I also buy just about every card I need for any occasion, you'll have to dig a bit but I can usually succeed in getting a hilarious card or a blank one for writing my own positive sentiment. They have costumes are well, including fire chief hats for any work drills that require comedy. The couple that own this establishment are incredibly helpful and chatty. Never truly a destination, but this is a great place to start your hunt for the perfect cheap something-or-another. The times that I have gone searching for things: toy water guns, a string of fake pearls, St. Patty's Day or Canada Day schwag - they don't disappoint. Oh the stuff I can find - all perfect for a theme party! For what it is, a cheap place with quite an assortment of random stuff, it's quite a awesome little store. Cheap and easy. I moved into Van last year and didn't know where to start getting my stuff for my apartment. I can say I bought roughly 80% of my stuff here. I spent probably 100$ outfitting my whole apartment with everything from dishes to towels. It's cheap for a reason because the quality isn't great! But That's what it is; a dollar store! This store has just about everything needed when it comes to home, kitchen, garden and office supplies - on top of fun party supplies & greeting cards. I moved to Vancouver recently & found this store on Davie St. near me. I felt a wash of regret for the $14 toothbrush holder cups I spent at Canadian Tire. At Amy's they have pretty much the same white ceramic cup for $3. I also picked up some coat hangers, wooden spoons, plastic bins, USB micro-adapter cable, and so much other stuff I needed for our new place. Everything is pretty good quality. The store is nicely organized and clean. The couple who owns this store along with their very polite nephew are so nice and helpful & fun to deal with. A sophisticated and charming couple run this place. They are the first Dollar Store workers/owners I have ever met who have the eye to buy what their customers really want. The wife also is a savvy but completely unpressured upseller on occasion. She does it very effectively because she knows her merchandise so well. They seem to enjoy their work and it shows in this small but well represented shop. They handle the busy times like Hallowe'en with aplomb and have excellent people skills. I have two dollar stores near where I live by Denman street and I will take the time and walk up to Davie just to spend my money at this store. We have been going here for years, and it is the place we get most of our costumes for all the events we attend... and the BEST PRIDE stuff. I couldn't find what I was looking for at the Dollar Tree, however, I found it here. Here is the problem...the item for a simple notebook was $6!. I knew that for a store called "Dollar store with more" that it wasn't going to be a true dollar store, however, get your head out of your a$$ $6 for a notebook really? I find a few things stupidly priced, however, most were reasonable within the $1 - $3 mark. I ended up spending 20 minutes in the dollar store buying card and scrap booking material. Customer service was awesome and helpful. 3 stars only 'cause of the over priced stuff. read more

The male owner is super friendly and tries to help you out to the best of his ability. He personalized your visit and acts like you are a good old friend that he hasn't seen in a long time. They also have a variety of things, almost everything. Slightly more things than the average dollar store. They have a lot of costume-type stuff too, if that's what you're looking for. The owners are just lovely, and quite helpful. However, they overcharge on their taxes. They charge GST on the amount that has the PST already charged on. If you are spending a few dollars at this store, it will make a difference on what you should actually be paying. A little FYI. Check your receipts! read more

Watch out for this store! It won't take returns even if the item is unopened and returned hours after purchase. The sales woman became abusive when I suggested not taking back an unused item still in the original packaging and with the bill of sale was unfair. Apparently this store doesn't recognize fair , customer appreciation or service. There are other dollar type stores with just as much stuff and I suggest you patronize them. Overpriced and rude. All items priced higher and more expensive than any other dollar store on Davie Pushy attitude by female owner who treats it like a bargain bazaar and she is giving you a good deal selling FAKE junk until you attempt to return it because it is defective and dangerous. Poor customer service and the female owner is not an asset at all since she started working there. COMPARE prices you'll see there's a big difference with their's being much higher - shop elsewhere if you are wise. read more

It's an amazing store where I got local gifts from Canada for my relatives in USA with affordable prices and saved 50% comparing to the same gifts and quality that I bought from other stores! I have been going to this store for more than 5 years and never had a problem. I enjoy the owners, they are very friendly. I notice people complaining about no take back policy. I know our dollar stores in our city do not take back items, however I would expect them to take back defective items. My daughter, who lives in Maple Ridge, was needing yellow boas for costumes. She had inquired at all the dollar stores, Fabricana and also party stores. I told my daughter to give Amy's Loonie Toonie on Davie them a call as they usually have most things, sure enough they had them for 1/2 the price of the other stores. As I was going downtown anyway I picked them up for her. read more

I purchased a wheeled shopping cart(orange) and didnt have time to wait for the owner to put the hardware on, which he seemed reluctant to do. I needed the cart later that day and was carrying about 30 lbs. in it. Even though there were not enough washers(according to the instructions) by the time I had wheeled it a short distance, gotten on a bus for a short distance and gotton off, the pin, spring and washer were gone. I had to drag it up the street and found a stick to put through the hole, which didnt last. The item had instructions that were hard to understand. The papersize instruction sheet says on the go and was imported by Standa. The price was $24.00 which in my opinion was a total rip off. Also it would not turn properly and the side pins where it is connected to the handles kept pulling out, as they were not securely welded. I would like to return this item for a refund or another cart that is properly put together with the owners help. I will call the store tomorrow as this is unfair. The cart is worth about 5 bucks. read more
