I'm just happy to have gotten to stay here. C booked it for our first night in Boston. I had no idea what to expect, or where in the world we were staying, but was pleasantly surprised by the digs when we got there. We do some unique traveling. Mainly in the way that we actually take trips. We leave town with only the first night stay booked and wing it from there. We do this for spontaneity, to always keep things fresh and new, and to avoid losing money in some cases because of flight delays or changed plans. This last trip was a nine day haul around the Northeast Coast. This one was great and I have lots to share, so buckle up! ;) Night one: Excellent check in. Easy valet experience as you can just leave your vehicle on the curb and they come get it later at some point. Martha Stewart's flunky designed the place, but don't hold that against them. It's quite comfy and cozy. I loved the room accommodations. The glass box overlooking the busy Cambridge City street is really cool. The windows even open so that you can get some fresh air in the room or even purge some "compromised" room air out if needed. I wanted to sleep with the window open but the city was too loud for me to endure while sleeping. Shower is nice but all of the bars are deceiving. I thought that we may have a multiple shower head experience, it was only a dual head junt.... All of the bars are just to let the things slide around. It's nice though. It's a bit quirky with only one ice machine in the basement and none on each floor. But down in the basement is a plethora of oddities and things to look at. There is a great conference room that you can rent and shit yourself in if you want. They have a good coffee maker down there too. No free breakfast. That's ok though. Come have a stay. You won't be left disappointed I believe. Staff were super courteous to us. We left something in the car after we valet, and they went and retrieved it for us with no gripes at all. The next day I emailed about early check-in and a rollaway bed. The hotel replied that early check-in was first come, first served, and stated in writing: "We currently have your request for a rollaway bed, in your current reservation... Our rollaway bed is the size of a twin bed." My wife called at 8 a.m. on July 4 and confirmed the rollaway was on our reservation. We drove from Connecticut and arrived around 11:30AM At check-in, the front desk said no rollaway beds were available and our room was not ready. When my wife explained that she had just confirmed it that morning, the same employee said she must have spoken to housekeeping and that housekeeping did not have authority to reserve one. So the hotel can confirm something, put it on your reservation, then later say it does not exist?!? Since the room was not ready, we were told we could check our bags and use the rooftop pool. Around 2 p.m., the 11th-floor pool attendant acted like we were trying to sneak in and called the front desk with our full reservation name before eventually allowing us in. The rooftop pool was NOT family-friendly! It felt like a college/frat pool party: packed with adults drinking, socializing, sitting on all sides of the pool edge, filling the pool, all chairs, all tables, and the bar. There was nowhere for my wife, me, or our three young daughters to sit or put our belongings. One kind guest offered us one beach chair. The pool was so crowded there was barely room for kids to swim safely! My wife felt unsafe going in or leaving our things unattended. The deck boards were so hot they burned our daughters' feet; we had to put a towel down for them to stand on. As we left, we saw a mom tell her two small daughters they could not swim because it was too crowded, and the youngest (approx 3YO) began crying. It was sad to watch, but I totally understood! Around 3 p.m. our room was ready. It was small, unclean, and disappointing. The bathroom sink was clogged on first use and would not drain. The closet had no extra blankets or sheets. There was only one roll of toilet paper and two towels despite being booked for a family. The beds were tiny. The toilet was dirty under the rim. Other issues: only two cups, only two waters, broken/missing ice bucket handle, no ice bucket bag, dirt/dust inside the bucket, and worst of all, the 8th-floor window was unlocked with three young children in the room!Completely unacceptable!!! If we had not already bought tickets for View Boston across the street, we would have left immediately! The next morning my wife checked out around 8:30 a.m. because we could not wait to leave. She overheard a male front desk employee with glasses loudly and rudely yelling at a guest on the phone, saying, "Well, you are not telling me what the problem is!" and "You did not call us and tell us there was an issue!" Very aggressive and VERY unprofessional! Then her bank card was charged $104.94 for taxes/fees we had already paid through Expedia, including a $70 "overnight guest parking fee" even though we were paid hotel guests using the hotel's guest parking from 11:30AM July 4 to 8:30AM July 5. She wanted to pay cash, but the employee said, "Sorry, I already hit the process button." This hotel was one failure after another: no early check-in, no rollaway despite being requested and confirmed, overcrowded alcohol-heavy rooftop pool, unsafe hot decking, poor staff interactions, dirty room, clogged sink, dirty toilet, missing basic supplies, dirty/broken ice bucket, unlocked 8th-floor window, and surprise charges. If you need a party pad and do not care about comfort, cleanliness, or