Sorry I did not take any pictures. I think the other on yelp pictures are pretty good. I didn't have any problems staying here. I left my TV on all night and day I think. I was in the room the whole time though. I stayed about a week in Nov. It's like a 5-10 min walk from the convention center. There is pastries and bagels and milk for breakfast and other items. There's a fridge you can use. There's like a rule to put your name on your stuff if you use the fridge. I didn't follow the rule. I just bought a beer and put it in there and drank it the next day. No big problem. I think my favorite part was that on the day I was checking out they let me leave my carry on bag and backpack and I could come back for it later. I would definitely stay here again. I got the chance to explore the backbay area of Boston. This places isn't a five star hotel but I think it's five star for the type of place that it is. Back to my favorite part, on the day when I checked out I was able to check out and go out for a huge walk and come back and pick up my stuff. read more

I had a very disappointing and unacceptable experience at this hostel. The management was not helpful, my concerns were not handled professionally, and the customer service was far below my expectations. When I arrived, the reservationist was 30 minutes late. I was waiting at the door, and when another guest arrived, I was able to enter the property, but the reservationist still had not arrived. After waiting for 30 minutes, I called him, and when he finally came, he spoke to me in a very rude tone and said that this delay was "normal." After sleeping in my room for about two hours, I realized that the room was extremely cold. My entire body was shaking because of the low temperature. I contacted the reception to ask for assistance, but instead of helping me, the staff spoke to me disrespectfully, insulted me, and made fun of my situation. I was polite throughout the conversation, but the receptionist responded with a rude attitude and laughed at my concerns. Because the situation became unacceptable, I called the police for assistance. After the police arrived, the hostel staff forced me to leave the property and refused to refund my money. They also behaved aggressively toward me and attempted to intimidate me. I have videos documenting the entire incident. I also contacted Booking.com regarding this issue, but they have not provided any effective solution so far. I strongly do not recommend this hostel. The property is not a safe or comfortable place to stay. The cleanliness was poor, the treatment of guests was disrespectful, and the management failed to handle a simple customer complaint professionally. Some other reviews mention that guests were not respectful toward the staff. However, when a room is so cold that a guest is physically shaking, is it reasonable to consider that temperature comfortable? Not everyone has the same tolerance for cold, and guests should not have to pay for a room without proper heating or a suitable solution. I was treated unfairly despite trying to communicate politely. The hostel told me that I had to pay a cancellation fee, they were the ones who removed me from the property. Until this time I didn't receive any money due to the problem that happen for me. The hotel on 14 didn't answer my phone and booking and it is not profesional. Solid three stars! Terrific location that makes many sites walkable. We had a charming third floor in the Adam's building (#315). Queen bed, access to quaint balcony, easy access to our parking space in Public Alley 903. Breakfast was a light but suitable offering ~ boiled eggs, fruit, pastries and coffee/tea. Our room included a bathroom (bath on the hall is also available.) The shower in 315 is TINY ~ tiny home or motor home tiny. Still, it got the job done. We slept well and had a quiet night despite the business of the alley (deliveries, trash pickup) going on behind us. Innkeepers were kind and helpful. If you need an affordable Boston stopover that provides a clean place to sleep and serve as home base for Boston adventures, the Oasis may fit the bill. Notes: narrow, curving stairs. No elevator. So let me say, the place itself would get more than one star. It's in a great location & the price was solid considering that. There is no elevator, which they tell you beforehand, and the stairs are very narrow. It is also very close to Fenway and the subway system. The reason I give this place 1 star is because of the owner. The one night I stayed there, I fell asleep with the TV on. At about 4 am, the owner came into my room, screamed at me about the TV being too loud, and took the remote from my room. All of this while I was fast asleep. Apparently the walls in this place are paper thin because he said the whole floor could hear my TV. I acknowledge falling asleep and leaving it on, that was my bad (even though I've done it at normal hotels and/or AirBNBs and never ever experienced this type of treatment. The owner threatened to kick me out of the place at 4 in the morning, again, while I was fast asleep. He could have just walked in, turned the TV off, and walked back out. But he didn't. The guy was a massive jerk (which, based on all the other bad reviews for this place, doesn't seem to be all that surprising). To make things worse, when I went to check out in the morning, I confronted one of the employees about it, and that employee essentially decided to blame me for everything based on what his boss presumably told him. I knew he was starting to lie because he started by saying the whole floor could hear my TV, then he said it was the whole building, and then he said it could even be heard outdoors. The employee then said they were going to call the police on me. I kept asking why they never took into consideration that I just fell asleep, and they said they didn't know that I wasn't dead. WHAT?!?!?! The employee said that the owner put me on the "Do Not Rent" list, and I responded that you couldn't pay me to come back to this place anyways, don't you even worry about that. Some of the other bad reviews have said that the owner made racist statements to them. He did not do that to me, but that doesn't mean he isn't racist. But that guy isn't a good person. I'm sure you can find somewhere similarly priced or in a nearby location without a major jerk for the owner. I wouldn't even suggest this place to my worst enemy, only because I wouldn't want the owner to get the money from it. read more

