itself was okay. It was obviously rushed, and I felt like she did a poor job on extraction. Overall, I would not go back. read more

Not good service, I waited about 15 minutes for some one that walked in after me. She took her to the back to do what looked like her hair. When she finally called me I was done in 3 minutes. She rushed and didn't even take her time nor trim the brows with the scissors. My eyebrows are jacked up they look horrible. Deffo wont be returning!! Not worth $12 read more

Let me start by saying I never leave reviews but Amita spa and her staff (in ALL of her locations) are so incredible that I have to let people know! For reference I am a licensed cosmetologist with experience from working in NYC and Amita has nailed it when it comes to quality, knowledge, accuracy, professionalism, and an immaculately clean establishment. I've gotten threading, laser, Microderm abrasion and plan to do more. After the first laser session I noticed a significant decrease in hair! I was super impressed that with just one session I almost had no hair on my legs! For me that is huge! I am Indian myself and have always struggled with having excess hair in areas that were embarrassing. But not anymore! I opted for the full body laser and I am so glad I did! Also my eyebrows are always on "fleek" and I am really particular how I like them done! I would recommend this establishment hands down to everyone along with a 10 star rating if I could! read more

I am writing a review to say how the owner of amitas went out of her way to drive to a location to give me a credit for a certificate which no spa would. She has the most beautiful skin ever and heart. I feel horrible for the way I talked to her and hope she forgives me. I've been going to Amita for years and she truly knows what she's doing. She does an excellent job and it's fast and almost always painless. She is extremely knowledgeable about brows and skincare and will offer you tips if you ask! Her salon is always spotless and Deepa is always so kind and helpful as well. Whether you're looking for shaping or a simple cleanup, be sure to mention that at the beginning of your visit. I would encourage those to speak up when they hand you a mirror at the end of the visit as well, I assure you she wouldn't want you to leave without getting exactly what you wanted done. Love Amitas spa for eyebrow threading and laser hair removal. I have been a regular customer for 3 yrs and always left satisfied. The laser hair removal has been a life changing experience for me. Being extremely "hairy" to begin with, there is a significant reduction in hair growth/ thickness ( almost all gone). Now I do not have to think twice before wearing a dress because I never have to shave!!! Thank you Amita for making me a happy woman! Keep rocking.. Have been here once before and it was another woman who did my brows (not Amita). She did an AMAZING job-seriously made my weird in between thick/thin brows look arched and full. Was thrilled. Just went back and it was Amita who did them. Totally different results. Not sure if she was just rushed or actually not listening, but I basically have 2 straight lines on my face. After years of plucking, I asked her to leave them thick, and she just went to town, threading out any semblance of an arch and leaving them short. Went to the Marketplace Mall location to have my brows threaded. When the redness finally went down, I could see I was missing the first half inch of only one of my brows. Went back to ask for a refund and the woman who did my brows, Rita, said: "I did that?" and then proceeded to ask if I had waxed my eyebrows! My $10 threading ended up costing another $50 at Sephora to fix the missing half. read more

Worst salon experience EVER. I called well in advanvce because I had to reschedule my initial appt., because a family member had a life-threatening emergency. When I was able to come in for my appt. here, the woman who did (the hair removal) sat and berated me for about 10 minutes like I was a ill-behaved teenager just because I had to reschedule. The actual treatment was very shabbly done, despite the fact that I had even pre-paid her. THe cost of the treatment was WAY too high for the hair that was left behind! The woman who did my treatment was also suggesting that I ignore my Doctor's advice ( a well regarded specialist in the Rochester area), and listen to her advice, yet she has absolutely NO medical degree. I have never seen a more unprofessional, greedy, arrogant group of people in my life. Don't waste your hard-earned money here. read more
