    Birkenstocks repaired
    Allison C.

My Birkenstocks were falling apart, and Amparo's fixed them up super functionally for a great price and quick turnaround. Only downside is I ended up with glue on the straps in a few places, but considering I don't need to throw them in the trash, I'd say a great deal.

Cork repair after 3 months of additional wear - holding up well (despite the supination wear)!

Amparo's has been repairing our Birkenstocks for more than 8 years. We're hard on our soles. Lots of heel wear. Supination wear. Tough on cork. We get our 10 pairs of sandals repaired every several months. Amparo's always does a great job with partial or whole footbed repairs - much better than local competitors we've tried over the years. He's honest, thorough, and always provides a great value. Only things to know before going are it's cash-only and being flexible with drop-off/pickup times will ensure you're happy. We get great service and suspect you will, too.

    Finished product. Ugh!

I was hoping for a 5-star experience. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I dropped off a pair of boots which had The rubber heels coming loose. I asked if they could glue them back together and shine the boots. He asked for four days - no problem. I came back today and the boots heels were glued back on but the glue was seeping out the sides and now dried like paint dripping down a wall. Definitely not a five star treatment. He also forgot to shine the boots. He said can you wait a minute and he shined them for me. These were nice leather boots which all they needed was an leather oil shine. He put a brown shoeshine polish on them which now I have to have stripped and re-shined somewhere else. Definitely not a five-star experience.

Fixed a broken heal on the spot for a great price. Total gem and I'll bring more shoes in the future. Thank you!

His work is good and got one pair of shoes back the same day! I drove from Fremont to this place and it was worth it!

I bought new boots online and realized they needed some padding to protect the sole.

I came…read morein earlier this year to fix the bottoms of some vintage Ferragamo's and was very satisfied with the job and how they fixed up the velvet exterior as well - plus, I forgot to mention when I dropped them off that I wouldn't be able to pick them up and they shipped it too me no problem (obviously I paid a fee for it but duh). I have so many of my grandma's vintage shoes to bring in and know that I can trust them to do a great job on every single pair. Is it expensive? Yes, a bit. But are you paying for skill? Absolutely. They're craftsmen/women and deserve it! Thank you and great job!

Whatever product they used or method they used it changed the color of the leather. It made them way darker in certain part of the boot very inconsistent. You can see in the pictures the different shades in the leather. It gives the impression that only one part of the boot was cleaned. I wish they would have giving me a quick run down of what they were going to do to the boots. Not cool walking around with half tan half brown boots. They charged $35 for this color scheme. They messed up my Thorogood boots. Not a cheap boot. I don't recommend this place. There another Cobbler in town that did my other work boots for half the price and they didn't change the color on the leather. STAY AWAY.

At one point she responded to my text saying that she would be delivering the (ostensibly repaired) shoes on the weekends. That was in March and no shoes appeared so I have tried to call her but her voicemail is full. I text her again and again. I'm sympathetic to personal issues, but seriously, how often does a business have family "emergencies"? I've lost both my money and a pair of perfectly fine loafers, not to mention the several drives be had to make as a reward for giving them my business. Never again!! Outrageous.
