So they have Bottomless Guinness on Sundays. Need I say more? Yes! This place is great and a must go if you're visiting Galway and looking for a fun night out. They have live music and a DJ. They have a covered outdoor garden which is great for watching sports. Then inside they have a more traditional style pub. The bartenders are cool. I think they poor one of the best Guinness in Galway. It's sooo good. They have good whiskey and gin selections. But the best part is the crowd. There are always hen parties here. There is always dancing. The live music is really great. And the security team is great too. They take their jobs seriously but are still friendly.

Gord and I had supper Friday evening at An Púcán. There was a band playing in the front of the restaurant, which seemed to have more personality. We sat in the back which was a large room with a bunch of tables and chairs. Gord had traditional ham and cabbage, which he said was really good, and I had pan-fried chicken and sweet gravy, which was just okay.

A nice spot across from our hotel that we hit for lunch on our last day. Son got the burger l which he liked. Daughter got tuna's good flavor but needed a bit of something added, onion or tomato? Wife had the chicken sandwich and liked it. I had the bangers and mash and it was spot on. Just what I would expect from an Irish pub. The service was friendly and quick, very attentive. I'm guessing this place is a blast at night, live music and an outdoor garden. It's much larger than the front presents, it goes back a ways.

Great bar with live music if you're looking for a more relaxed place to spend the evening. Lists of whiskey options.

Cute spot. Came here to check out the "outdoor" beer garden. I got here at a quiet time but within 20 mins the whole spot filled up with rugby watchers. Many tables to sit outside and inside. You order at the bar and bring your drink to your table The restrooms are inside. Place was decently maintained.

Went here for a pint and live music. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and overall a great time. Pints of Guinness were poured perfectly and our glasses never became empty. We had a steak sandwich and mussels with chips. Both plates were good and the mussels were very fresh. Live music all night long and it made the atmosphere wonderful.

This was the place to be on a holiday weekend! We walked in at dinner time and the place was mobbed. In the front area with the main bar there was a one man band playing old American folk music like John Denver. Looking for a table we walked through to the back bar, and into the back beer garden. Lots of tables were reserved, and we could tell it was the "in" spot for bachelorette parties. Fortunately, we found a table of guys getting up and snagged their table. A friendly waitress came right over to clear and wipe the table, and give us menus. My friend ordered mussels, and it was a heaping bowl of tiny, tasty mussels. I was craving wings, and the Jameson Black Barrel BBQ sauce they were slathered in was delicious. Served with a Guinness, it was exactly what I was looking for. Dessert was an slightly warm apple tart that was just okay - it wasn't homemade, and it was kind of bland, even with ice cream and whipped cream. This was a fun local's bar that was very loud, but really had a great vibe.

I had the Eat'N mess dessert which was delicious and fresh! There was fresh blueberries, orange marscapone, cream, biscuits, and much more. This is an everything but the kitchen sink style dessert. My server was pleasant and I enjoyed talked about whiskey with him. They have a large whiskey selection. They were playing the soccer game on the TV so there was many people there to watch the game. Service was quick and friendly and the prices were reasonable. This was a great stop on the Galway Whiskey Trail!

This was SUCH a cool pub. Go straight to the back to the outdoor area and you will be amazed. When visiting Ireland we were continuously blown away by how each small pub storefront hid a maze of bar, restaurant, and outdoor seating. There are many young locals here, mostly students enjoying time with their friends. We loved the beautiful atmosphere and decor and the fun but relaxed energy. We ordered fish and chips which were very good and came back here a few times for drinks and a good time.

Had dinner here during the horse races so the place was hopping. My wife ordered the Haddock Fish and Chips and I the Seafood Chowder w brown bread. Everything was very good. Certainly not the best while we were in Ireland and Scotland, but still very good. Service was, likewise, very good. Especially considering how busy the place was.

Completely understaffed. It's not for lack of trying by the staff. Kitchen just as slow. Disappointed in the food also.

Got the seafood platter and chowder, very yummy! Not too busy during lunchtime on a weekday so service was quick and our waiter was so kind.

O'Connell's Bar, which has been famous for years in its own right, rose to international prominence thanks to ole Ed Sheeran's "Galway Girl". It was pretty cool to see the spot where the video was filmed and it only added to the allure and story of the place! When you walk in off the street, you may just think it is a small cozy Irish pub and for the most part, you would be correct. However, go through the doors in the back and you are transported to a large, open-air beer garden featuring store fronts, stages, booths, heaters and more! While the inside is classic and uniquely Irish, the outdoor space is its own vibe! It honestly feels like two different spaces, but they also feel connected. All in all, easily the best beer garden in Galway! We grabbed a few pints at the inside bar and spent most of our time outside. It was a tad chilly, but they have self-controlled and regulated heaters over several of the seating alcoves, so we were comfortable an ended up hanging around for a few pints. Location is stellar, directly on Eyre Square, which is a main hub for Galway. Easy to wander in while walking around or popping off a bus, as the main bus stop of the area is directly across the street. Overall, we absolutely loved our time at O'Connell's Bar!

We're just about there when the manager comes up behind us and said he found a table. Pretty impressive service. The table was in a medium sized room away from the music which was great as you could hold a conversation. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders and once we had the drinks be places our order, cottage pie and fish and chips. The cottage pie was served in a small, but not too small oval baking dish with a nicely browned top on the potatoes. It also came with a side of gravy which was a nice touch. Digging in there was a good amount of pulled well seasoned brisket with carrots mixed. Very tasty dish. The fish and chips arrived with a good portion chips and a moderately sized piece of well fried fish. The fish was very fresh and flaky and the breading was very light so it didn't over power the fish. We had a pleasant meal with two great servers, a manager that wouldn't give up on finding us a table and great music (acoustic guitar) to keep us enter. Definitely a great place for drinks and a good meal and one that we will gone back to.
