My sister found Amy's Pet Grooming, and our dog Scamp was in need of a haircut. Since we changed groomers, we just wanted to find one close to our home. We drove down Antelope (from the direction of the freeway) and left onto Mariposa, and there was her shop. It was easy to find. As we walked in, there was a couch, a counter, with a grooming table, with dog cages behind her. It was a tight space, but she makes it work. I felt comfortable leaving Scamp with her because with our small quick chat, it was wonderful to hear she loves what she does. Scamp is a meduim size Terrier mix, and when we dropped him off at 2:45, she let us know he would be done at 5 pm. When we arrived at 5 p.m., Amy was doing the finishing touches on Scamp! He looked so adorable! We wanted his hair cut short but not down to his skin, and his facial features trimmed. He was so happy to see my sister & I! As she finished, I love how she talked to him as she trimmed him up. The cost of Scamp was $60. We also have Amy a tip. Scamp looked pretty amazing. He was bathed, his nails trimmed, and he smelled like watermelon, lol! Thank you, Amy! We will see you again soon! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, ive tried this place time & time again because I live on the same street so its convenient but they NEVER follow instructions, they dont know how to cut any breed except ones that are all one length, their flaky, not ever open, never on time, my dog is always choppy looking, you can see yellow/brownish spots that weren't washed, they charge me 5-10 more everytime I go, they are terrible!!! read more

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Chase has been groomed here for nearly a year--shampoo, puppy cut, nails and anal gland clean. Last time in, I couldn't get over to pick him up after their call for two hours. I gave the young woman fifty dollars and asked, will that cover it? She said no, it is $55. That's a lot more than I usually pay. In fact, it is more than I pay for MY haircut and shampoo. Did they change me for boarding for the extra two hours? Just puzzled. For reference, I have a German Shepard named Zeus, he's 6 months old and this whole grooming thing is still new, but he didn't seem to like it very much. I made an appointment a couple days ago, only requesting them to give my dog a pedicure, nothing more. They were going to charge me $10 just for the pedicure but when I went to go pick him up today, he was fully groomed, I was charged $50 and when we got home he was limping on his back legs. Idk what they did but it obviously traumatized him and now I WILL NOT be back. Zeus normally loves his butt scratched, but now he bites me if I even try to touch it. read more

I called Amy's and made an appointment for a full grooming for my dog for one week out. The person I spoke to sounded like an 11 year old girl. Didn't give me a time to be there and seemed either very new in training or a child. Fast forward to our appt. I'm there for her 9am grooming a few minutes early. I was surprised and how unkept the place is. Dirty and unorganized. The dog crates are stacked on top of each other in the middle of the room. Seems unsafe. I was the first appt of the day so I figured she would be getting groomed first. The male told me it would be about 3 &1/2 hrs. At noon I stopped in to check on my dog. I had a bad feeling in my gut the whole time and regretted going here. When I went back at noon to check on her, she had not been touched. Thank God she was fine but they told me it's a busy time of year. The female said "well we can't groom them all at once". I said I had an appointment at 9am. Anyway I took my dog and left with no service and no payment. I'm worried for every dog that goes here. I'm surprised at how many people leave their pets there. The place needs good cleaning regularly and a make over. Including safer crates. read more

Took my babies here yesterday for the first time. (2 pomeranians) I called on a friday she got me in first thing Saturday. I liked that my dogs were kept in the front with everyone instead of crated in a back room. My female pom has 3 extremely thick coats of hair and unfortunately my grooming had not been up to par. I droped them off at 11 and by 2 they were ready. I was extremely pleased when I picked them up. They both looked amazing! Their coats were exceptionally soft, and smelled wonderful. Not super impressed with this place, which is a disappointing because of all the positive reviews I read online. For the positives, the young girl who greeted me was very friendly, and although the place does seem to be on the "outdated" side (which the building seemed older), I felt like it seemed to be an active buisness. From my standpoint the staff seemed to be friendly to both customers and the animals alike. For the negatives- I'm pretty sure my dog was there for 4 1/2 hours to get a 10 minute buzz cut and nail trim. Now to be fair, this was my first time ever getting this dog groomed as she was a rescue whose hair I let grow out for months so she COULD get a nice grooming, so I didn't really know what type of cut would look best. I just told them that whatever looked good for her breed, and to keep some hair over her eyes. What she got was a very short clipper trim all over with the exception of the end of her ears and really silly looking, crooked bangs. She also had clipper marks on her coat (not to the skin, just from an uneven cut) and some freshly bleeding cuts from her moles. They did put some blood clotter on the big one as I noticed she was bleeding as I was holding her, but still, it was pretty obvious it was a rushed job. She did smell nice and have a little bandana on, but I really feel disappointed in this experience. Even if I didn't have any experience with what kind of cut would look good on her, I was not expecting such a low effort, haphazard groom. -Do note this place ONLY takes cash. I understand why as credit card companies charge a lot for small buisness owners, just keep this in mind as I did not notice the sign- read more

