We were extremely clear and detailed in our communication leading up to the big day. We exchanged over 20 messages to make sure they understood exactly what we wanted. We provided a YouTube video of a specific mix of two songs and even specified at what tempo they should play, with additional notes on where to add emphasis. Well when the day came, it was like all that we talked about what was thrown out the window. They played a basic version of the song instead of the custom mix we had agreed on. To make matters worse, they made noticeable mistakes while playing, which was incredibly disheartening during such a special moment. All in all, the experience left us worse than disappointed. Brides, if you care at all about the moment that you walk down the aisle and all its importance, please do NOT hire An Elegant Touch of Strings. They ruined mine - a moment that meant so much to me, one I had envisioned since I was a little girl and one I will never get a do over for. Things will not go exactly as planned at your wedding, but this is a moment that you want right and should be relatively easy to ensure goes as planned. I will never forget standing outside my ceremony venue with my father waiting for our entrance when I heard them play my song (a song that was so deliberately chosen for my entrance with my father). Despite having filled out all their paperwork and clearly outlining who in the wedding party would be entering and in what order, they played my entrance song when my dog came down the aisle. You read that right. They played the song clearly outlined as the entrance for the bride for my dog. After a bit, they realized their mistake, stopped abruptly and went back to the plan that was so clearly outlined and discussed weeks before the event. I could not believe it. Neither could guests. After the wedding, a few of my friends shared that on top of this epic mistake, they had many starts and stops during the seating of the guests. One of my friends felt awful confessing "the strings seemed very confused." After the wedding I reached out to them about this. To make matters worse, I received an unbelievably rude response, refusing to take accountability for their mistake. Their response was that they thought the person walking my dog down the aisle was me because she was wearing a white dress. To be clear, she was wearing a blush dress and had a dog on a leash. I was wearing a giant white ballgown and had my father on my arm. An Elegant Touch of Strings ruined one of the most anticipated and important moments of my wedding - a moment that I can never redo - and refused to take accountability for it. They were an epic mistake I hope no future brides makes. read more

I would think 3 songs is not difficult to keep track of, especially since we chose a popular choice. Our chosen song would have been much more energetic and livelier than what was played. My sister hired ETS for her wedding in 2018 and had a great experience, so I hired them to play ceremony and cocktail hour music for my own wedding (originally planned for 2020). I wanted to walk down the aisle to a song that wasn't on their list, so Sherry specially arranged the song for me! When we had to change venues and postpone our wedding to 2021 due to COVID, Sherry was flexible and understanding! She was also extremely helpful and responsive via email. We got married at the Palm Event Center in September 2016. One of the preferred vendors for music is An Elegant Touch of Strings. We worked with Sherry approximately a year out from the wedding date. She was wonderful to work with. We had our ideas of various songs we were interested in playing during our wedding and Sherry responded quickly whether they played the songs on our list. We were pleasantly surprised that they played most of them! Before the ceremony, we selected classical music for the quartet to play. The song selection was great and it really set the mood for our guests as they entered and sat down. For our ceremony, we played the Jurassic Park theme (my favorite movie) and Pachelbel Canon in D for the bride's processional. For our recessional song, we played "Best Day of My Life" by the American Authors. All three songs were perfect and made the ceremony very beautiful. The quartet played during the cocktail hour on the patio - they played mostly contemporary music (Coldplay, U2). All of the guests said that the music was beautiful. Overall, we were so glad we had An Elegant Touch of Strings as our quartet for our wedding. They are reasonably priced and really made the event elegant. read more

Our wedding ceremony was outside in a garden so we wanted to have live music for that portion instead of a DJ. I researched several string performers before deciding on An Elegant Touch of Strings. I communicated with Sherry during the whole process through email. She was quick to respond and made me feel confident that they would be a great fit for our wedding ceremony/cocktail hour. Since my husband and I were planning the wedding ourselves, we really didn't have anyone to meet with the performers before we began the ceremony. However, they played each song perfectly and played the songs that we had prearranged for them to play with smooth transitions to the next song. After the ceremony, we had them play during the cocktail hour in another area of the venue. They were prompt about getting set-up and began playing right away. She got back to me within 24 hours for each of my inquiries. She offers a wide range of music and was able to help me hone down crowd favorites for each portion of the ceremony. My only feedback would be to tighten communication around who is expected to be performing on the day of your wedding. On the day of I was a bit surprised to learn that Sherry wasn't attending and had slight concern around the musicians present and whether they had been looped in on all the details I had discussed with Sherry. Although the planning period went very well, the actual execution on the day of my mother's memorial service was flawed. Two musicians--a violinist and a cellist--were supposed to play for the 15 minutes while guests waited for the ceremony to begin. I expected that musicians would arrive at least 15 minutes early to set up. The temple is in a residential area yet the musicians got lost and arrived five minutes late. Even if they had set up, they would have played for about 8 minutes. Because of the solemnity of the occasion, we did not want them walking up the aisle and setting up late because most of us were in contemplation and did not want the distraction. We all can get lost and we all can be late but most of us would call to alert those of us waiting about the circumstances. No call ever came. The most disappointing perhaps was the thoroughly defensive and unapologetic response from the violinist and from the owner of this company when I called later to let her know. For God's sake: this was a memorial service for which we paid 600.00 only to have the musicians get lost, arrive late, and refuse to own up to their screw-up. Never have I experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. read more

I wanted to have live music as I walked down the aisle, but I was scared off by the high prices many musicians charge. I was thinking of just using prerecorded music, but then I learned that due to noise laws my venue couldn't allow amplified music outdoors. With some searching, I found this group which was more affordable and hired a string trio for 2 hours. I was a bit nervous about how it would turn out- since you don't get to hear the music ahead of time and I wans't sure how the timing with the processional would work out. My fears were for nothing as everything worked out to plan. I was extremely happy with all aspects of their service. Sherry and Elegant Touch of Strings (ETOS) did a great job at our recent March City Hall wedding. My wife has very specific taste in classical music and didn't want to have anything too typical played during the ceremony. Instead, she worked with Sherry and ETOS's musical repertoire to create a beautiful musical accompaniment to our wedding ceremony. During the cocktail hour ETOS played a range of more contemporary pieces (including the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and Coldplay) and provided the perfect musical pairing to our passed appetizers and adult beverages. We struggled with whether we should go with a quartet or trio, and we decided to go with the trio for economic reasons (it's a bit cheaper). We were very happy with the trio, though my wife commented that she thought a quartet would have given it a bit of something extra (to be specific, a more rounded sound). I thought the sound was perfectly appropriate and sufficiently impressive. We were very happy we went with ETOS and think they did a fantastic job at our wedding. read more

We just celebrated the marriage of my daughter at Mountain Terrace in Woodside. Sherry provided a string quartet for the event and they did a fabulous job!
