Came here after apple picking on a Sunday for lunch. The service and food were both subpar. The pizza was dry and the cheese inside of the calzone was solidified by the time it came to the table. The marinara sauce they provided tasted more like tomato soup than sauce. For a small town, you could say it's decent. Went there to eat Christmas Eve with my husband and a good friend and was embarrassed and humiliated when in the middle of dessert we were asked if we could give up our table because they had to seat someone with a reservation. I guess we had been taking to long to finish our meal. This has never happened to me in any restaurant. My husband treated us and spent a pretty penny since we ate everything from soup to nuts. What a nerve? And to make things worse when we told the owner we were very appalled at this, he said when we come again we can have a free dessert or drink. Who wants it? we ordered a large and it seemed a bit small. We had it delivered; it was overcooked, dry, and lackluster. the sun dried tomato on half the pie was burnt and chewy. They more than likely tossed them on the pie before it was cooked instead of at the end. The other half was supposed to be extra cheese and I would not consider it to be as such at all. We have been here before for dinner and also for parties and have always come away smiling. Today, was completely the opposite. The only thing we can think of is that maybe it was because we came for an early dinner. First let's begin with the waitress who while friendly was a bit off. After cleaning a nearby table that made us all cough up the strong windex she was using, she proceeded to leave the bottle windex and dirty rag on the adjacent table. We proceeded to order the calamari, chicken Milanese salad, and the pizza for our little-ones. The calamari was very tasty but when we asked for fresh lemon, our waitress said I'll be right back. She never returned until our next item was ready. Without the lemon. Our next item, the Milanese chicken salad which is usually delicious, was inedible. My husband had a few bites and he said it tasted old and like rubber. I had a few bites and it was not the same. It tasted like microwaved chicken. The couple behind us also made a complaint about something and the waitress apologized stating " this is his first day in the kitchen alone". The pizza was ok. Not what I remembered it as though. We were contemplating getting dessert for our little-ones but when the waitress asked the table next to us if they wanted dessert, but failed to ask us and instead just brought us the check we paid and left. If she would have been asked if we wanted coffee or dessert she would have been told, yes to all but instead they lost a few dollars on that bill. Fratello is our favorite place to eat in Warwick. The food is always fresh and there's tons of vegetarian options. All of the pizzas are super yummy - especially the grandma pie! Other favorites are the eggplant parmesean and my husband loves the rigatoni bolognese. Even the bread and butter is delicious. This is definitely a must-visit! read more

Went about 5 times again after this post.. .Every, single, time it is more amazing than the last. I continue to get the mussels everytime I go & my boyfriend always gets a different pizza which ends up being 2 slices too big and comes home with us, only to not make it until the next day. Delicious. The ONLY thing that has really been bothering me is that the bus boys are ENTIRELY too aggresive and all over you with wanting to clean up the table. I am SURE that this is being pushed by management & that these guys don't mean to be so annoying but a tip to management-- if there is only two people at the table that have an entree each and an app, just leave us alone and let us leave it on the table! Alot of your food is family style which means we are probably sharing it & picking! Most people will push plates to the end of the table which is the universal sign for please take this...Please have your busboys stop harrassing people and hovering to take their plates. Atleast the two tops. It's getting very frustrating! Let them just use some common sense & when they see a completely empty plate take it. If it isn't empty and not crowding the table, just let it be. read more

