Can't drive back from LA without the girls mentioning that they want to come to Amy's. And I rarely get to choose but I can't complain because they always know what to get and its always good. Huge bakery, like a Porto's, minus the food. Friendly service and greeted as you walk in. That is rare now a days so this was appreciated. All the baked goods looked delicious. They sell everything from cookies, cupcakes, cakes and tarts. I got an Easter inspired cupcake and my husband got the cheesecake cupcake. Delicious! This is a walk up and order style bakery. We've been coming to Amy's for 40+ years for their butter cookies. This year we called ahead of time to make sure they would have ones decorated for Christmas because we would be driving from Redondo Beach in traffic and the girl said they would! We arrived in the morning and the case had NO BUTTER COOKIES....bottom of case completely empty. We asked and they went to the back and brought out a tray of reject, small, misshaped cookies. Since we drove all that way and needed cookies for our holiday dessert table, we bought 2 dozen. THAT WAS OUR MISTAKE!! We should have just walked out. We ended up buying some other small cookies to make the trip worth while and ended up spending $50!!!!! I was shocked when she told me the total. Great local bakery in Montebello. I've known of Amy's since I was little since my mom just to work here when she was in high school. That's how long this bakery has been in the community! They have great pastries, cakes and cookies. My favorite is their chocolate croissant and bear claw. I recently went to Amy's to take a box of pastries to my work. I got a variety of pastries. Of course, I got my favorites and those were the first to go! The staff helped me with picking out the other. Since they are all good, you really can't go wrong. I also got a cinnamon croissant, peach pastry, lemon, apple and a few cookies for St. Patty's day. Their cakes are also very delicious. What is going on with Amy's? This has been my favorite bakery for my birthday cake for 58 yrs.. I go often enough to notice that they are going under. Not just do you see empty shelves at opening, but the workers are so rude. My birthday cake was ordered 2 weeks before pick up and was taken by a worker with great details and a photo. To my surprise the cake was totally wrong, I was so disappointed. The female worker was unbothered and could care less. Only after I complain and asked what they would do to compensate and fix the problem. That she said she would give me a refund and also give me the cake. I ended up taking it and getting another cake.Because it was so ugly.. We stopped at Amy's pastry as there wasn't much more open and the line at Porto's was around the block. Took my son on halloween for a treat...and first off the cookies are very overly priced now, but I didn't mind treating my son for the day. I ordered a cake on Sunday, May 7th through their app and did not receive a notification until Tuesday, May 10th. You can see in the image they ask for clarification on my name, the type of cake, and the date. When I went to pick up my cake that Saturday they couldn't find the slip. They took a picture of my text message thread and after a few minutes of waiting. The worker returned telling me since I did not specify a pick up time in my message the cake was not prepared. Their remedy for the situation was to have me either come at a later time to pick up a cake (that would have it's flavor be adjusted). I went ahead and purchased another cake but this is very unfortunate. If your company wants to utilize texting services you should ensure all the right questions are being asked. And the fruit selection and variety was amazing for such a small desert: Kiwi, peach, apricot, strawberry, raspberry, blueberries, blackberry. I don't know how they got it all to fit. I didn't have anything in particular in mind except was told their fruit tart is good so just got a variety of things- a slice of flourless chocolate cake ($4.50), small fruit tart ($3.95), a chocolate macaron ($2) and a lemon puff ($2.50). Amy's pastry is SO overpriced. Today I bought a 8inch Cake that's called Milk & Berries which they only have 8inch size available for same day purchase. If you want a smaller size you'd have to make a custom request which can take 1-3 days for them to make and in Montebello. Lol. This village ain't even that busy. I asked them how much would a 6inch milk & berry cake be they said $40. 6inch is 2 sizes smaller than 8inch and they are selling for $40. That's -$10 which is a total rip off. Might as well buy the 8inch and so that's what I did. I brought it home and cut into it and there is hardly any berries in the cake. More frosting than berries in the cake and not to mention, they are using a boxed cake for the sponge cake. I can tell the difference between a sponge cake made from scratch and a boxed sponge cake as I am a baker myself. They just make the frosting from scratch which is easy. This was a disappointment! If you gonna charge poor people $50 for a boxed cake at least fill that cake up with bunch of good berries. The frkn least you can do! In hollywood and other cake shops I been that are wayyy more busier and popular that sell this same milk & berries cake make their sponge cakes from scratch, sell for lower price plus they stuff the cake with so much berries! Also they sell individual slices. Screw this place! People are struggling to live and you guys are doing them dirty. read more