families, maybe this place is for you. But if you are traveling with children, PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Somewhere I'd read I had to be there to use the card I'd booked with so it was nice that I didn't. The concierge told me I didn't need to pay for parking in the hotel lot because it being a quiet weekend in August, there was free Saturday night/Sunday street parking right on the same block. So that was unexpected and helpful. It's also nice to be able to park temporarily in front of the hotel while we checked in And unloaded our luggage. We had two rooms right next to each other on the sixth floor. One room was comfortable and cool but the other AC was not as good (I felt quite warm) and so I asked for 2 fans. I did have to carry them up myself but it made for good sleep. The king beds were quite comfortable and I loved the blue and white quilts! The red velvet couches were gorgeous. The secondary blanket for the pull out couch, was not of the same quality. Nor were the decorative bed pillows. But in all it was the quaintest hotel room ever! More like a historic bed & breakfast. Ask ahead if you need something, extra like pillows or towels because the room staff doesn't stay past 8 (?) PM. I would've liked if there were four bathrobes hanging in the closet instead of one since they were four guests. I didn't ask for more-maybe I should have. I did ask for and get more towels, it seemed a little bit silly, for their not have been enough left so that everyone had their own. But it was an easy fix. We didn't use the coffee maker in the room or the microwave. We used the refrigerator and it was nice to have. We must have gotten upgraded (!) because these things were not listed as available. (I booked on an outside site.) Breakfast was good- lots of hot bacon scrambled eggs, and potatoes, (add your own salt, pepper, hot sauce... plus many extra things like brioche bread to toast, fruit, oats and yoghurt. I particularly liked the little cranberry scones. The coffee was very good. And tea was available to make. Note they left drink drinks out past 10 AM (when breakfast is officially over). I appreciated this because it's nice to be able to get a 2nd cup of tea and or coffee. Seating was casual in the lobby or at some tables which were pretty full. I saw some people did go outside through a side door, to the black sheep restaurant seating but there's no sign for it. I didn't know you could until later I noticed people out there when I was leaving. Some of my group had great oysters and scallops across the street. It was a happy hour. One thing I liked about the location was that even though it's not in the busiest part of Boston, there were nice restaurants within walking distance and even a lounge/restaurant within the hotel. All in all, a cute, relaxing, quiet and comfortable hotel that I would stay at again.

The entire staff here is friendly and accommodating. We spoke with the concierge about a restaurant we were going to, she gave excellent recommendations. The people at the door, greeting us, were so happy and friendly. We did take the house car out one night to get to a dinner reservation. We weren't going to use the car at first, because this hotel is situated in a very great location and everywhere we were going was within a 15 min walk, but our first day was filled with rain, so house car it was. Our first night, we got room service and kind of regretted not making a reservation at the restaurant downstairs because if the room service was this excellent, I can't imagine how delicious it was dining in the place itself. The person taking care of us was also super friendly and nice. Breakfast at the restaurant (which we did twice) was very good, with the service being top notch. Our room itself was absolutely gorgeous, with extremely comfortable furniture and a nice comfy bed. I loved how you could control the temperature with no limitations. The bathroom was a good size and the water pressure was so good. The rest of the hotel was well appointed, with lovely touches, like ice tea available (and cookies on Sunday game days.) The elevator is a bit on the smaller end, but the hotel isn't huge so we only rode with someone else once in our entire stay. Kevin "Bakes" was the bartender on our first night and instantly made us feel welcome. We hit a rough patch on her actual birthday when we had a horrible dinner experience at a restaurant nearby, but the hotel staff completely turned our evening around. Shenae and Lehandra were working the bar that night and were absolute sweethearts, making sure my wife felt taken care of and completely shifting the mood. It's rare to find a hotel where the staff genuinely cares this much. It was a 5-star experience from start to finish, and whenever we make it back to Boston, there's no question where we'll be staying.

These views come from inside and outside the building. It's located in Boston, lots of pride here for the baseball team, it's the "official home," of the Boston Red Sox . As you walk and down the Ave of Commonwealth, the traffic is terrible. Make sure and watch and experience the area as a pedestrian. When you check into the hotel the parking is all valet. Remember this is a luxurious place and the parking is pricey about $75 a night . You can check in around four p.m. too! The experience is absolutely flawless. They have all that you need to have a great evening . We are on vacation and they have in room dining . All was absolutely perfect on our trip. Thank you to the staff for making the evening special.