I've stayed at Oasis Guest House once in May and again now in September. Great location, within a short walking distance from my daughter's university. The hallway shared bathrooms are very clean. The website is very clear about there not being an elevator so pack accordingly as you might be on the 3rd floor. Not much ambient noise if your room is further away from the stairs. I enjoyed the continental breakfast of an assortment of pastries/breads, boiled eggs, vanilla yogurt, granola, coffee/OJ, apples/bananas. Room for improvement: thicker blankets? I understand that central air is needed in the summer but had a difficult time getting comfortable to fall asleep because of the thin blankets and constant a/c. Very nice and clean hotel with a friendlyand helpful staff. There are a few things to consider before registering: 1. There are multiple buildings, so if you have a group, make sure that you inform them so you'll all be able to stay in the same building. 2. Not all rooms have a bathroom,there are several rooms that share a bathroom. 3. There are very few parking spaces available, so reserve on when you reserve your room. They notified me one day prior to my visit that I wouldn't have a spot. They sent me to the Stanhope garage, and I had one of the worst experiences that I've ever had. See my review on Yelp. Stayed here for 2 nights as a birthday getaway. Had a great time! Room was very clean, comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There's a nice living room area to hang out or eat in, and a kitchen with a shared fridge that we used for our drinks. Walking distance to many things, including the MGM Music Hall where we saw a concert. We walked to restaurants, subway station etc. continental breakfast was very nice and appreciated. We had a parking spot which was great. My only recommendation would be to add more storage in the bathroom: a hook on the back of the door, shelves for all my "stuff". Owner is extremely rude and made racist comments towards my family. He was initially rude to my two family members who were trying to stay there (they are both international students). The argument got heated and he made racist comments, targeting the country where my family is from. Things escalated even further and the police were called. Feel free to read the other low star reviews here on Yelp and they will say similar things about the owner's attitude. When I look for accommodations for a vacation, I don't look for a place with a lot of bells and whistles; I look for the most economical option. Let's face it, I'm there to see the sites, not to chill in a hotel all day. Also, I'd rather use those extra vacation dollars to do fun things or stuff my face. I chose this B&B because of the favorable reviews and reasonable rates. As others have said this is not a 5-star place, but it is clean, convenient, has free wifi and a friendly staff. The rooms are tiny, I won't lie (and they don't hide that fact either), but like I said I'm only looking for a place sleep and store my stuff. Guests receive a free breakfast daily - bagels, cereal, rolls, juice, coffee, etc. They also have an internet terminal in the main area and allow you to print up to 5 pages free daily, additional pages are quite reasonable too. The location was perfect; a reasonable walk to Copley Square, the Prudential Center and the public library. It's also a short walk from the Hynes Green Line T stop making it really convenient to get around Boston and Cambridge. Getting to and from the airport was pretty easy too. The neighborhood is fine, lots of Berklee students milling about. Maybe it's because I'm a city dweller, but as a woman traveling alone I felt very comfortable coming and going from here at all hours during my stay. Sure this place could stand to be spruced up a bit, but that likely means it will become a less economical option for many. If you're not into frills and fancy decor this place should suit you just fine. read more

