I give 100% of my trust to Amy when it comes to doing my eyebrows. I've only been here less than a handful of times, but I always leave her place feeling satisfied w/ my brows. I screwed up shaping one of my brows one time and came to Amy, and she managed to fix it up and mirror the shape of my better-looking brow. Amy is a very nice and approachable lady. Just tell her exactly what you want and she will deliver! FYI, she threads (or at least the times I've been there) rather than waxes brows. Pricing is also decent (~$20ish, I think). I found Amy on one of the yelp talk threads where a bunch of us were complaining about the costs of beauty services, lack of beauty reviews, and mourning our old (Bay Area) stand-bys. Tears aside, I have been satisfied going to Amy. I've found her spa salon to be warm, intimate, and completely unpretentious. Perhaps most importantly, she has realistic prices AND the place still smells spa-ish. I've gone to her for wax services. She also seems to be one of the few folks in SB (aside from Spa Concepts) that offers threading services. I've seen both men and women exit this place with freshly threaded brows. MISC: located just passed the Trader Joe's - don't blink, you'll miss it. She can usually see people before her 10am opening. And she takes personal checks. Amy is awesome! I was tired of my other waxing lady... I'd gotten my eyebrows threaded by Amy before and realized that she'd probably do a great brazilian too... And she did! Amy is extremely patient, friendly and, well, AMAZING! She really does a great job on whatever you're there for. She consults with you about what you want and does a very thorough job (using different types of wax, going over the areas multiple times, etc). You can tell she cares about how you'll feel when you leave her place. Her prices are great and she gives student discounts! $12 for eyebrow threading, $25 for a full brazilian, and $5 for upper lip threading! Like other reviews say, her place is tough to find if you've never been before... it's opposite Trader Joe's, in a small building in between Santa Barbara Shade & Screen Co. and Wagner Chiropractic. I am so glad that I read the below review. Without it, I wouldn't have found the gem that is Amy's Skin care! :P So I called her this afternoon and she fit me in at 5:15 for an eyebrow threading. I expected she would be more difficult to schedule, but she wasn't. Finding her place was tough, as I'm not familiar with De La Vina street. Anyways, she took me back into her room and first evaluated by eyebrows. I love that. You know why? Because the only other person in town who threads eyebrows (Dee at Spa Concepts) spends zero time evaluating my eyebrows, and talking to me about the shape I want. Granted, Dee is super fast (usually I'm in and out within 5 minutes), but Amy is methodological, takes her time, and the results show this. :) I am very happy with my eyebrow shape. I plan to keep going back to Amy. P.S. Her cost for threading is $20 (same as Dee), and she accepts credit cards. Now, go give her a try! read more

I was able to get an appt w/ Amy relatively quickly. I've driven past her location, so I was able to find it ok. She takes longer than the woman at Spa Concepts, Dee. So I was getting a little worried about what she was doing -- was she making them too thin?? She definitely takes longer, but she is very meticulous and I thought her pricing was fair. Slightly more expensive than the Bay Area, but then again, I think there are only two women in town who thread! so the market economy prevails. I walked out, examined my brows again and I love them! She was also able to get the pesky little hairs. Perfect. She took slightly longer than what I am used to, but she was thorough. $20 for eyebrows. Dee at Spa Concepts wouldn't accept a tip which I thought was sweet but I tipped Amy. read more

I visited Amy today for the first time and I was absolutely impressed. She was quick and shaped my brows better for my face than anyone who's ever done my brows. She asked me how I wanted them done and they looked better than I imagined they would. I asked for shaped brows that have a slight arch and still on the thick side and she did exactly that. She took her time and made my brows beautiful. She paid more attention to the shape than anyone else. Even with all of that I was in and out in under 10 minutes. It cost a little more than I usually pay but they look much better than I've ever had them before. I'd recommend making an appointment since Amy's place only has one parking space and she's the only one I believe doing services there so I don't think walk ins are possible. I really had high hopes considering a nearly perfect rating with Amy for my brows, but I can literally still feel half of my eyebrow follicles tingling and crying from being threaded off... I took 2-4 years growing them out to a healthy size and shape after struggling with extremely sparse and thin brows forever... I knew that it needed cleaning up and a little bit of shaping and thought I could trust her!! I was in shock when she showed me the mirror... 1/2 to 2/3 of my original size and shape was taken off in 5 minutes! My experience was quite bad and disappointing. I wish there had been more communication in general from her about what she was doing and any little small conversation in general as an introduction. As a first time client she was never like "hi I'm Amy welcome..." She was running behind schedule and maybe that prompted her to rush and not talk, but I literally only heard a few mumbles about an arch and I was like I'll trust you? It's never been this thin in my entire life!! Now I'm stuck with these puny eyebrows that make me look extra mean and aren't even proportional to the rest of my face... Even trying to fill it in with various products to make it seem thicker will look funny since there's no hair! And another 2+ years of growing... :( She's very soft spoken and only asked if I was a student after and that was the extent of the small talk... I was so in shock that my brows had been but butchered! She could have slowly shown me what she was doing on one eyebrow first to see if I had Iiked it before taking off more... And to make it worse it's uneven :(. I started to break out a bit too where she had threaded. Be sure to make clear your expectations of what you want or ask her to slowly show you what she's doing... Or else be extremely upset and lose your precious brows like me read more

Very small and cozy business. Amy is very soft spoken and extremely relaxing. I came in for a Brazilian wax and the result was way beyond perfect. She took her time but she did a really amazing job with keeping this wax pain-free (used to waxing). She waxed off the hair in small sections, so i believe that was the cause for having a pain-free experience. She was so sweet and cute saying "sorry" on the sensitive areas she waxed but like i said, i am very used to the pain/wax. I LOVE Amy! I used to go to her all the time when I was in Santa Barbara and Oxnard. I usually had either my eye brows done or my whole face. She does take a long time but that is because she does a really good job. I went to a threading place in San Jose and they were not as good....they actually cut my eye lid with the thread which I have never experienced with Amy. I've had my eyebrows done for years, but I can say that Amy is the only one who consistently does a great job on my eyebrows.
