My room was on the fourth level. There is NO elevator. However, staff will ask, and kindly offer assistance.

I was in the room the whole time though. I stayed about a week in Nov. It's like a 5-10 min walk from the convention center. There is pastries and bagels and milk for breakfast and other items. There's a fridge you can use. There's like a rule to put your name on your stuff if you use the fridge. I didn't follow the rule. I just bought a beer and put it in there and drank it the next day. No big problem. I think my favorite part was that on the day I was checking out they let me leave my carry on bag and backpack and I could come back for it later. I would definitely stay here again. I got the chance to explore the backbay area of Boston. This places isn't a five star hotel but I think it's five star for the type of place that it is. Back to my favorite part, on the day when I checked out I was able to check out and go out for a huge walk and come back and pick up my stuff.

I was waiting at the door, and when another guest arrived, I was able to enter the property, but the reservationist still had not arrived. After waiting for 30 minutes, I called him, and when he finally came, he spoke to me in a very rude tone and said that this delay was "normal." After sleeping in my room for about two hours, I realized that the room was extremely cold. My entire body was shaking because of the low temperature. I contacted the reception to ask for assistance, but instead of helping me, the staff spoke to me disrespectfully, insulted me, and made fun of my situation. I was polite throughout the conversation, but the receptionist responded with a rude attitude and laughed at my concerns. Because the situation became unacceptable, I called the police for assistance. After the police arrived, the hostel staff forced me to leave the property and refused to refund my money. They also behaved aggressively toward me and attempted to intimidate me. I have videos documenting the entire incident. I also contacted Booking.com regarding this issue, but they have not provided any effective solution so far. I strongly do not recommend this hostel. The property is not a safe or comfortable place to stay. The cleanliness was poor, the treatment of guests was disrespectful, and the management failed to handle a simple customer complaint professionally. Some other reviews mention that guests were not respectful toward the staff. However, when a room is so cold that a guest is physically shaking, is it reasonable to consider that temperature comfortable? Not everyone has the same tolerance for cold, and guests should not have to pay for a room without proper heating or a suitable solution. I was treated unfairly despite trying to communicate politely. The hostel told me that I had to pay a cancellation fee, they were the ones who removed me from the property. Until this time I didn't receive any money due to the problem that happen for me. The hotel on 14 didn't answer my phone and booking and it is not profesional. My mini lobster rolls were fantastic and my mocktail was refreshing. Wonderful location in the Back Bay neighborhood. Close to Boston Common, the library, and many great restaurants. I loved my room. The king size bed and pillows were very comfortable. I appreciated all the details. There was a TV, safe, steamer, robes, Nespresso machine, fridge, complimentary Voss water (both sparkling and still), and lights and curtains controlled with buttons. The bathroom was very spacious with hand towels on both sides of the sink, which I appreciated so my boyfriend and I could each have one. Spacious room and closets. They truly thought of everything. On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

Room: 5 Our room was impeccable with impressive personal touches and attention to detail. Little things like Fiji water, fresh soft towels (and a black towel for makeup), full array of toiletries, and a welcoming comfortable firm bed. Despite having alllll the things to do in Boston, I was excited to get back to that room and that bed, and I slept like a log. I like a good bed when I'm traveling and I would never stay at another place if I had the option. My favorite aspect was having a separate bedroom and living area (with pull out couch). All things comparable, I've stayed in a thousand hotels, I've traveled Boston thoroughly. This will be my go-to forever. Whether traveling single, as a couple, or with my kids, I will look at 284 first and foremost. Kid-friendly: yes! I would definitely stay here with my kids (ages 9, 11, 13). It is situated right near the Old South Meeting House and the Old State Building, which is smack-dab in the middle of the Freedom Trail. The room is clean and spacious and has plenty of amenities. We had a single queen with a standing shower, a desk with 2 chairs, a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, mini fridge, and even a small electric stovetop. A great room for a great price. The only thing I wish was different is the toilet: you have to "pump" the flush handle to get it to clear out, but it's manageable after you get the hang of it. The staff working here are attentive and kind. Juberto helped us with check in and check out (even let us check out an hour later at 1pm), and gave a friendly greeting every time we walked through the door. The English pub downstairs, Elephant & Castle, is a great respite after a long day sight-seeing and we appreciate Jimmy so much for how welcome he made us feel. We loved the comfortable bed. Firm but not too firm and our pillows were all very nice...a total of six of them....making it very good for me since I like to have at least two when I go to sleep. Politely contacted the manager, and though I initially didn't get a response, they sent the response to the wrong address. Ultimately, got a $345 credit towards a $1,265 stay. So, $307 a night. My rating doesn't really change due to lack of in-room amenities. - Location is close to several stations: Back Bay station for the T (orange line) and Amtrak and Copley (green line). - Hotel has 2 elevators. One is extremely small. The other is regular sized if you have more luggage or people. Both are very slow. Amenities: 3/5 - Our room had an in-room safe, small fridge/freezer, hair dryer, ironing, and toiletries. Scratchy towels. NO microwave or in-room coffee maker. - Common room is on the ground floor with a microwave, coffee machine, and vending machines with actually reasonably priced items, along with contraception! - No on-site guest laundry even though they have a sign that says they do. Cleanliness: 5/5 Comfort: 4/5 - Bed was a little soft for me, and the space is very small. AC had trouble cooling off to a comfortable sleeping temp. The common areas were very warm, so we were sweating. - Bathroom hardware needs fixing. Shower plate was loose. Sink cabinet edges were worn, scuffed, and scratched. Took a bit to understand how to get the right temp and pressure. Ambiance: 5/5 - Room and hotel in a modern but semi-historical style. - Cute, elegant little bar and cafe downstairs. Their french toast and bread pudding were amazing! Service: 4/5 - Front desk: Friendly but had trouble understanding during check-in that we wanted to store our luggage downstairs because we were in a hurry to drop off our rental car.