Before I checked into the Oasis Guest House, I checked the online reviews, and my thought was "Wow, they're really all over the place." But after having stayed there, I can see how your experience and opinions can vary so much. If you drove there, you have to deal with the awkwardness of getting to the parking alley in the back, and if you don't know initially that you have to park there, you have to deal with probably being temporarily in a residential permit area and hoping no one notices. Plus you have to pay for the parking. But on the other hand, if you are using mass transit to/from and getting around, the location is quite convenient. The room you get may make a difference. Rooms on the first floor are, I suspect, slightly larger, but noisier, and if you have a room near the street you can hear everybody outside as they walk by. I suspect upstairs is a bit quieter and cozier. Time of year may matter. I suspect it's very cozy in the cooler months, based on the large radiator in my room. In warmer weather, I wonder if the small central air vents (at least in my room) would cool a room sufficiently. My room was okay, maybe not as cool as I would have liked. The bathroom was fine. As for food, you get a nice continental breakfast which is well maintained. It's fine for a good morning start. If you want more, there's places nearby. You'll have to make your own decision as to whether you feel you got your money's worth. For me, it was ok. read more

This is a great option for frugal travelers. It's a cozy bed and breakfast conveniently located just off the Hynes T stop. The place is cheap because some of the rooms are tiny and have shared baths. For the double bed/shared bath option, the room extended a couple of inches beyond the bed and there was just enough room for two suitcases. Shared baths are on every floor and were clean. The first floor of the buildings have a kitchen and living area where you can relax and use a computer with Internet access. In the mornings, they offer continental breakfast. The place was pretty quiet with most travelers being older couples who just used the place to sleep. It might be louder outside during the school year with its proximity to Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory. Also, the east side of Mass Ave (the side the T stop is on) was filled with shady characters late at night so I'd advise crossing the street and walking on the other side to get to the B&B. read more

This is a nice, quaint brownstone B & B just off Madison Avenue in the Back Bay. I've stayed there twice while attending conventions at Hynes Convention Center, and plan to stay there next year again. What really sets this place apart is the excellent staff. Mike and Victor et al are very nice, helpful, and always willing to go out of their way to make sure you are at home, not only at the Oasis but in Boston in general. They have a variety of choices in terms of room size and private/shared bath. Also, it is a nice respite from the cookie-cutter business travel hotels that I am usually subjected to. Went from here to the Radisson in Manhattan which charged twice as much and I still would have preferred to be staying at the Oasis. read more

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was VERY clean and had some nice amenities. The complimentary breakfast was simple, but had some good options. The bed was very comfortable and the room was just the right size for two people. My wife is pregnant, and the desk staff helped carry our bags to our room. Someone asked me the other day for a cheap but nice place to stay here in town. When it suddenly came to me Oasis Guest House. When I started looking for a job in Boston I didn't have much of a choice of where to stay as I had no friends in the area and being relatively poor I couldn't afford to stay at the Hyatt Regency. So I ended up coming here to the Oasis Guest House. And I must say I love this place! The people here are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are neat and clean, and there are fresh towels. I stayed in a single room, with a shared bath down the hall. It wasn't glamorous, but it was quaint and comfortable and quiet. It's in an unassuming neighborhood. Honestly the first time I saw it I thought it was someones house! Continental Breakfast in the morning, free wi-fi you couldn't ask for more. I stayed this past week at Oasis as part of my Winter Classic vacation for the big hockey game. Considering I spent too much on a ticket, I didn't want to do the same for lodging, and I was very pleased with what Oasis offered considering the price. The prices vary by season, and the winter price was much lower than other hotels who probably jacked up their prices thanks to New Years Eve and having a major sporting event. I was skeptical of just how central the B&B was to everything, but after a walk around the neighborhood, walk to Fenway and the T stop, it's in a great location. If you're not sure if you should either take the T or a cab to get to the B&B, take the subway. It's not sketchy, and it's like $30 cheaper. The walk is really short -- just head down the alley between Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts before you make another turn. I stayed in a single room with a single bed and used the shared bath. Yes, the room is small, but very manageable for one person who won't be in your room for most of the day. The point of vacation is to see the city, right? Not to see four walls. While I was in the room, I loved the free WiFi. I never had a problem with the shared bath. Didn't have to wait for anyone, everything was clean. Here's a bit of advice, though. If you're given the option of either selecting a room beside the stairway or near the back hallway, never choose the stairway room. The walls are somewhat thin and I could hear the office staff talk to people downstairs, and each time someone walked up the steps, it was quite loud as your bed is right against the wall. It made it somewhat hard to get to sleep, but I would chalk up the heavy winds to waking me up. The breakfast was standard continental breakfast. Choice of English muffin, bagels, wheat bread, danish, peanut butter, jam, cereal, bananas, apples, oatmeal, etc. I took advantage of it and loaded up to start off my day. read more

