I placed an order for a cake last week for my father-in-law while he was visiting from out of town. This bakery has always been his favorite bakery, and he has enjoyed their cakes for many years while living in Montebello. When I called to place the order, I was directed to submit it online. I completed the online order and received a text confirmation stating that I would receive a response within two days. After two days passed with no response, I called to follow up and was told that someone would be contacting me regarding my order. Another two days passed without any communication, so I called again to check on the status. At that point, I was informed that my order had never actually been placed because a deposit was required. However, I was never informed of any deposit requirement during the ordering process or in any of the communications I received. I was then told that, unfortunately, the bakery would not be able to make the custom cake. I explained the entire situation and shared how much this cake meant to my father-in-law, as this bakery has been a special place for him over the years. Despite explaining the circumstances, no effort was made to find a solution. As a business owner myself, I understand that mistakes can happen. However, I also believe in doing everything possible to make things right for customers when issues arise. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Due to the lack of communication, misinformation, and poor customer service, I will not be ordering from this bakery again and cannot recommend it to others. read more

This place was popping. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. I got their cannoli Amy's delight cake slice, and of course snoopy sugar cookie. This was my first time having a cannoli and it had a soft shell and was filled with plenty of thick a bit citrusy cream and crunchy chocolate chips. Eh. The cake slice was MASSIVE and had layers of fluffy, delicate, not dry white and chocolate cake, a thin layer of silky custard, plenty of not too sweet whipped creamy icing, fresh strawberries and bananas that added a nice fruity pop and was surrounded by some roasty toasty crunchy almonds. The snoopy sugary cookie was SUPER CUTE, had a yummy, fun, not too sweet, crunchy icing and buttery not dry cookie. Lowkey obviously my fave thing. Overall this place is pretty good. After ordering a couple of cakes throughout the years through telephone orders, I was told that I can place an order online so I decided to do that this time. I placed an online cake order through their website on a Monday with the hopes of picking up the cake on the following Saturday. The website tells you it should take two days to be notified about your order. By Wednesday, I still had not received a call. I called the bakery and was told that I would get a call back that day by a manager. I did not get a phone call that day. So I called on Thursday afternoon a couple of times and no one answered and was told to call back by a recorded message via the phone. On Friday morning, I called them again and was told that I would be called back by the person who does the online orders. She was apparently on a 10 minute break. After an hour and a half I still have not received a callback. I was starting to get nervous because I really needed this cake for Saturday. So I attempted to call again and was finally helped. I was able to pick up the cake at the time I needed it. It was a little pricier than I remember. I don't know if that was because I ordered online or their prices have gone up. I really contemplated writing this review, because the cake is delicious but I think they need to fix this online order procedure that they have. I was unnecessarily stressed out all week about this cake situation. Unfortunately I don't see myself returning as a customer because of this experience. read more

Update: called the shop and spoke to mgr ginger about why no one has called me or emailed back after I was told to email my concern and she started they will reach out, but can't give me a timeline. She did advise because I was delivered a cake to replace my order (not what we wanted and smaller than what I paid for) I would not get compensation or difference. My mom picked up some pastries for my birthday and wow -- I was so impressed! The presentation was absolutely beautiful and everything looked so elegant. I got the crème brûlée, fruit tart, and cheesecake. All of them were delicious, but the fruit tart was hands down my favorite. So fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Very impressive neighborhood bakery! It's very clean and organized. Take a number when you arrive from the ticket machine near the door. Start browsing at the available pastries, cupcakes, cookies and cakes. When your number is called, go to the staff who called your number at the counter and tell them what you want. I picked out a variety to try. Got a spinach pastry, a huge apple turnover, blueberry strudel, creme brûlée cup, Neapolitan , custard chocolate mini eclair and a fruit tart today. Oh boy, my family is going to have a treat when I get home! (Later ...everything was great! I visited this business about a month in advance regarding a custom cookie order for my event and was instructed by the cookie decorator to come in 2-3 days before the event to place the order. When I followed those instructions, I was told I could not place the order. It's disappointing to be given information that isn't honored. Not only was my time wasted, but I was also left with very little time to find another option for my event. Terrible customer service. read more

Well I am here today my old stomping grounds I have not been here since I was 25ish omg still excellent. I remember getting cream puffs and still amazingly delicious. I can't eat it without milk with ice so good and the staff super friendly total about $7 bucks n change great memories here from my childhood and now will coming more often I live close to hear. Definitely worth the stop you see what they have and you can eat it here or on the go. Plenty of parking if you are at the DMV come by it's across the street. read more