I met this terrific lady while shopping with one of my dogs. She was so sweet to my and my fur baby. So I took my dogs and my daughter's dog in to get their nails trimmed. I have one scared little girl that nips, so I warned her that she might want to muzzle her. The muzzle wouldn't stay on, so Amy just held her tight and soothed her while the other groomer trimmed away. Amy is the best groomer around! read more

Tina was nice to get my dog in the same day I called last minute. When I got there, Tina was the only person there that day with a TON of dogs. She was very friendly and you can tell she loves animals. My dog smelled and looked amazing! It was perfect! My only complaint- she was all alone with a ton of dogs. Definitely a little overbooked and said it would take 2-4 hours to finish my dog because they like to take their time to make sure the animal is not too stressed. That's great, but 2-4 hrs is stressful for an animal to be at the groomers. She immediately put my dog in a small kennel. The thought of my dog being in a kennel for about 2-3 hrs, in a place they don't know, until they get to him made me worry. I didn't like that it would take them so long. The place also smelled bad of cigarettes and couches were old, torn, and dirty. Overall looked a little shady and I was scared for my dog a bit.If they made the place look nicer and stopped smoking inside, it would be even better of a business. Because they were friendly and do an amazing job. Better than any top groomer out there, for sure. read more

I LOVE Amy's Pet Grooming! She is very accommodating and does a wonderful job with my boys Bentley & Charlie Brown. They look so handsome after they leave her place. She always tells me if she got any flees off of them and gives them an oatmeal bath if they need it. She does not accept credit cards so don't forget cash or checkbook! She's great. I have taken my boys to other places to find a closer groomer but I always end up taking them back to Amy because they look the cutest and cleanest after she grooms them. I really recommend her. If you call and they don't answer, keep calling or just leave a message. It take a day or so for her to call me back which is fine. Brought my dog in here after long neglecting his grooming needs - he looked like the lovechild of Bob Marley and Bigfoot. They did such a great job with him, which is a challenge because he does NOT like having any of the fur on his face touched at all. Often after a grooming his facial hair will be very "choppy" because of all of his squirming, but not after seeing Amy. I've takin my dogs there off an on over the years. I stopped taking them when one of the girls butchered my dogs haircut literally she scalp her. Maybe a 1/8 in of hair left. Anyways I got over it and took her back probably a year later thinking I'd give them another try. On a few occasions after they cut her. I'm sure it wasn't on purpose. I think there overwhelmed and not paying attention. Well anyways I took my girl in yesterday and she's very old and she's has always had a top knot. I've never cut it. Except to trim it. And I always tell them to please not cut it. Well when I went to pick her up I was in disbelief that Amy cut it completely off! Without even calling me. Just took it upon herself to make that decision! Now I realize Lucy was pretty much a hot mess. Lol but she blamed it on my dog that she wouldn't put her head up! Wtf. What dog does when your brushing there head or face. And I know for a fact Lucy always been a tad fussy only around her face. I think she didn't want to bother with it. And was over booked and the only one working. So the short cut was just to shave her top knot and her whole body. ! I cried when I left. And she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. And her reply was oh sorry it will grow back! Who says that. ? She really did t give a shit about my feelings. And she charged me 60$ plus a 10$ tip for a haircut that looked like she was put into a shredder! I've given them plenty of opportunities. And I'm done! My dog is over 16 yrs old and she probably won't live long enough for her hair to grow back into her darling too knot. It was Lucy signature. I know I sound like a Baby. But I'm more upset about how she treated me and the situation. With complete disregard. She could of picked up the phone and called me if it was really that difficult. 2nd time taking my precious long hair dachshund. Many people know this breed can be quite temperamental and he's definitely a mama's boy. he barks at every passerby and is little trusting with any stranger. I handed him right over to these groomer and friendly people with no issues I felt like he felt right at home! They even kept him all afternoon while I was at work with no problem when I got there to see him his tail was wagging and he looked adorable! They gave him a red bow to match his leash :) read more

I took my one year old shih tzu here a couple of times. Each time I was less impressed. They basically hacked my poor pup. She had beautifully long eye lashes, the last visit I got her back with one eye chopped off!! Her nails were not cut properly which caused them to grow out with long quicks. Her hair looked like it had been cut by a 3 year old! I'm still trying to get it all even from 4 months ago!! I really have nothing positive to say about this groomer except that they are cheaper than most places.... Well you get what you pay for. Save up and pay for a good groomer. You have been warned.... Oh and they don't ask for rabies vaccination or shot records. Since I am still somewhat new to the whole grooming experience I now know that this should be required! Go elsewhere! read more
