I chose this office after reading the impressive professional profiles of the doctors. The physicians are Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with notable achievements. Located at 901 Campus Drive in Daly City, a multi-tenant medical office building, there is plenty of free onsite parking for visitors. As you enter the office at Suite 303, you are greeted by a contemporary waiting room with comfortable seating and television, free wifi, and minimal clutter to help lower patient anxiety. The front desk staff are also amiable. On the day of V's oral surgery consultation, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, we met with Dr. Sy in a clean, professional space outfitted with digital display screens used to review scans, treatment plans, and imaging with patients. Dr. Sy provided us with a couple of informational sheets and explained to us the surgical procedure for the removal of V's complete boney impaction of his wisdom teeth. Deep sedation was recommended, which V was opting for. I was in tears, apprehensive of the deep sedation and had A LOT of questions (so many that the doctor asked if I worked in the medical field). Dr. Sy listened to my concerns and patiently answered all of my inquiries in detail, calming my fears and giving me a sense of relief. Following the consultation, we met with the friendly Office Assistant to go over the Treatment Plan Estimate. Surgery was scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, February 26, 2025. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the procedure took to complete and was even more amazed that V was wide awake and coherent when I was brought back to the room where he was. He commented that he felt like he just woke up from a nap. Wow, are all surgical tooth extractions this easy peasy for patients?? Dental Assistant Adrian was extremely polite and wheelchaired V to the outdoor front entrance where I drove my car to pick him up. We were sent home with clear instructions and medicine times. Recovery was smooth, fast and easy, and the post-op check-up on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 3:15 PM determined that all was good. Dr. Sy and his team turned a scary medical day into a surprisingly stress-free experience. V and I were so grateful for their care. I highly recommend this office and if faced with the need for oral surgery, myself, will not think twice to return to SF BAY ORAL SURGERY AND DENTAL IMPLANTS to be treated by Dr. Sy.

It was all very well organized and my sons said the surgery went well. They both said it went very fast but that's because they were sedated. Recovery went well and sons followed all protocols. I mainly went to…read morehim because my Dentist refered him and a friend who works with dentures/implants said he rated good. Long story short, my front tooth was failing from an injury almost 30 years. After getting assessed in an initial consult, getting second opinions, etc. I went with Dr. MacDonald and had the first part done almost 6 months after the initial consult, I chose that because of work obligations and my wife was getting a graduate degreee and I wanted to look ok in the pictures. I just had part 1) tooth removal in June, and his staff seemed to do a good job. I was put out and the process wasn't too painful, I filled prescriptions of antibiotics and painkillers that day. I coordinated with my dentist to get a temporary piece (or stayplate) a couple days after the intial procedure. So far good. My dental insurance from work covers a little bit of the expenses but the majority of dental insurances don't really cover it, they mainly do preventative care (cleanings and fillings). I had already put some into my FSA/HSA, unfortunately the timing of when I scheduled was after open-enrollment so I wish I had set aside more funds. Like I said, so far so good, and it's my front tooth so it'd be nice if it looked and felt good.

Obviously, I would need someone to drive me home. I just moved to the bay, and didn't know anyone yet, so I asked if I could take an Uber. One of the assistants said it shouldn't be a problem and she would confirm w the dentist and follow up w me. Never happened. The front desk receptionist took the invoice I signed and when I asked for a copy, she said she would email to me. Never happened. Now....weeks later I finally confirm an appointment w them. Why now? Because I asked a family member to fly in from SoCal, perform as my designated driver and care for me afterwards. I made this very clear when I made the appointment. The receptionist confirmed the appointment with me and provided me with both aftercare instructions, as well as the prep. The morning of, I arrived - ready. Immediately I was told, "Oh. It looks like you will just be getting your wisdom tooth pulled today. The doctor wants to give you more X-rays to determine if we need to bring a surgeon in." Um, what?? I asked her why I was never told this, and explained to her that my family member flew in, because I was supposed to get everything I needed done in one appointment. In fact, when I booked the appointment, I mentioned both procedures I was supposed to get, and it was confirmed! Not to mention the fact that I requested 3 days of PTO from work. Because wtf would I need someone to drive me home for a wisdom tooth?! I've had a wisdom tooth pulled before and didn't need sedation and drove myself home! I requested sedation this time because I was getting my freaking gums cut open for an implant! Totally different level!! I was offered no apology, no explanation. I was pissed! 1) after all the xrays on my initial visit, consultation, that wasn't enough to determine next steps?, 2) When I booked the appointment, I wasn't told this ahead of time?, 3) Another set of X-rays and additional visit meant more money out of my pocket, 4) a clear disregard of my time, my family members time. So I sat down in the waiting room. My appointment was at 9. At this point it's 9:10. And I continued to sit. And as I continued to sit, I had a lot of time to think about everything and all it did was piss me off further. Then I looked at my watch...9:35. So I stood up and walked out. I took an uber to where my family was purchasing food I would need, like soups, tea, etc....since we both thought I was getting surgery. At this point it's 9:50 and I'm angry, explaining what happened. Finally at 9:55, the office starts calling me. Back to back to back to back. And each time I pressed ignore. Then my family said: "Maybe this is the universe protecting you. Do you really want to be sedated by a group of unprofessional, incompetent people?" And she was completely right. No, I do not! Also, Funny enough, my insurance did not cover 45.00 from my initial visit. And these people made sure to send me, via snail mail, at least 15 bills in the mail. In fact, in one week, I received 8! So y'all sure don't forget when you want your money! But you forget your common sense when it's time to tell patients there's been a change in plans, or if they are no longer receiving surgery and therefore, do not need a designated driver. Because that would be too much like right. Right? Done with this place and they won't ever see me again. However, I found the surgeon to be very dismissive - they didn't greet me, they interrupted me every time I tried to speak or pose a question and they in general seemed to be in a hurry. The surgeon also tried to upsell me on a post surgery procedure that I did not need (I would later learn). Overall, I felt very uncomfortable with their bedside manner. Last, the office forgot to give me my X-ray that I had taken during my visit only to mail it to me several weeks later without paying for the postage. I ended up having to do so when my mailman made the delivery to my home. It was not a pleasant experience. Overall, I'm glad that I trusted my gut and did not pursue getting my wisdom teeth removal here after my experience. I went to another nearby surgeon and had a great experience and paid much less as well. I would encourage others, if they can, to seek a second opinion and then make your decision from there. Dr. Krey is overall one of the best doctors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. During my recent procedure, he kept me updated each step of the way which helped to keep me calm and feel that he did not just see me as "molar number 3". So rare to find a doctor that addresses not just the issue, but also the human! Note that this office has staff with these same qualities! After 27 years, my root canal tooth decided to give up. Upon seeing I was nervous, the very kind assistant Miya assured me and said, "It's okay, sometimes we outlive our teeth." What a beautiful way to phrase it!
