I opted to walk to the Hynes convention center for bib pick up. One day prior to check in I got the opportunity for early check in which I quickly paid for. I arrived super early, and fortunately my room was ready! I was going to simply leave my bag to run errands but I got super lucky! Check in was super fast and easy, and I was given a coaster for a free drink at the trophy room next door. They have cookies during the afternoon, and a water refill station which came in handy. There is also a refrigerator that has sodas, snacks, that you can charge to your room. They also have bikes and umbrellas if you need them! The room was the perfect size. Stand up shower, tiny sink, and the bed was the absolute most comfortable. They give you 2 duvet covers so you don't have to share! In the room there is an espresso / coffee machine, and a reusable bottle, which I should have taken advantage of but I didn't. Also in the room is an adoptable stuffed puppy! I would absolutely stay here again. The hotel was quiet despite the trophy room downstairs being lively around the marathon.

I was traveling with my dog, so I appreciated that they're pet friendly, and the valet made everything super convenient. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area.

They ignored me when I needed help and I saw them do so to other people. I asked them to hold my luggage for a few hours when I checked out before heading to airport. When I picked it up, they pointed me to an area full of bags and said just go get yours, it'll be easier. Never asked for the ticket proving it was mine and I literally had to crawl over multiple bags and throw mine over them to get it out. I saw customers coming & going with luggage out of that space without anyone checking it was actually theirs. Every simple ask was met with a rude "what?", "huh?", etc. It seriously felt like everything was a bother, even asking something as simple as where the restroom was.

Located in a prime Back Bay location that's perfect for exploring Boston, the hotel has quickly become the city's "it" luxury property. While I believe it still has some work to do refining its service to meet the extraordinarily high standards associated with the Raffles name, I'm confident that will come with time as the frenzy surrounding this relatively new hotel settles down and the staff gains additional experience. The rooms are beautifully appointed and exactly what you would expect from a hotel in this category. The bedding is excellent, the views from the higher floors are terrific, and I especially appreciated the Saratoga water provided in the rooms... a personal favorite. The hotel's restaurant venues have become destinations in their own right and are understandably very popular. During my stay I enjoyed both Long Bar and Blind Duck (see my separate reviews). Unfortunately, I missed our family's dinner at La Padrona on this trip, they loved it. Given Chef Jody Adams' involvement, that's hardly surprising... she has an impressive track record... still think my many great meals at her Rialto restaurant. Raffles Boston is already an impressive addition to the city's luxury hotel scene. As the service continues to evolve and mature, I believe it has the potential to become one of Boston's truly great hotels.

The next day I emailed about early check-in and a rollaway bed. The hotel replied that early check-in was first come, first served, and stated in writing: "We currently have your request for a rollaway bed, in your current reservation... Our rollaway bed is the size of a twin bed." My wife called at 8 a.m. on July 4 and confirmed the rollaway was on our reservation. We drove from Connecticut and arrived around 11:30AM At check-in, the front desk said no rollaway beds were available and our room was not ready. When my wife explained that she had just confirmed it that morning, the same employee said she must have spoken to housekeeping and that housekeeping did not have authority to reserve one. So the hotel can confirm something, put it on your reservation, then later say it does not exist?!? Since the room was not ready, we were told we could check our bags and use the rooftop pool. Around 2 p.m., the 11th-floor pool attendant acted like we were trying to sneak in and called the front desk with our full reservation name before eventually allowing us in. The rooftop pool was NOT family-friendly! It felt like a college/frat pool party: packed with adults drinking, socializing, sitting on all sides of the pool edge, filling the pool, all chairs, all tables, and the bar. There was nowhere for my wife, me, or our three young daughters to sit or put our belongings. One kind guest offered us one beach chair. The pool was so crowded there was barely room for kids to swim safely! My wife felt unsafe going in or leaving our things unattended. The deck boards were so hot they burned our daughters' feet; we had to put a towel down for them to stand on. As we left, we saw a mom tell her two small daughters they could not swim because it was too crowded, and the youngest (approx 3YO) began crying. It was sad to watch, but I totally understood! Around 3 p.m. our room was ready. It was small, unclean, and disappointing. The bathroom sink was clogged on first use and would not drain. The closet had no extra blankets or sheets. There was only one roll of toilet paper and two towels despite being booked for a family. The beds were tiny. The toilet was dirty under the rim. Other issues: only two cups, only two waters, broken/missing ice bucket handle, no ice bucket bag, dirt/dust inside the bucket, and worst of all, the 8th-floor window was unlocked with three young children in the room!Completely unacceptable!!! If we had not already bought tickets for View Boston across the street, we would have left immediately! The next morning my wife checked out around 8:30 a.m. because we could not wait to leave. She overheard a male front desk employee with glasses loudly and rudely yelling at a guest on the phone, saying, "Well, you are not telling me what the problem is!" and "You did not call us and tell us there was an issue!" Very aggressive and VERY unprofessional! Then her bank card was charged $104.94 for taxes/fees we had already paid through Expedia, including a $70 "overnight guest parking fee" even though we were paid hotel guests using the hotel's guest parking from 11:30AM July 4 to 8:30AM July 5. She wanted to pay cash, but the employee said, "Sorry, I already hit the process button." This hotel was one failure after another: no early check-in, no rollaway despite being requested and confirmed, overcrowded alcohol-heavy rooftop pool, unsafe hot decking, poor staff interactions, dirty room, clogged sink, dirty toilet, missing basic supplies, dirty/broken ice bucket, unlocked 8th-floor window, and surprise charges. If you need a party pad and do not care about comfort, cleanliness, or families, maybe this place is for you. But if you are traveling with children, PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

It was hard to find accommodations that fit the budget I had for a recent work trip, and I was so relieved to find Longwood Inn. First, Longwood Inn is a Victorian mansion originally built in the early 1900's. It was later made into the inn, which means it has some eccentricities. For example, the bathroom for my room was actually across the hall yet still private. I had a separate key just for that bathroom. My room was small yet clean and comfortable. It was easy to relax each night, while watching TV or reading in bed. And while I passed a few other guests while coming and going, I never heard them when I was in my room. It was very quiet. There are several common areas, including the foyer, dining room and patios. The kitchen is free for guests to use. Check in and out was easy, and I was able to get early access to my room to store my luggage. Lastly, Longwood Inn is a picturesque two blocks from the T stop. I would definitely stay here again!

Dinner began with a thoughtfully prepared first course featuring artisan lettuce, toasted cashews, dry-aged Vermont goat cheese, dried blueberries, yam frites, and a maple vinaigrette that balanced the dish beautifully. The entrée consisted of beef tenderloin paired with a scallop and lobster tail brochette, accompanied by a spring medley of fresh peas, haricots verts, fava beans, asparagus, and snow peas alongside a honey-ricotta potato terrine.
