Beautiful store at Stanford Shopping Center ! Lovely display and dressing rooms ! I've never heard of this brand but was attracted by a sign outside the store: 'Buy one get one free' ( sale items). So I went in and was going to give this brand a try. I was told that items with a yellow plastic ring around the hanger neck were a part of the BOGO deal. I tried on items in the dressing room which was busy. I chose a few items. Was surprised since I'm a petite size. When I get to the register I find out that many of the items were not on sale though marked as such. I found it very confusing. But I liked the items I chose ; eliminated two items reluctantly due to the no sale status of those items. But I also still kept a silk blouse for full price ( reluctantly) Later while at home I go online to view the online store. (Especially since I didn't know of this brand before) Turns out that several of the items I purchased for full price were on sale online. Confusing. The clothing is beautiful and sustainable and made in SF! Those two things are worth paying more for . However shopping at Amour Vert is confusing and felt unpredictable. If you like poor customer service for a high price point, this is the store for you. I also experienced the same BAD attitudes from the sales associates here - just scroll through any of the other reviews. Eye rolls and deep sighs are given out for any request. When you are paying $50 for a t-shirt and $200 for a pair of jeans, you expect the shopping experience to match. Not only are the sales associates' attitudes poor, they have made mistakes every time I have visited. Once they even rang me up for an item and overcharged me by $10 - no apology whatsoever. I have called customer service to voice my concerns, but looking at these other reviews - I'm not sure they are doing anything to change the situation. I don't think this store is going to survive long - given the collective 1 star reviews. I strongly recommend you take your hard earned money elsewhere. Unhelpful, dismissive service. I saw a shirt in the window on. Sunday evening but didn't go in bc they were closing up. I came back Monday to discover the store is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Finally come back on a Thursday to find they just sold the last of the shirt that I wanted the day before. I asked how long it would take to order online and was told 7-10 business days. Mind you I could have ordered a few days prior but was just waiting to come back when this store is actually open (note they keep shorter hours than the rest of the mall). I asked if there was expedited shipping and whether the shipping fee could be waived if I ordered from the sales person in the store, and the unhelpful, dismissive sales person just brushed me off. Most businesses offer free shipping if the in-store sales People order something online from you. And since this store is so self-important that it is almost NEVER open, and I came back three times within a five day span to try to actually shop their merchandise, you'd think the least they could do is offer to waive the expedited shipping fee. Absurd. Not even going to order this shirt online. Not giving a cent to this company. read more

At first, when I arrived here, it was due to the unsolicited catalog they sent me. I figured I would check it out. From the behavior of the sales girls (who I would assume work on minimum wage or so) thought that it was a co-op situation as they kept telling how they wear these clothes. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm not sure the need for them to be snarky at full price paying ($$$ price point) customers. Clothing is not exactly high quality or colorful as well. Especially when Anthropologie is right beside them. As for being environmentally responsible claims, it's not the only brand so I would skip this one. I agree with another reviewer here about the customer service. They need to hire or train customer service people. But I highly doubt that'll happen as their corporate doesn't seem to care as well. Five stars for website/products, one star for in-store experience = three star average. I've loved this brand, the ethos, everything from several orders I've placed, and was excited to visit the store @ Stanford Shopping Center. I've sung AV's' praises to friends amazed by the classic design + impossible softness of some of the shirts I've ordered. Unfortunately, the staff couldn't be bothered to say hello or engage in any way (admittedly, one was helping a customer at the register, but the other looked to be sorting paperwork behind the same counter). I had really hoped to try on/buy some Veja sneakers + another Mikel top I'd like to wear on an upcoming adventure abroad, but I couldn't get any help, put the sample shoe back, and walked out frankly feeling a bit dejected. My husband noticed that as I left, the door didn't fully close, yet the paper-sorting-associate was aware enough that she immediately came and closed the door behind me. No amour from their staff, and no vert from me for their cash register today. I now see there have been two years worth of similar experiences & reviews, yet not one response from a manager, owner, or PR contact, which infers that no one with AV cares...so much for love in any language. read more

The customer service in this store is terrible. I came in one night to try on Agolde jeans and the sales lady didn't greet, offer to help, or ask if I needed a dressing room considering I was the only person in the store. It made me feel awkward and I ended up leaving after trying on two pairs of ill fitting jeans. I always thought the store itself was good in terms of being an ethical brand but this specific store was empty and unexciting to be in. You'd find better service and more exciting people to be around In Anthropologie or Madewell. read more

This store was surprisingly lovely. The prices are comparable to what you might see across the way at Anthropologie, which is a little more than I'd normally spend, but they seem to have a great mission with all their clothing made right here in the Bay Area from sustainable materials, vegan leather etc. (And they were donating 20 percent of proceeds to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital this past weekend--which is what first drew me in!) Found a classic and comfortable dress. GREAT accessories too! The staff were also super friendly and helpful. I'm a new fan! read more

