We travel Interstate 5 often. When we find an easy place to get gas plus use the restroom we tend to frequent the location. To make my list the place must have a clean restroom. This Arco/AMPM meets this criteria of easy access and clean restrooms. As a bonus the gas is on the cheaper side in Buttonwillow and the AMPM has every sort of drink or snack you could think of. If you are near Buttonwillow on the 5, need gas and have to use the restroom this is a safe stop. Warning: be cautious of entering if the person in front of you has been in the restroom for awhile. These are private restrooms and entering after a long wait could be troublesome. read more

UPDATE: Had to use the restroom again, it smelled bad so I febreezed it :) I finally paid it forward and helped someone with a gallon worth of gas. Additionally, I met a really cute couple with two cute doggos! They're headed to Portland! What a long journey, I hope they and get there safely! This place rocks! :) read more

Not much happens in these boondock areas except for gas and beer. Since I had pulled over I decided on going in and buying some lottery tickets and carbonated water. The employees had either latex gloves and masks on due to the COVID-19 pandemic. read more

Sure, it's clean, just like all the other reviewers mention... but this one lady who works there is SO RUDE. My friend paid for nacho chips, then went to put cheese on it. He pressed down on the pump and nothing came out. The lady started screaming, "No cheese! NO CHEESE!" How about saying so before he wanted NACHOS and in a nice calm voice? This is cheap gas on the way back to the bay area and the Acro had all the refreshments I needed. Its a hidden gem as this spot has competitive gas rates. I would definitely GPS back here again and avoid paying a dollar extra on gasoline. read more

Terrible, the staff are very unfriendly, their prices are completely wrong on certain items, the bathrooms don't have soap (figures considering how dirty they look), and their covid-19 safety guild lines are not even there. I saw people walking in with no masks and sometimes even employees. The reason i'm writing this review is because the way staff was today was really uninviting, they were very stern and weren't nice all because of problems that had to do with their checkout/card reader. The employee checking us out tried telling us that my card was the problem, but his coworker said to try on his side, and it ends up working. I would hope to see this review helps other. read more

Half the pumps were out of order when I came here. Fortunately, it wasn't super busy, which made that bearable. The ARCO does have some of the lowest gas prices at the exit--comparable to the no-name brand station up the block. (Simply went to ARCO because it was convenient to where we were picking up food). I will say that the pumps pump incredibly slow here. Maybe it was simply because half of them weren't working? Maybe the issue was unrelated? Took a while to get gas, but at least we were able to fill up and carry on our way. read more

The grapevine is a beast. It's long, empty and boring... But at least for me, this location is the "mid-point" of my trip and I always make my pit-stop here. Arco always has the most decent price on gas (with consideration of the location.) There are a good number of pumps and I almost never have to wait to fill up... even during the holidays! (I just came back from NorCal for Thanksgiving.) Additionally, I'm a ONE STOP only type of gal... so when I must use the facilities, this place is prime. For a while there, they had a locking door problem, but they managed to fix that with a nice little deadbolt. They also updated it to have a baby changing station and toilet seat covers. (YAY!) They have good deals on drinks and snacks if you need them, and their staff is friendly for the most part. Every time I pass through I try and joke about random stuff with the employees... (Current celeb gossip, the weather, traffic, ect.) But it almost never goes over well.... ha-ha. Oh well. Anyhoo... If you are traveling along the demon that is the Grapevine, Make sure you stop at Arco for all your travel needs!! read more

My to go spot when I am rollin' down to LA or heading back to the Bay. Cheapest gas out off all the places in the town, and they even have a Taco Truck serving Mexican deliciousness that won't make you stop 5 times on your trip after you've ate. They have picnic benches where you could enjoy your tacos and cold beer. Plenty of snacks available and a good choice of jerky for all you meat chewers. Don't get pimped at the other gas spots and pay almost 50 cents more a gallon, save your money for the good times at the end of your 5 fwy adventure. read more

***The good thing about this Arco (right off the 5 way on the way to and from San Francisco) is that the gas prices seemed reasonable (like most Arco stations); unfortunately, the debit card readers at the gas station isles did not seem that well maintained (one was not working and the other did not smoothly take or dispense the card; I would worry about a debit card being damaged or getting stuck here); on the plus side, this Arco did have a pretty big convenience store with lots of snacks, sweets and drinks (including some that were reasonably priced for a gas station)*** I think this gas station has a few free parking spaces available if you just need to pick up a snack or drink at this gas station's convenience store. read more

