Having just redone our entire house and done a lot of outdoor work as well, I've met with no fewer than 30 different contractors in the last few years. Most were less than stellar to put it mildly, but Adrian was easily the most professional, genuine and knowledgable I met with. He was understanding, thorough, kind and honestly a joy to work with. I had absolute trust in everything he suggested and all the work he performed. He made some suggestions along the way that I would never have though of on my own and the work was performed exactly as discussed. He suggested cabling our tree that has two trunks in order to give it more support and minimize the chances of it ever falling. I didn't even know that was an option so I feel much more at ease now knowing our yard is safe for my daughter and our dog. He and his employees left our yard and driveway cleaner than they were before the work began. After the first day of work, you honestly wouldn't have been able to tell trees had been cut down or branches had been ground up, the job site was that clean. He even suggested a tree swing for our daughter as she grows older and installed the roping to make it happen. The branches on our trees are 20-30 feet up so there would have been no way for me to do it on my own, so I appreciated that immensely. I will be saving his number for any future work. I expected his quote to be higher than other companies because they don't use heavy equipment (which can damage your property/driveway) but it was actually less than other tree companies I met with. I hired Adrian and the crew for two days of pruning involving: shrubs and foundation plants, 2 crabapples, a Japanese maple, a large hemlock hedge, pruning plants hanging over on street, and removing a cherry tree. Adrian really knows his trees. He came out to our place this spring to prune a large plum tree that had been neglected for years before we bought our place. There were half-broken branches from previous hurricanes, dead limbs, and otherwise unsightly sprouts that made the tree look like a mess. In just a few hours, he had it looking great. He knew just where to prune to accentuate the tree's natural form and reveal glimpses of the trunk. A week later, the tree blossomed and looked amazing. It was almost like an enormous bonsai. He was very courteous and knowledgable and took the time to talk through the options for a tree that had grown out of a concrete wall and to answer my many questions. We went ahead with tree removal, and when I asked if he could cut a few seats from the trunk, he was very happy to accommodate. Instead of chipping the entire trunk, his crew cut a few seats and moved them into our garden, free of charge! I cannot say enough about Adrian and his team at Artist's Touch. They have done a fantastic job for me. First of all, Adrian couldn't be nicer and goes out of his way to meet up with me, despite the very challenging work schedule I have. What incredible work! We asked Adrian and his team to help prune the ten dogwoods that line our driveway. The trees are probably close to 40 years old, so having someone who understands how they grow and the risks to these long limbed trees is critical. Adrian and his team spent a whole day delicately pruning off dead branches, adding cables to support established branches and adding screws and bolts to cracked but savable branches. They all worked very hard, were extremely polite and friendly and really seemed to love what they do (they also cleaned up everything). Adrian and his crew did an outstanding job pruning our very old magnolia tree. They were very friendly and happily answered all my questions. The tree had not been pruned for about nine years and needed a lot of work to look like a healthy, shaped tree again! The men worked diligently from early morning to late afternoon. Adrian stopped by periodically to check on the progress and assess the shaping of the tree. He had an ongoing dialog with me and asked for feedback. Adrian really loves working with trees, and it shows. His men are well trained and pruned meticulously. This was NO hack job, as offered by many of these tree companies. We took Adrian's advice and had the two large tree trunks wired together so they would not split apart. The clean up was thorough. They even pruned my lilac bushes for no extra cost! AMAZING experience! Can't recommend this company highly enough! After 6+ years of neglecting our trees, I got a bunch of quotes for work needed. Even at the quotes stage, Adrian stood out - in the way he explained things to me, in the ideas he came up with, in his approach to the concerns I had, in his questions *to me*, and just all around. Their quote was very competitive, and we decided to go with them. We are *so* happy we did! Adrian himself came for the job, rather than just send out a team. They worked really hard, and did a *beautiful* job, even taking the time to find a great spot for hanging a tree swing, and going above and beyond by attaching the ACTUAL swing and a hook on the tree for when not in use, not just setting up the rope! The small ones (dogwood, Japanese Maple) are incredibly decorative and healthy after pruning, and the large ones are attractive and safe (no dangerous dead or overhanging branches). I made a yelp account specifically to review this company. My house is engulfed by tall spruce, oak, and pines trees, with branches spreading right over our house and driveway. I didn't care to take care of any of them until we had one dead branch fall onto our yard, the size of a pickup truck. I have been calling around to different local companies to get quotes on tree cabling, pruning, thinning, etc. Some came with a salesman attitude, sounding like they were trying to pawn me a car rather than just cutting down some branches. I got quotes ranging from $7000 to $10000, with most of the companies just insisting that I cut down most of my valuable and beautiful trees, driving up the cost. When An Artist's Touch Tree and Shrub came out to take a look, Adrian was professional, honest, and most importantly, he cared about the trees on my property like they were his own. His company climbs trees to service them, so he told me up front that hiring a company with a crane would be more cost efficient, but even still, Adrian took the time to walk through my property and gave me all the information I needed without trying to sell me anything. I think he was the fifth guy I had out here, but the first honest one. I even offered to hire him for smaller ornamental tree work in my backyard as I felt bad for having him come all this way, but he said it would be more cost efficient to hire one company for all our needs.