Be aware that what you're paying for at the Oasis Guest House is location. Boston is an expensive town. After tax and foreign exchange we paid nearly $300 CDN a night. That may seem like a lot, but we would have paid exactly the same with a last minute Hotwire deal, but then I'd probably have had to pay extra for wifi. I'd rather stay in a plain, dated room with free wifi in a great location than in a modern hotel in a tourist district. The room was fine. Breakfast was barely adequate but fine if you're not picky. The staff were good. If they had just done one small thing extra (like have milk available for tea in the evening or decent fruit for breakfast) I would happily have given them five stars. As it was, Oasis was exactly what they needed to be and no more. I will very happily book with them again. read more

This guest house is misrepresented on its website, as well as Travelocity. I chose a room with a queen bed and private bath (extra $ for both), and the room was advertised as "having air conditioning". The reality is the bed fits pretty much wall to wall, the bathroom is barely large enough to maneuver in and the AC is not controlled by you; the owners of their guest house have "the reigns" and it's obvious they are trying to save money. Even with it being mid September (which is post summer), it was very hot and stuffy in the room. I complained to the person at the front desk (I assume he was an owner) and he handed me a fan and told me "good luck". He also suggested I open a window at night. If I were deaf, this might be a possible solution (the noise/traffic is all night long right behind the head board of the bed). I could go on and on about why I would never recommend this guest house, but I will finish with this......when I checked out, the person at the front desk (someone other than the original person) basically reprimanded me for using Travelocity, stating "it's just a cheap way of booking that takes money away from us". So if u do decide to use this guest house, just know that it is about as "no frills" as u can get. And as for the parking they offer? It's a joke. Don't waste your time; use a local garage. Your car is unsafe at this place In response to the owners comments on my review, maybe the word "reprimand" is not correct. Wish I could place 0 stars. I am not a person who has ever wrote a public negative review. Yet I feel so strongly I have now wrote one on two different places. This place is horrible. The rooms are not worth the price. But, that's really secondary. The management is very rude. I don't know the name of the guy in front desk, he looks like George Carlin, he is very rude. In their reply back from on google review they said I had an "attitude from the start." What is interesting is that's what I thought about him from the start. They said my dad and I were loud and annoyed other guests. Never once did they or other guest say that to us and if they had we would have apologized and been considerate. Going back to the George Carlin look alike at the front desk he just comes across as the stereotypical east coast jerk. He was very impatient with us when we got there. I did love my stay in Boston, no thanks to this place. In the future if the choices were stay at this place again or never go back to Boston I would 100 percent choose never to go back to Boston. read more

The place is clean, charming, nice location, and they have a great little breakfast in the morning. We found the front desk personnel to be very patronizing, an older gentleman in particular. We're not sure if it's because we were two young women staying there or if it is just his disposition. It was very off putting. We booked this hotel last minute, when we come back to Boston we will probably stay somewhere else. As a business owner myself, I feel that the people I hire matter, they represent my business and our values. I didn't check yelp before booking but I just did and other reviews said "rude front desk personnel." If I owned this Bed and Breakfast I would look into this ASAP. read more

