Kuromi vanilla cake w image added.

I've gone there and the cakes taste amazing as always. The lady in the front gave me ideas and options I can request for the image I requested which was very helpful. It may look rundown but TRUST ME! It's a hidden gem! Had to lower the rating bc my birthday cake mangos felt and looked old. Decoration wasn't how I wanted but it was okay

Happy birthday to me and my sweetie!!!

Very consistent. They make a great white cake with strawberries. It's classic great for birthdays weddings anniversaries whatever. They're able to whip it up for 30 people in 2 to 3 hours. That's pretty darn amazing. Obviously you need to call and make sure they're not overwhelmed with business, but the last two times I got cakes for them. It was the best got plenty of positive compliments on how good the cake was from so many friends and family who tasted it. What else can you ask for? People who work there are very nice, accommodating, and really just down to good people. Support them.

Love love them! We have been coming here for over 15 years. We love their traditional cakes but recently we have brought them pictures of simple designs we would like on the cakes. Never disappoints! They are not known for their cake designs but more of how good they are so we know we can't expect fondant cakes but so far 10/10 all flavors are amazing!

2/3/22 haven't been here in a LONG time

2/3/22 From the outside, with its metal curtain/gate facade, it certainly looks unwelcoming & unappealing. This store has been a community fixture for so many years & it is well known in the neighborhood to boast many yummy delights. Been patronizing this bakery many times over the years, passed by it many times before back when my mom worked at the old LAC-USC county hospital-yes, that huge monstrosity of a building that stands over all of Boyle Heights! Never disappointed in my purchases & has fed the crew, both dayshift & nightshift, with many wonderful & aesthetically pleasing cakes. As I entered the premises (wondering how many years it has been since I've gone in), the kindly lady behind the counter asks what she help me with. I told her that everything looks so good & it might some time to decide which to purchase for the crew. I've been meaning to drop off a special piece for the ortho department at Keck Med. Center of USC (nursing unit, 6 North) for the wonderful job taking great care of me. I have to make sure to bring something for each shift (knowing fully well that nightshift doesn't get much, usually only leftovers from the day). Everyone MUST know, the nightshift has a special place in my heart, don't ever think that all patients are asleep at night-in fact, a lot of unspeakable things happen at night that makes the crew even more stellar. NOTE: bring a separate piece for nightshift** Many of my fellow/co-workers buy from Maria's for our unit's special occasions: birthdays, baby showers or for just enjoying sweets. You can call ahead to order or try your luck & get one that's already made from their fridge. The staff there has been very patient & accommodating. As I mentioned before, it could definitely use a makeover (from maybe 29 years ago LOL). It looks very rundown, otherwise it could've earned an extra star. Overall for the taste & aesthetics of their cakes: 5 stars for sure! Can't emphasize enough--CASH ONLY.

    Vanilla cheesecake.. yum!

I love this little bakery! I have been coming here for years and was first introduced to this bakery by my mom who used to work at LA County. The cakes are tasty and fresh. They fill the cakes with a lot of fruit if you choose a fruit cake. We love to get the mango since they fill it with mango in and out. I also love that the cakes are not sickeningly sweet. Just remember, this place is cash only so don't forget to hit up the ATM before coming!

My mom & I have been buying cakes here for years. I went and bought a cake for someone and they realized that there was mold on the strawberry. I went back the next to tell them. The lady told me I should've brought the cake back. Basically no refund, but another cake. I wont be going back. 85 degree bakery on Main st it is!

LOVE LOVE LOVE !!! Cake was soooooo good !!!

5/27/2026 BUTTER…read moreCROISSANT Ate it the next day and doctored it up with melted butter, honey, and salt and toasted it in the oven for even more buttery goodness. The croissant was even flakier and the inside layers were still slightly soft and just perfect, even the day after! Deeelicious! HAM & GRUYÈRE CROISSANT (Butter croissant rolled with slices of ham and Gruyère cheese) It was good, wish there was there was more ham & gruyère inside. Nonetheless, the croissant was the star! It was flaky, buttery, crispy perfection! Having said that, get the butter croissant instead! TRIPLE PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Deliciously dark chocolatey! Flaky, buttery, crispy croissant, what more could you want? Loved it with a cup of coffee! Better when you toast in the oven! ORANGE BLOSSOM ALMOND CROISSANT (Crispy twice baked croissant filled with light and silky almond cream studded with bright candied orange pieces, and a smooth, floral orange blossom pastry cream) Flaky, crispy croissant with beautifully floral, full orange blossom flavor! This croissant was beautifully done! I haven't had a pastry that honored orange blossom like this! The almond cream comes through alongside the orange blossom, which complemented each other wonderfully! I love elevated croissants like this! It makes me happy to come to Fondry, knowing they can deliver on all their baked goods! PASSIONFRUIT CROIFFIN (Croissant x Muffin; filled with bright, tangy passionfruit curd, and tart, bouncy passionfruit jelly, topped with a very vanilla chantilly cream) They did not hold back! This was a passionfruit flavor bomb! Sooo good! They did not hold back! The croffin was crispy outside and flaky soft inside. The passionfruit curd was flowing out of the croiffin as you cut it open! Passionfruit heaven! The vanilla chantilly cream was also excellent in flavor! It was so good, I went back to get another! TOFU CLOUD CROISSANT TOAST (Crisp and sweet miso honey butter toasted croissant topped with a cloud-like sweet tofu cream) Crispy, crunchy, deliciously toasted croissant. Can taste the miso and the croissant tasted like burnt caramel. The tofu cream was fluffy and sweet, like whipped cream, but fluffier! The bottom layer tasted like almond frangipane. Such a delight to eat! I regretted not getting a second one! Beautifully done! BLACK SESAME PARISIAN FLAN Not good. Tart was crispy on the outer layers, but underside was soft. The black sesame flavor was there, but it was a muddled flavor, not a clean toasted black sesame flavor. The flan texture was a bit gummy and a bit dense too. FYI: There were some brunch items you can order in person before 11:00am. ONLINE ORDER Encouraged to order online and order in advance if you want specific pastries. I went in person to order on Wednesday morning. There was no line. CUSTOMER SERVICE Smiling and friendly, helpful and welcoming! Staff was amazing and it felt as though you were walking into your neighborhood bakery! My second visit at Fondry has been even better than the first time! PARKING As always parking is sparse on their lot. Come on a weekday if possible and before 11:00am if you want to grab a parking spot on their lot. Came on a Wednesday at 10:30am.

Overall, such a great bakery that I'd definitely recommend checking out! We tried the nikuman and curryman, and both were outstanding! The nikuman had a meat (chicken?) and veggie filling that was crunchy and slightly sweet and salty, while the curryman had a traditional Japanese curry filling that was tasty with the perfect amount of spices. They perfectly warmed both body and soul on a chilly LA morning. If I lived nearby, I'd eat these every day! We also tried the yuzu cream pan, which was also pretty epic. I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.
