My go to brow threading place! Sonia is always super sweet and does a great job every time!

I have to say- I am a TOUGH critic... Virgo gal who notices everything. That said- am fair. What this place lacks in frills and decor, it makes up for with reasonable rates, skilled brow specialists, and fast professional service. I used to love getting my eyebrows done by Pretti, who was phenomenally skilled. I have been seeing her for about 5 years and she has really respected my preferences and worked well to build up my thin brows! I would love to find out where she went because I would love to keep employing her for my brows! But she no longer works there so I see a person named Deepa instead. Deepa is great and is following the footsteps of Pretti as a skilled professional! The rates went up slightly by $5 from 10 to $15, which is understandable given the time and place! Love this place and highly recommend for everyone who wants to give there brows a clean shape.

I love that they do free brows on your birthday with a valid ID as well!

Writing a review for Soniya since all the yelp reviews are positive for her so you think you can be safe by going to her. NOPE. I went to her a few times and she shapes the eyebrows well. I always tell her not to thread the start of my eyebrows. This time i told her too late and she completely f*** up my eyebrows. My eyebrows are now way too spread out. I am so upset. It will be very hard growing this out. Will not be returning!!!! read more

I specifically asked the girl to not take too much off of my inner brows and she goes on to do exactly what I told her not to do, taking too much off of my right brow. It was very rushed. Notice how there are still hairs that weren't removed from my unibrow. When I brought this to her attention she goes on to say "no your hairs are light right there". No ho, they're gone. read more

Amira is great but the two Indian ladies who have been there for a while have a weird energy they project. They will not greet me but white customers get an effusive welcome and treatment. Seriously uncool. The management should train them better. read more

I've been getting my brows, lip and chin done here for several years and love it. Sonia and all of the women do a fine job. Not only affordable prices, but the convenient hours, reliable service and kind staff are all a welcome breath of fresh air in this otherwise unaffordable town. Wonderful service! The workers are so nice and listen to what you want and how you want it. I recently moved and got my eyebrows done some place else and the results were not nearly as good. I now wait to be back to get my eyebrows done here because they do it AMAZING! 100% recommend! The workers are also very gentle so it does not hurt very much and are pretty quick! read more

Pretty hurts... Beyoncé was on to something! Utilizing the practice of threading to achieve perfectly shaped eyebrows without random hairs is part of an uncomfort able beautification process. After multiple attempts of having my brows waxed at various spas and as a result having my skin break out horribly, I went to the next option: threading. I have been a regular at Layla for the last year and a half where it costs $10 (+tip -- these gals work hard using their hands and teeth to thread all day long...) to have my eyebrows threaded. I use to always see Sheila who was super sweet, very skilled and talkative but has since left. Their staff turnover appears to be high with a new, unfamiliar gal working there every month or so that I visit. On two occasions, I have had the horrors of skin tears from them pulling the skin with the hair follicles. It is painful and feels like sunburn or a sliver lodged in a sensitive part of your finger. Unfortunately it happened this past week again (see photo). Yet, pretty hurts and decide to take the risk. When you enter, you sign up on a sheet to wait in line for your turn. However, I will usually point to a specific gal to do my brows that takes her time, is thorough and hence does not cause skin tears. Since it is hit or miss, and the wait varies drastically from 5 minutes to half an hour, I give Layla a solid 3-star rating. I am unfamiliar with another place in town that offers threading at such a reasonable cost. Plus, I enjoy seeing other men have the same service done almost every time I visit so I don't feel outnumbered. They too leave with watery eyes. :X Be sure the gal offers you a tissue and wipes your brows with witch hazel AND aloe vera afterward to help ease the discomfort. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! I've been coming to Layla's and getting my eyebrows threaded by Preeti religiously going on two years now and I live in San Diego. The gals are amazing, their customer service and attention to detail is superb and the store is nice and clean. My eyebrows are a bit difficult to work on given that they both grow completely different in addition to one being round and the other arched. Preeti does a phenomenal with them. She takes her time to insure they always come out perfectly even. In the almost two years that I have been going to her I have never left disappointed, on the contrary; I always leave there looking and feeling even more beautiful. One of the many reasons I love to tip her way more than what my eyebrows cost, she is totally worth every dollar spent. For years I struggled with my eyebrows, growth, shape, and symmetrically. I cannot be more grateful for Preeti. She truly does a great job/a true artist. My eyebrows even look great grown out. I totally recommend Layla's especially her (Preeti). I went to school in Santa Barbara and all my friends from college get their eyebrows threaded by her, and her only; no matter the gender. We'll all know that your eyebrow tech can either make your day or completely ruin your month.. Lol.. Thank you Preeti, (You Rock!) forever grateful of you and your art. read more

Honestly not worth the money. Don't get me wrong, they don't always do a bad job (pretty sure Sonya is the only one who knows what she's doing) but I think it's worse that whoever owns the place doesn't seem to care about providing consistent quality. I guess they let you pass up on paying after they mess you up (which is probably the bare minimum when it comes to these kinds of services) but I'm pretty sure many of us who get our eyebrows done HATE to see it happen--my eyebrows take some time to grow in yk? Like I can tell the girl doing my brows clearly doesn't know what she's doing--do I really need to scream for help? I have no doubt the people who drop five stars have a regular worker they like to see, but if it's your first time or you don't want to wait for specific workers, seriously pass this place up. They seriously need a vibe check. read more

Terrible experience. They literally made my eyebrows so uneven, there is now a gap on my left eyebrow and they are very uneven. I am very disappointed with not only the performance but the unwelcoming and rude service. They do not care for their customers and do such a half a*s job. I had to go home and try to fix what they messed up. Will never come back, they did not even provide a welcoming environment or thank me for being a paying customer as I left. read more