OK - seemed like a lovely B&B until ..........booked through Hotels.com (live person) and was taking the train from NY to Boston. Due to the power outage issues in New Haven the train arrived 3 hours late and, past the 11pm time the Oasis closes. Received a call from 617 area code but no vm. Called back and the cocky owner said: are you coming ??? And, don't you read your confirmation....you should know the time we close !!" Hugh ? He did provide details on how to get in through the locked box in front to obtain my key (got in at 2am). He did call me back concerned and switched my room from a 3rd floor walk-up to the first floor in the main bldg - score ! When I arrived, quiet, clean but inn kind of dingy. Morning: other owner not very friendly. The clock in my room was not correct (20 minutes behind which caused me to be late for an important business meeting). Had a quick continental breakfast. Asked to get a cab for me......cab late / no show. Went to meetings.......came back to room to relax, prepared for my departure to Amtrak. Got home to NY before 11 - unpacked and realized I had left a designer women's top at the INN. Called Mr. Nasty (said nothing had been turned in as of yet, cannot disturb the people in "my room" and will check at 11am the next day when they check out. He said if I don't get a call then they did not find it" . I called the next am and his attitude: you again ? Cannot check the room until they leave. I gave him a full description of the jacket which went through deft ears. Called at noon and very non nonchalantly he said, jacket not there. I don't know what happened to my property and over the years I have left things (as we all do) and immediately they get returned. This is in REAL HOTELS. I would be careful with this place as clothing just does not evaporate in thin air. This place gets an odd, mixed bag of people and the owners of a" certain age" seem burned-out and disinterested. There are some very nice people running this establishment and I wish I could recommend it, but I wouldn't stay here again. People say that it's cheap, but it's only a few dollars less than a nice hotel like the Omni and you get much less. My wife and I walked into the room which was comprised of the queen size bed which was about 2 feet away from all the walls, a TV mounted on the wall and a dresser. We also had a private bathroom which was tiny. I could barely fit myself in the shower. The bed was not comfortable and felt like it was 15 years old. The heat did not work properly so sometimes we were hot, sometimes we we cold and every once in a while the temperature would be good. The second night we stayed there we smelled someone smoking some weed. Not the hotel managements fault at all, in fact they were pretty unhappy about it when I told them the next morning, but certainly it's something to be aware of. They let the suspected guest know and it wasn't an issue after that. The included breakfast was good but there weren't really enough seats in the area. There are basically only 4 seats to sit in. It was only an issue once for us. Anyway, this place isn't terrible and it's location is good but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to someone else. Ugh! We had the misfortune of staying in this "Motel 6" which is masquerading as an inn. Unlike Motel 6, $200 a night on a weekday is no bargain. I'll start by saying that the entire place smells and has the feel of an elderly assisted living home. Our room was tiny and had frayed towels. The room didn't have a fridge and the service was mediocre. We were kept awake half the night by people throwing trash in the garbage receptacles right outside our window, and then again at 5:00 am when the garbage trucks rolled in to empty them. The morning breakfast was dismal as well. After staying here just one night, we found much better value with some neighborhood AirBnB's the following nights. read more

Each day, millions of gallons of water are wasted by hotels, reads the sign on the bathroom mirror. I still think it would be acceptable for the Oasis to run their drinking glasses through a washer, at least to remove lipstick and juice chunks. The stinky shower and noisy plastic mattress covers I think account for the rest of the discount pricing. If you can ignore that though, the place looks as good on paper as your Ex probably did - it has wifi and TV and an ok breakfast till 11, and is on a cute dormitory lined street, but you may want to cbeck it out before making any kind of long term plans. read more

Worst experience ever!! My niece was supposed to meet her friend in this B&B, so I got made 1 reservation and plan to add more rooms for 4 more people(my 80-year-old parents and my 10-year daughter). The flight got delayed and arrived at midnight. Called the 800 number to confirm if it was still open for check-in. The answer was yes. I also asked on the phone to see if it was possible to get another room or an upgrade, but the man on the phone hang up on me. The taxi took us there but the man was mad when he saw all of us. I said since I already booked one room, I would leave my niece here so that she could meet her friend there the second day. The man said he didn't want any of us staying there. Be aware that if you pay for a standard/economy room the bathroom is SHARED by the floor. For an unplanned last minute stay this place did the job, however the small room was extremely hot, it was almost unbearable. A mediocre breakfast was served including expired yogurt. As I was entering the shared bathroom, (very clean) a male attendant stopped me from shutting it so he could "quickly put an extra hand towel in here[bathroom]." It was rude and a little invasive. The location was ideal, everything was in walking distance. However I will never stay here again, bad first impression. Hopefully with more attention paid to little detail this guest house could improve. read more
