The owner, Zach, is thorough, polite and easy to work with. He has a tremendous knowledge of different trees and quietly guides you to just the right amount of pruning to leave your trees healthy and safe. You quickly realize that Zach loves his work - and loves trees. Zach & his crew constantly check back with you to see if everything is to your satisfaction. And it is. Dangerous limbs and over-crowding trees disappear quickly, with no injury to fences, house, or healthy trees. I felt like the person on the junk removal commercial who just points at the problem, and then - poof - the problem is gone! The crew is professional in climbing, careful in cutting, and cautious in slowly lowering the cut limbs. We had talked to Zak and his team about a month ago, as we were looking at doing some tree trimming and possibly removal, but were not in a rush. Zak was one of the few arborists around who actually answered our call, and came out quickly to give us an estimate. Wish we had used them right away, because... A few weeks later, a tree that we didn't even know was a problem came down during a microburst here in Arlington. We called Zak and he quickly came back out to see the damage, and revise the estimate (as we were now looking to completely remove a couple trees that looked at risk of falling). 48 hours later Zak and team were at our house, introducing us to the team, scaling our trees (they are "free climbers," so they don't use a bucket truck), and making quick work of the entire job (three trees removed, and one large oak tree trimmed). When I was looking for tree service I called several tree companies. Either they didn't return my call or couldn't do the job. Some said they did not work in my town even when they were located only 2 towns away??? I called Northern Tree Service and Zak came over that evening to discuss the job. He provided us with a quote, documentation of the work they were going to perform, provided his insurance policy and fit us into his schedule. It was a fairly large job with multiple trees needing pruning and several trees had to be taken down and removed. They also removed a lot of scrub brush. They did a great job with the yard. There's more sunlight and it's more open. Zak and Angel, the foreman, addressed any questions I had. Zak has a hard working crew with many years of experience. We had a variety of tree issues needing attention, from pruning to removal, including a huge old oak in our back yard that was leaning over our roof. A couple of quotes from services with cranes were pretty steep, mostly due to the logistics of clearing the wires overhead. But Zak from Northern Boston told me they climb the trees and don't use cranes or bucket trucks, and he gave me very competitive price. The crew showed up in less than a week and did a great job. They were very pleasant to interact with, and had no problem adding in little extra tasks that became apparent only as the work progressed. But here is the best part: they did a great clean-up, including cutting up the oak trunk into logs and neatly stacking them in the corner of our yard. After the recent Nor'easter storm, We had a large branch that split off of our tree and was causing damage to our neighbors fence. We put out a bid request on Yelp and Northern Boston Tree Services responded immediately. We needed someone to come out that day because another storm was coming that night. They came by our property and gave us a very fair estimate and were able to remove the branch immediately. They did a great job, and were able to remove the large branch without damaging the neighbors fence. They also hauled the branch away, along with another large branch that had been sitting on our property for months. The owner of the company was very polite and nice, and also offered to chop up the branch for us for fire wood. We contacted Zac A. from Northern Tree Service on a Saturday morning, he was out that afternoon to quote the project and started the same day. It was a rather large job, 5 larger trees to be dropped and 4 to be trimmed. The crew of 3 worked on the project, steadily under Zac's supervision until it was completed. Thy carried most of the logs and branches to their chipper, and cleaned it all up..looks great! They are not happy until your happy with their work. After calling several other local tree companies and getting no return calls and really high over the phone estimates, my husband and I were so lucky to find Zak and Northern Boston Tree. Thank goodness we did! As relatively new home owners, we are still learning about the trees along our property. Zak is a certified arborist who was able to provide in-depth education about our trees and how we can keep them healthy for the winter ahead. We had a large branch that had broken off a large Norwegian Maple and had become lodged in the tree overhanging our kids' swing set. Because of the location of the tree, dealing with the branch with a bucket truck was not an option. After getting the run-around from a few other tree services, I contacted NBTS. Zak was out to the house that very day for a consult. They started and completed the job the next day, which consisted of removing a dead plum tree, scaling the maple to remove the dead branch and trim the tree and cleaning up the work area. Zak and his crew were FANTASTIC! Zak shared his knowledge of servicing trees so I could understand the methodology he used tending to trees. He absolutely cares about the environment but your safety as well. In all I had five very large trees (2 oak, 3 pine) pruned without having heavy equipment on my lawn. Watching his tree climbers was astonishing as they worked their way up and down efficiently. I would have thought I had a landscaping crew in the way they cleaned up my yard and removed limbs I had previously cut myself. Working with Zak and his team at NBTS was a delight. He was very easy to communicate with, did what he said he was going to do, and got the (big!) job done very quickly. Zak and his crew were prompt, polite, professional, and know their business very well! It was amazing watching them climb 16 of our very tall, winter storm damaged evergreen and deciduous trees. All pruning and chipping and cleanup was completed only 2 days after getting an estimate. Lastly, they finished up all of remaining spring cleaning of the lawn and beds that had lots of twigs and branches. So, we got back a weekend thanks to them. Called Zak shortly after a recent batch of Nor-easter storms to have him prune about 15 mature trees in my yard and clear out one that came down during a storm. He was there quoting the work within a couple hours and his team started the job that day. Came back to finish up a few days later, and was even willing to comeback the following day to prune a little extra that I had asked about. Zak who is the manager is great. We had work done a month before the recent major snow storm which caused a large branch to split off out tree in the backyard damaging our deck and garage. I called Zak and he and his workers came the same day. Initially we had put out a bid on Home Advisor and he called very promptly. Zak and his crew did an awesome job on my trees. They were trimmed and crowned to last another 6 years. The trees look beautiful and healthy with plenty of air flow and expect plenty of light when they bloom. They cut and piled the logs i requested left behind and raked and swept up the area like they were never here. Zach came out the same day we called for a quote and had his crew there later that day to start bringing equipment over. They got to work the next work day and did a great job taking down 4 trees and pruning 8. They did a wonderful job with clean-up too. They were reasonably priced, and I was impressed with the work.
