The first was for a BiPAP machine -- they were so slow that I ended up going with a local Sacramento supplier instead, who came through much faster and actually got me what I needed. I gave Lincare a second chance for a nebulizer and a few other items. I wasn't in a rush this time, so the slow turnaround was frustrating but tolerable. What wasn't tolerable was the delivery itself -- what arrived was completely wrong. Not even close to what I ordered. Now I'm stuck dealing with a return. I can't say for certain why this happens, but I have to wonder: are they substituting what's on the shelf -- or what carries a better profit margin -- instead of filling the actual order? I don't know their internal practices, but the pattern is hard to ignore. And let's talk about value: durable medical equipment isn't cheap, and insurance only covers so much. When you're paying out of pocket or burning through your benefits on the wrong item, that's real money lost -- not just an inconvenience. You expect what you pay for. That's the bare minimum. This isn't just a Lincare problem. Large national durable medical equipment companies have a habit of assuming patients don't know exactly what they need -- and some seem to use that to their advantage. We noticed it smelled like cigarette smoke, you know the kind of smell of smoke after being in a casino all nite long.... I called BTS at 4:35pm and explained the chonudrum of odor, he said Mike just took a brand new one out of the box to bring to us, well I said my sister is sitting 2 feet away from it and can smell the smoke, he said he will deliver a new one on his way home from work. I was impressed that he was willing to deliver a new one on his way home and of the prompt service of Mike earlier. This morning my sister shared with me the events of yesterday afternoon when the guy who brought the replacement over, said that Mike must have delivered a used one by mistake, so not only did it smell like smoke but it wasn't disinfected from the last person that passed away on it and it was brought into my Moms house..... gross. I am so glad when Mike was here we did not place it on my Moms bed but waited. My sister (Lydia K.) also shared with me what the replacement delivery guy, who she thinks is the owner, said about Mike (shame on you for rbad mouthing a coworker) My sister also said good thing I wasn't there when the replacement delivery guy came..... because she knows how I have expectations of medical professionals and I would have called him out on it and not as politely or nice as Lydia would have.