Amour Vert is now in Palo Alto with their (relatively) new shop at Stanford Shopping Center. Flanked by Jenni Kayne and across from the flagship Anthropologie store, this is a bright spot in a center with lots of fast fashion (fashion made unethically with no thought to labor practices, pollution, waste, etc.). They offer a mix of upscale quality basics, with silk dresses, silk tops, toxic free premium denim, and curated leather sandals and shoes to round out their seasonal collections. The customer service here is always friendly and helpful, and each sales person I've encountered has been very knowledgeable about the product and their inventory. They will help you find silhouettes that will fit and flatter you, and there's a very large full wall mirror to assess what works for your body type in the fitting room area. The tees are made of a modal/spandex blend or a cotton/modal blend, making them very comfortable and lovely closet staples that you'll keep reaching for. I own striped, solids (gray, navy, black), and some pretty seasonal colors too (my latest purchase is a light rust colored long sleeve called Marsala). I've bought some really pretty dresses here as well for the wedding season - breatheable silk with timeless silhouettes and prints. Not everything is my style, but there's a lot to love at Amour Vert when they plant a tree for every t-shirt sold and think about their impact as a fashion company. They also stock other ethical brands - Charlotte Stone shoes, Kings of Indigo Denim, Agolde Denim, and sweet delicate gold jewelry from independent makers. And then there's my personal favorite ... Veja shoes made in Brazil with all fair trade sourcing! Sporty and very European in their design, and COMFY! I wore a pair in New York the first week that I had them and my feet were stylish and happy. I want to love and support this brand, but unfortunately this store location has sales associates that are untrained and have really bad attitudes. The other reviewers who have noted this are sadly right. I've seen them behave rudely on more than one occasion. At any other store in this mall (Jcrew, Madewell, etc.), sales people are friendly --they greet you, welcome you, offer to help you find what you're looking for. The associates (I've met and spoken to more than 3 or 4 of them) in this store all seem to lack training. The first time I wrote it off and thought no biggie- -it's retail. Sometimes you just get people who are rude and unhelpful. I love the brand itself and what they stand for (eco-friendly/sustainable). But wow, the store customer service is truly *awful*. They also seem to have an issue where the store thinks of themselves as separate from their website. When I brought a dress in for return, the sales rep told me "they" (meaning the online rep or warehouse, who knows) would send me an email once it was processed. They talked as if they were doing me (the customer) a huge favor by processing the return. I left the store assuming I would receive an email within the hour, or at least by end of day. Nothing. I had to call the store repeatedly to ask for some evidence of the return. When I asked to speak to their manager they told me their store "had no manager." It's sad because when I first started visiting this store last year the customer service was excellent-- friendly, helpful, and great at follow-up. One time they sent me the wrong item after they helped me order in the store, and when I called the associate was apologetic and helped it right away for me. I'd recommend avoiding until they find new management, or they get their act together to retrain the rude people they have working at this store. Avoid... spend your money elsewhere. read more

I was literally the only person in the store and the salesperson couldn't be bothered engaging with me. And this wasn't the first, second or even third time this happened. Today was the last straw. I only recently started shopping here, but I love Amour Vert already. It's on the pricier side, but stylish and high quality/well made. I love that the pieces are higher-end but also wearable day-to-day, and everything is made in the US and sustainable, too! The sales associates do seem a little more reserved but are still very helpful. They also never mind putting things on hold when I call ahead, which I do fairly often. The people who work at this store are awful. I really like the clothing. In fact, I have spent thousands of dollars on clothing from this brand in the last year alone. Yet, the women who work in this store cannot be bothered to be pleasant, let alone friendly. I have been to this location several times, and each time I have left frustrated and flabbergasted by how rude the sales associates are. I do not experience this anywhere else I shop, or even at this brand's other locations. Simple requests like "do you have this in another size?" "can I have a fitting room?" "would you ring me up?" are met with sighs and rolled eyes. God forbid you try to return something or have a problem with an item. I have no idea what these people think their job is, but if you ask them to do anything, they make it abundantly clear that you have disrupted them. If you like the clothing, I recommend buying online or at another branch. This location is just unpleasant. read more

3 stars simply because it's sustainable fashion...and the pieces are pretty well-made...not sure about wages but they are made in the US...$$$ price point for most items. 0 for customer service. I've done most of my purchases online with AV to avoid "Pretty Woman" situations but I drove to work in PA just so I could visit the Stanford SC store hoping to try on the classic leather jacket (recycled leather...designed in Sweden...sounds amazing right?). They had to order it from another store. I've been waiting for 10 days for a call since I specifically asked that they call me as soon as it came it so they wouldn't be tempted to sell it. Today I call and check and I just got a voice mail back that they in fact sold it already...no call. I was so excited about that jacket but maybe it was a lesson for me in materialism. Eco-fashion is just as addictive as fast fashion I find. However, it takes more time and research...which gives you time to become more invested in every purchase. There are so many amazing eco-fashion brands now days...maybe it's time to share the wealth! read more