It's time to start giving my business of 16years to another bakery or small business. Trying to charge $100 for a 8" round chocolate/banana cake. I live an hour out of the area, but I had to order from Amy's for my cousin's 50th birthday cake. I saw the custom cakes on Yelp and had to order one for this very special occasion. I ordered in shop and paid in full one week before. They have you select all colors and items on cake in detail to get your order right. I called in advance to make one small change five days before pick up. I showed up on time to pick up cake. Yet, they wanted to make sure to set it in their refrigerator so the frosting wouldn't move on my drive home. No worries, because it was gorgeous. My entire family loved it. It tasted great also. The birthday girl was so surprised with the extravagance and beauty of the cake. Thanks Amy's for making my cousin's 50th birthday a day to remember. read more

The employees were very nice. No shade to them or the business but I bought 2 crème brûlées and when I got to my car I realized they didn't torch the top. I went back in and kylie said that they don't torch the top because it's comes pre torched but since it's in the fridge, the top melts together with the bottom and it just looks liquidy. So they don't torch them and they can't cause they'll burn the fruit. I told her to take the fruit off but she said that she didn't have the equipment. Had I known, I wouldn't have bought them. I'm only posting because it just sucks to pay for something and not get the standard dessert that I was expecting. My family and I have come to Amy's for over a decade, and plan to continue supporting as the good outweighs the bad. The review is for the service. The staff seems to have high turnover, there's usually someone new every visit. The service is consistently bad. 4/5 of my last visits were with individuals who were not friendly, extremely impatient, and overall did not seem like they wanted to be working. I HOPE management takes some action, Amy's is a Montebello staple, but I would consider going out of my way to other bakeries if it meant better service. Cakes here are great, they offer custom cakes (good luck with the service at this counter), a coffee menu, fresh baked tarts, cakes, grab and go cakes, etc. Inside is large, parking is ample and free. read more

Service is quick, they have a ticket dispenser you can grab a number to wait if there is a wait. I wanted to try out this place as I was in the area but will not be returning as it's very pricy for no wow factor. I can't say much about their made to order custom cakes that other people are raving about, haven't tried them. Heart shape mousse were light and not too sweet. I recently purchased a full sheet cake. I asked for pineapple/custard filling. They did not add the custard as for the Pineapple preserves they only added a tiny film. So very disappointed! Amy's has been one of our family's favorite bakeries for years---since my childhood. For the past few years, I have been ordering the Pecan Ring on Christmas. This year, I waited too long to order it online, and when I finally went online to order it (probably a few days before Christmas) the online ordering was not available. I called the next morning, and was told that they had been swamped and were no longer accepting online orders. She said it would be first-come-first serve, and just to come in on Christmas Eve. So I went in the morning on Christmas Eve, and was surprised that there was not a line outside. I entered the bakery and took a number. I still had to wait, but I was out of there after 30 minutes or so. The bakery was very festive with holiday decorations and music---the ambience was nice and cheerful. Once my number was called, service was quick and efficient. I just picked up the Pecan Ring, which we had for Christmas breakfast the next day. The Pecan Ring is a flaky pastry covered in whole pecans and coated with a light icing. It's best warmed up, and such a great accompaniment to our Christmas breakfast. We really enjoyed it! Although I only got the Pecan Ring for Christmas, I have ordered many a birthday cake from Amy's in the past, which are always good! read more

Went to visit Amy's Pastry while I was in the area! They have a large selection of bread, cookies, pastries and cakes. All the employees assume that everyone who walks in the door knows what to do, so I didn't realize I needed to grab a number from the ticket dispenser till they started calling out numbers! I visited in mid September, and by then, everyone is excited for Halloween! So they had a whole bunch of Halloween stuff up and various Halloween cookies up for sale! I had to try one of their cute zombie cookies, and made sure to try a dozen of their normal cookies as well! My favorite were the chocolate thumbprint cookie, and the cupcake! The others (a guy and another girl didn't get their names) were short and impatient. I came into the store twice. A community favorite! People from the office celebrate with delicious cakes from Amy's! This time I was here to pick up some cannoli, since we had some recently in Boston. The store was dark inside and only a few customers - in contrast to Boston where it was bright and crowded with delicious cannoli. I didn't wait long and took my order home. I was having a theme party and the staff really got it and I was so happy. I'm a baker myself and would usually make my own cookies and cakes, though I wanted a more professional look and took some things off my plate! This place is quite large for a bakery which I like! Not too crowded. Very spacious and lots of options too! I got the Mexican Mocha. Very tasty and well balanced. Sweet but strong robust flavor!
