THIS IS SO LONG OVERDUE…read more I've been going to him since I had teeth. I was really bad about my teeth as a kid so as you can imagine I always went in for a teeth cleaning. But even as an itty bitty child, I remember his chinatown location. Always very clean with a fish tank out in the waiting area. Stocked with magazines and a door that buzzed anytime someone walked in. I never understood why people were so scared of going to the dentist when I had such a great one who always makes sure I'm okay. In highschool I had to get a root canal on my front teeth but any work that he's done on me was with my comfort and well-being in mind. We're currently working on my implant for my front teeth and the oral surgeon could not compliment his work enough! My gums look great and I will update this with a before and after picture as soon as its all finished. He is such a considerate person and I would not go to any other dentist! I cannot recommend him enough because he does try to work with you and really get to know his patients!

Dr. Winston Yee is located in "Hesperian Dental" in a olde commercial strip mall nearby Autozone…read more it's not advisable to park in front of his office as cars go 2 ways in a narrow roadway. better to park at the side of mall where there isn't as much traffic. i came here for a 2nd opinion on a dental procedure my present dentist is proposing. a year ago, she "saw" possible" gum disease underneath my teeth in a x-ray. she recommended removing same tooth to cure the gum. she was concern the germ would migrate to other parts of body with "life threatening consequences". i gave my consent. to the tooth removal and subsequent gum treatment though i had my doubts. the most recent x-ray she "saw" decay underneath a crown. she also saw images of decay on the base of an nearby teeth. in both cases she expressed doubt whether she could "save" my teeth. with minimum effort, she remedied my decayed tooth. as for the decay underneath the crown. she was uncertain whether she could replace the bridge once the "disease/decay" was remedied. she wanted me to commit to an implant or denture before proceeding.work in the event she couldn't replace the bridge. this implied implants will be recommended on the adjacent teeth in the future. implants are $4000 to $5000 each. i was confused. the dentist's "wishy washy" attidude may not have been sincere. it wasn't inability at play, it seem to be a ruse. as my wife had a "bad" experience with her implant experience with this same dental office, i decided to seek a 2nd opinion. Dr. Yee found there was no decay under the teeth. the decay was under an adjacent teeth. Dr. Yee stated he would have no problems building a new bridge. his advice was clear and precise. in the event, my crowns needed to be replaced, the 3 crowns and bridge would be under $3000. under my other dentist, each implant will be $4000. each. once implants are in. one can't switch to another kind of teeth maintenance. they all had to be implants in the future. there's also routine cleaning that wasn't mentioned. the kicker: my former dentist is in a Kaiser plan. Dr. Yee doesn't take Kaiser. even with no insurance, my costs here will be substantially lower than at my former dentist place. beware of implant specialists. they don't do regular dental work, they prefer pulling teeth and doing implants only. i decided to switch dentists while i was still in Dr. Yee's office. he happened to know my lst dentist in chinatown who was also an elementary school classmate.

I've struggled to find a office in the Castro Valley area that I liked for the past years and was finally recommended this place. Dr. K knew this and so he took extra care to make sure I was as comfortable as possible; we talked about the procedure and he was communicative and checked in with me a lot. He told me several stories of his time in Vermont to try and relax+distract me. I have never had such an attentive doctor. As far as super unpleasant dental procedures go, this one was as bearable as possible. I am super grateful for his willingness to put in the extra work to make dental procedures much less scary. In follow-up fillings and similar procedures, he has handed me a mirror so I could have the option to see what was going on, if I wanted, and also always tried to do it without anesthetic shots when possible. In terms of dental hygienist, Mai is great. I like that she is a pleasant conversationalist but also very straight to the point. She lets me pick what toothbrush color I want :)

Our friend visiting from out of state had a bad toothache and we were worried it was an infection…read more Upon the recommendation of our friend Echo, one of the staff here, we called Dr Lai's office and the receptionist Shirley got us in for an emergency check at 8:30am the very next morning! When we came the next morning, Shirley was super nice and helpful and got our paperwork all taken care of. Then Dr Lai did a checkup and a round of x-rays. He confirmed it was an abscess tooth and offered to drain it to relieve the pain. Then he gave us an antibiotic prescription to have the infection treated asap and gave a referral to a specialist nearby to do a root canal. He also sent a thorough email diagnosis with the X-rays to my friend's email and a copy to his own dentist. So professional and thorough! And since my friend's insurance wasn't going to cover this and we had to pay ourselves, they gave us a special discount which was very reasonable for all the work Dr Lai did! We loved this whole experience and I'm even switching my dentist to Dr Lai now!

On 12/13/25, we came in for a routine cleaning at 8:00 AM. The quality of care was PHENOMENAL! Krystal, Dr. Tran and the entire staff were AMAZING--very attentive, super friendly, and genuinely kind. Everyone was honest and straightforward, which we truly appreciated. The office was exceptionally clean and equipped with up-to-date technology. X-rays were quick and easy, and scheduling an appointment was seamless. Their communication is excellent, including helpful text reminders before appointments. There is also plenty of parking available, and the location is very convenient. I will definitely be returning for all future dental cleanings and work.