Ever since Pretti left it's one disappointing, expensive trip after the other. The girls are not trained enough to do eyebrows and they leave hair is places where it seems like common sense would be to take off. And trying to communicate with them is very hard. I think I'll find elsewhere to go to, unfortunately. read more

I come to Layla Threading because there are not that many places that offer threading around the Santa Barbara/Goleta area. They usually don't have too long wait so I can get in and out which is always a bonus. There was only one time in the past that I had to wait an hour. That was too long and I should have went back at another time. Yet they do have a sign in sheet so you know your place in line. All of the ladies I have had do my eyebrows do a good job. My eyebrows are a little more difficult to thread because they are blonde and can be difficult to see depending on the angle. The lady I had this time was very caring and asked me a few times how I was doing which was very sweet of her. I don't remember her name but she did a great job and I am happy with the way my eyebrows look. They also offer aloe vera or witch hazel on a cotton ball to soothe your skin afterwards. Perhaps they should consider getting the Yelp Waitlist feature ;). read more

I hate going to Michelle but I was in a rush and she was the only one available. Awful. Horrendous. She needs to be fired. On multiple occasions she's taken skin off/given me cuts and every time I get threaded by her, I get bumps all over my face and this time, I went in to have my perfectly thick eyebrows cleaned up (mind you just a few grown out hairs) -- I came up with pencil thin eyebrows and the front portion of one of my eyebrows missing. I am BEYOND upset and furious. Tipped her because I didn't notice until I came home (again, I was in a rush). Wish I could get my money back. read more

really half assed to be honest. I've gone in so manh times hoping for better. I asked for thinner and to keep my arches and I had to go home a pluck myself because I kept asking for a shape and to thin out my thick brows. It's painful and slower than most threading places I've been to. Also, I leave regularly with cuts below my browline from harsh threading which I haven't experienced anywhere else. I've been going to Layla's for almost a decade now. I've been coming to get my eyebrows and upper lip done. I have had many of the ladies do my threading and my absolute favorite is Sonia. She is super friendly and careful with my face. Sonia has NEVER given me a skin tear (given me a scab) I have to say those are so irritating because you have to wait for your face to heal. Highly recommend Sonia for any threading services you seek. read more

I feel that one of the most important things with being a threading place that handles your eyebrows which are right across your face for everyone to see is CONSISTENCY. I usually go in and just ask for a clean up and have had no problems. I get plenty of compliments on my eyebrows. I went in today and there was a new girl (not sure of her name, not one of the regular people I've seen there before). I asked for my usual cleanup and she not only left my eyebrows incredibly uneven, but also VERY thin and highly shortened. I was not happy at all. When I paid and left she still asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. It's taken me a while to grow out my eyebrows and have them in the shape I wanted and now I have to deal with this weird shape and short length until I can grow them out again. I have been a customer for several years and now I am not sure that I will be going back. read more

I just walked in not that long ago and as soon as I walked in they said they were closed with attitude but on Yelp it said they closed an hour after I got there but i was respectful about it so I was walking out and as soon as I walked out they slammed door shut and I found it pretty rude that as soon as I stepped out they did that. I was going to let it slide but that was way out of hand. read more

Positive experience during a walk-in appointment I had a few days ago. I didn't know about this place but just happened to see it after stopping at Nordstrom's. If you don't have an appointment they ask you to put your name down, along with what you need done, and the attendant you prefer. Since I had never been I didn't make a preference, so they took me as soon as someone was available. For my brows and upper lip it was $16 (not including tip). I'm overall pleased with my experience and wish I would've gotten my threaders name. Will definitely come back. read more

I've been going to laylas threading in Santa Barbara for years! I can honestly say I recommend those who react bad to wax to thread. If you end up at laylas ask for SONIA(: she is super nice, social, and welcoming to her costumers. she's been my girl for 2 years now and I can honestly say she has left my eyebrows LOOKING AMAZING!!!!!! Shes always very gentle when she is threading and ALWAYS makes sure I'm okay or will ask me if I need a break.... If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be going to Laylas because other women have left my eyes short or uneven! So remember to ask for SONIA! SHE WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT(: read more

One of the best threading experiences I have ever had. I walked in and was seated in and was seated within 2 minutes. The price for the eyebrow threading was also very cheap ($10) and the whole thing was finished in 10 minutes. Quick, great service at a great price! Will be back next time I'm in town. read more

I came back a few days later to have my eyebrows threaded. Roman did a great job assessing them as one of my brows had been over threaded at another salon in Santa Barbara (in the mall). She shaped my brows while leaving as much fullness as possible, and allowing for my one eyebrow to grow back in. She was quick and gentle; she told me she has been threading for two years after taking a course in India. She charges $15 for brows, which is less than what I have seen at other places in Santa Barbara, although a few dollars more than the place that made my eyebrows too thin; however, I would prefer to pay a little more for someone with experience and who actually takes the time to make sure my brows look nice and symmetrical.

Hello, I have been getting my face threaded at the place in Paseo Nuevo Mall for over three years now. I have tried different threaders and my favorite is by far, Preeti. I always wait to have Preeti do my face because she is the best. She is worth the wait. She is thorough and listens to what I say. My eyebrows are superb, just like I like them. My skin is so mooth. I look forward to seeing Preeti about every 10 days. She is very experienced and she does not miss any spots. She is kind and always pleasant. Preeti takes an interest in who I am. Soniya is wonderful I went in kinda nervous about getting my upper lip threaded but she took to make sure I was comfortable and asked if I needed any breaks. Super accommodating and sweet but extremely professional and thorough I ended up doing a full face threading ! Would recommend her if it's your first time for sure!