7 random cars painted with purple and green (TEAM in Training colors) window paint, bike racks full of precious cargo we call our babies and a bunch of rowdy triathletes pumped up for the weekend festivities. Our caravan stopped here to refuel and pick up some snacks on our way to Lake San Antonio for the Wildflower Triathlon a few weeks ago. For me, that fuel was a Giant Ice Cream sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! I've stopped in Buttonwillow before but I had never stopped at this gas station. The parking lot is HUGE and was even had enough pumps to accommodate each of us getting gas without having to wait. Pretty impressive! The convenience store is pretty large and accommodated us 30+ peeps rushing the store for junk food. Some even picked up beer for the weekend and comments were that the prices were actually decent and not as high as they would've expected. I was reminded to review this place over the weekend as I rolled passed it on the boring stretch of I-5...AGAIN! read more

Interestingly, this place was, for the first time on my three years of SF-LA-SF commuting, cheaper than the Love's Travel Stop in Lost Hills. And I was in a rental car, so whatever rumors you believe about the inferiority of Arco gas was... um... less relevant. Easy in-and-out, cheap, and there's a taco truck there I'll try next time, because the McDonalds next door gave me some seriously room temperature french fries on Sunday. read more

I haven't gotten gas here but the last time I stopped in, it seemed like people were having problems with paying for their gas through the outdoor kiosks. An Indian woman who worked there, name unknown, would not let my son (a 21 year old Black/Native man) use the bathroom, as we were traveling. He was having brief, friendly conversation with the man coming out of the restroom, as he was going in, because he recognized him. The worker then YELLED at my son, and told him he could not use the bathroom and he had to leave! He was visibly upset when he got in the car, but we had to go find another restroom. So here I am, calling her out. All I can think of is RACISM or she is just a horrible person. He is a very nice young man and did not do anything wrong. DON'T STOP THERE! There are so many beetles or cockroaches or something that run all over the parking lot of this AM/PM. I think it's because it's hot and it's right next to a field. We stopped here for gas and tried to let our dog out. The entire time, there were huge bugs flying all over our car. I couldn't even get out to use the bathroom. Scary. One of the most DISGUSTING bathrooms I've ever seen- trash all over the bathroom, dirty walls, nasty toilet and a busted door. Needless to say I didn't use the toilet and didn't bother with the gas either. The only people I saw working were the food vendors setting up their displays. The rest of it might be convenient, but I'm not trying to see how convenient it is to pick up a disease in the bathroom. read more

If you are a local, then you're just a local. Short review: Meh. Full review: Friend was driving me and other friends from Chico back home to Southern California (Me being in LA County, the rest San Diego County) and, throughout all of our stops and fun on the freeway, we stopped here as our third to last place for gas. MUCH cheaper than the previous one that charges $4 a gallon. Way to exploit travelers, so yay to this one! Didn't buy anything else but the gas, but, what gave this review a 3-star is because it's standard. Nothing outstanding or horrible to give it a higher or lower score. As always, I say whether or not I'll be back. Possibly. Given that I'm likely to travel through the same route, I might end up back here. With that, happy travels! read more

I've been driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco twice a week for two years, and have been to probably every gas station on the 5. This has become the ONLY gas station I will stop at on my trip. The gas price there is often 30 cents lower than every other station. (That adds up! Saves about 5 bucks every fill-up.) It is also, for northbound drivers, just seconds off and back on the freeway. Exit the 5 and you're right there. Good selection of snacks and drinks at reasonable prices, and the employees have been friendly to me. The only reasons I knock one star off are these: The bathrooms are for just one person each, and the lines for both the men's and women's are often long. I suggest they remodel these restrooms to make them accessible to more than one person at a time, with an extra stall in the women's and a urinal in the men's. There's room for it. Also, the restrooms need to be cleaned more often. read more

Haha they turn the outside debit machine into a TV and you have to go inside and guess how much gas you need to pay. I won't be back at this one I usually Arcos gas stations but this one is stupid. So this Arco is one of the better ones I have seen in a while. And they take CREDIT CARDS! I know that all of these Argos charge $0.35 for debit but none of them have ever taken credit cards for payment. Also the food was actually fresh and the bakery looked so enticing . You definitely gotta get some cookies and donuts and some coffee or you're missing out. Plus bathrooms without needing a key! Need I say more? read more
