Instead, listeners will find a ton of electronic and very alternative music - so alternative no one outside of the musicians and producers have ever heard of it - as well as weird leftist news, an occasional sporting event and Melody du Jour, of which not enough has yet been said or heard. ZBC's programming could be best described as 'eclectic,' and at times that doesn't begin to fully describe the range of obscure and weird stuff found at 90.3. Yet, in a single day involving a baseball game, some serious funk right out of a '70s movie and a 12 minute synthesizer solo around midnight, eclectic really can expand one's aural horizons. That's not a bad thing at all.

WBCN is in quite a conundrum…read more Rock, as we once knew it, is, well, dead. You can hear it in the station. The entire format and base music hasn't changed one bit in over 12 years. Tune in and you'll be greeted by Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, or mid nineties grunge and slight post grunge rock. Maybe if you're particularly unlucky you'll get something like Fred Durst yelling to himself. Now this isn't really their fault. I mean look what's out there right now. Evanesence? Mushroom head? Linkin Park? My Chemical Romance? None of these bands are really, well, good. Not to say that Alice In Chains is the best music ever created, but there was more universal like and overlap to that than listening to FALLOUT BOY. And I think that's why they haven't changed. 'BCN (as we call it here in Bahstahn) is still trying to cater to the 35 year old commuter from Quincy to the 15 year old high school student from Newton, to the 23 year old college guy. And rock's gotten too polarized for that. I used to listen to the DIAMOND DAVID LEE ROTH show back when that complete lack of funny was on the air and I couldn't believe it. Capitol try though, guys. Maybe the next wave of rock is brewing?

The Hill Man Morning Show keeps me laughing on the way to work every morning, and there's a surprising amount of intelligent debate on all sorts of topics (although you often have to dig for the key points between jokes about Spaz). It gives you a real feel for the people of Boston as you hear listeners call in to give an opinion on the day's hot topic. I've grown up on this radio station, and it beats anything else on the dial. AAF rocks

Gerry Callahan and John Dennis are scumbags…read more I've listened to this station before as my dad and brothers are huge sports fans (vomit). But this past election day they proved just how disgusting they are as radio hosts. The Massachusetts Secretary of State's office had to contact the hosts and station manager to tell them to "knock it off" after multiple phone calls to the State House reported that the election was postponed. Mr. Callahan and Mr. Dennis are apparently big GOP McCain fans and were telling listeners that voting was being postponed until Wednesday. Which by the way, interfering with elections is against the law. Your station manager says they were "obviously joking" but if so, then why were calls flooding into state offices and even one listener said his, "father-in-law believed the elections were postponed and called because he was so upset." You're no better than the people who posted fake signs saying "Deomcrats to vote on Wednesday" or telling urban residents that police officers would be at the polls to arrest anyone with outstanding legal/financial obligations.
