Disclaimer: I didn't request shoes to be repaired but was referred here by a laundromat after they said they could not repair my zipper on my leather motorcycle pants and recommended I look for a shoe repair shop due to leather expertise. Look, I wanted to give this store 5 stars due to the technique and skill that Victor possesses. I do not doubt his skill AT ALL and am NOT at all trouncing him craftsmanship-wise. It's just, as a business, I felt the customer service end was very lacking, hence the 3 stars. He did a wonderful job repairing the pants and it is in much better condition than before, having him even explain how the prior shop used glue which is terrible for leather. I appreciate his explanations. He will give you a ticket with a number on it, with a agreed on price written on it that you need to pay him in CASH when you pick up (more on this later). It's the customer service and experience that needs work. He originally said when I first consulted with him and dropped off the pants on April 14, that it would take time and would be done in about 3 weeks or so. I was fine with it as I was going on vacation for awhile. When I returned, I dropped by May 19 to pick it up. He just shoos me away and says that it is not ready, give him 10 days. At that time, I noticed someone else picking up her shoes from him in front of me. Her ticket number was about 200+ after mine, meaning he potentially doesn't do the orders in consecutive order. I return on June 3, 15 days afterwards, and he still says it is not ready. I did see he just started as the zipper was finally off but nothing new was sewed on. 2 days later, he calls me saying it's finished. This means my order was delayed multiple times with other orders prioritized, taking nearly 2 months to finish compared to the original promised time. Therefore, if you need an order soon, you probably need to reiterate it to him many times. Now the cash part. I did not mind it was cash or check only. However, MAKE SURE YOU BRING NEW BILLS. I had an older printed $100 that I used to pay. He has this "bill reading machine" that I'm not super clear what it is that he inserts bills into that tells him if they are real or fake. My $20s read fine but then my $100 read fake. He shouts at me "Hey, this is fake!" in a pretty rude tone. I asked him to re-read it a couple times but he insisted it was fake. Therefore, I ended up having to wait till the following week with a brand new $100, which read fine. The catch was, I deposited the $100 in a bank and the teller checked, proving it was real. My issue is not that he doesn't accept the old $100, it's more of his attitude towards the situation, which given the delay from an overpromised return multiple times, already compounded my frustration. TL;DR - Overall, Victor does excellent work just like other reviewers have said. I sincerely think his customer service demeanor can use some work, as well as having a better way in organizing his schedule or deadlines, perhaps even capping his workload, so that he does not overestimate the time he has to finish projects. Overpromising return days are also something that can be problematic. Otherwise, I do thank him for the excellent craftsmanship. Cash or check only. read more

This morning I brought in a handmade belt that was too big and a secondhand leather Fossil crossbody bag with a non-adjustable strap that was apparently designed for a much taller person. Victor punched two more holes in the belt and shortened the purse strap so expertly that the stitching on both ends looks exactly the same. He even returned the extra strap length to me, saying that if I ever wanted to make it longer again, he could use it to create a loop for me. He promised to have the work done at 1 PM; when I arrived back at his shop at 12:50 PM, he was already finished. Victor was fast, courteous, and reasonably priced. I'm very happy with his work. He is clearly very good at his job and I feel it was worth every penny. Sometime soon, I will take my microfiber Hobo bag in to have an extra hole punched in the strap, as it is also a bit on the long side. Thank you so much, Victor. I appreciate you! read more

What a score of a place, was looking for a shoe repair place here where we live and voila, stumbled on this gem! My husband has a pair of Mephisto's that he pretty much lives in, most come shoes ever and of course, the company stops making them. I was deterring to find another pair in his size on EBay--and though they had them, o e shoe was slightly lighter than the other. We wanted to match them and get the other darker. Viktor was honest and super transparent about telling us that he couldn't guarantee it would be a perfect match. Unbeknown to us, he also pointed out that this shoe had been worked on and advised us to return them. But because we got them for a fraction of the price of originals and buy husband was desperate to keep them, we opted for Viktor to work on them ... I literally told him, if you can get them to even remotely match, each other.g. 10% more dark, we'll be happy. We also took in another pair of Mephisto's for him to overall condition and replace the laces. Again Viktor was honest about what he could and could not reasonably do. He's super =chill and relaxed, friendly and funny, very kind and sweet. This is a major step up from the place I used to go to. Don't ask. He quoted us a reasonable price. The shop is small and a step back into another era, with leather literally oozing pout of its pores lo :-) It's smack downtown and parking can be tough, so plan accordingly, though there are lots everywhere. read more

I had a bunch of shoes with worn down heels/soles that I didn't want to throw away: 1 pair of rubber snow boots 1 pair of leather boots 1 pair of leather flats 1 pair of kitten heel flats 1 pair of canvas sneakers Victor cleaned and repaired all five pairs for a reasonable price ($225 total). I was especially impressed by how he repaired the sneakers. The sneakers were totally busted, and I imagine most cobblers wouldn't have bothered with them. But Victor built up the soles of the heels and dyed the heel counters. He was also very nice and honest. I brought a pair of old sweater boots with partially separated uppers and soles. Victor said he could make entirely new soles for them, but each sole would cost $70. I ultimately decided not to get them repaired, since their original price was less than $140. The service merits five stars, easily, but I'm taking off a star because the shop itself is pretty outdated. - Victor only takes cash or check. He didn't mention this when I initially called him prior to dropping off my shoes. I paid $100 up front and the remaining $125 when I picked up the shoes a week later. I happened to have a lot of cash that day, but that was unusual for me. And I can't remember the last time I had to write a physical check?? - The pickup system is inconvenient. I guess it's not really a system at all. I dropped off the shoes on a Thursday, and he told me to return the following Thursday. Unfortunately, he closed early on my pickup day, so I had to return again on Friday. He closed the shop for a very valid reason, but it would have been nice if he'd called me to arrange a pickup time. Despite these complaints, I would probably return to this shop for future shoe repairs. I'm really happy cobblers still exist in this age of fast fashion. read more

Victor said "To change the whole zipper it would be about $200 but I can help you by fixing the one on the pack, and blocking the area where the break is for $45. Can you come back in an hour?" Suffice it to say I came back in an hour to a totally repaired and serviceable backpack one happy customer. Now I might have been lucky, as he might have been having a slow day that day.