The food is getting very average now. Service, it's like you should be grateful they allowed you to come. Especially the middle-aged lady with black (i think( framed glasses and a chin bob with bangs. I am writing this because service has been awful the last few times I was there. Seems like the only thing to order that is great is the pizzas. If you want better service and great italian, I would go to Bella Luna on Rt 94 in Blooming Grove. maybe the pizza is wonferful, the descriptions would make it seem so on the menu. Unfortunately however, the non pizza entrees are in the awful catagory. I ordered a farfalle with sausage, arugala and walnut and received a farfalle with onion and artichoke dish. I am not a complainer, I like most things so I just ate it. The sausage was weird and I am still trying to get the taste of salt out of my mouth. I feel that the ridiculous portions are a distraction from the lack of freshness and taste. Three retired New York City firemen decided to venture into the restaurant business and opened Fratello's Brickoven in Warwick, NY about 5 years ago. They hired an Italian chef, appropriate for an Italian restaurant but don't get your hopes up. I would say that this is a fine neighborhood southern italian restaurant but I'd not consider it a destination. It's well-appointed but don't expect table cloths...our table had wrought iron legs and a wrought iron mesh top. My wife had a hardy Caesar salad that was quite good....I'd say better than average. She stayed with an appetizer for her entree of eggplant and mozzarella cheese. The eggplant skin was a bit tough however she successfully removed most of it from the meat. I ordered the Mozzarella Caprese and it was the wrong choice....tomatoes are out of season....no fault of the kitchen. My pasta with red clam sauce entree was average. I honestly do not recall what our friend had....may have been veal parmesan. We all split a Tartufo for dessert and I must say that the decaf cappuccino was great. The young lady bartender was the most pleasant employee....personable and a delight. She did say before we were seated that the pizzas were the best and I suspect there are other fine offering that we may try at another time whenever we're in Warwick. read more

When we arrived we were the only ones there for about 30 minutes so not sure why the delay. No tables had cutlery or napkins and when we asked for both the waitress seemed a bit bewildered! I love this place!!!! I did notice that the food took a while to come out, but it was worth it. You have the option of regular sized entrees or family style, which feeds 4. My group of four got a family sized chicken marsala and a pizza. The chicken marsala was ok but not what I am dreaming of returning for. It was, though, huge. Eight chicken breasts and probably 2 pounds of pasta. We ended up with a whole other meal of leftovers. What I am dreaming of- the pizza!! It was so good with a sweet tomato sauce and fresh mozz. I saw someone eating a calzone which I need to try on my return visit. The dining room is small and waits can be long. We sat out on the patio which was really nice. The service was okay. It started with cold bread and not enough of it. It took a while to get the food but when we got it te taste was mediocre. Pizza chef kept walking past our table which made it really annoying. The busboy kept coming up to the table and asked if we were done no!!! Dont know what happened to this place! All previous experiences(5 of them) had been positive. Normally i do not yelp but the service was so bad I had to write a review. The girl cleaning the table was rude and could care less. Have you ever been in a place where you truly knew the person did not want to be there?? Yep that happened tonight! How about some training in customer service? In addition as they were busy the server appeared to just want to move us out to fill the table. Thanks! My family and I waited over an hour for our lunch to come to the table (and nothing complicated) just a few pizzas. Plus our waitress didn't get our order right either. Pizza was just ok. Nothing special. The vision of the teenage boy standing next to the wood burning oven rolling dough in his hands up high wasn't that attractive either. Everything was delicious but a bit disappointed in the pizza. They sat us in the beautiful main dining room with a vaulted ceiling. The service was fantastic from the host to the waitress. The complementary garlic knots were light and airy, best I have ever had. The clams casino appetizer was hands down the best I've ever had. I felt the portion was skimpy for $10 though. Individual house salad was huge, enough for 3 people. It was fresh with mixed greens and a delicious house made balsamic. My son's Pasta Fagiole was very good even though there was no pasta in it. The kicker came when the pizzas were brought to the table. Completely undercooked, soggy, and limp. I alerted the server who immediately took them back. The cook said there was no way to re-heat so he made us two fresh pies. They were much better as the crust had some color and crispiness. I think the first ones may have been sitting for a while also. After eating at numerous brick oven pizzerias I know a good thin crust pizza. These were just okay. The toppings were fresh and they used fresh mozzarella. The crust was severely lacking though. Although light and somewhat crispy it tasted like cardboard. They should probably experiment with different types of flour and or yeast. I also noticed gas jets in the back of the pizza oven. The best brick oven pizzas I have ever had were either from wood or coal fired ovens. We will definitely go back but I will order one of their entrees next time. read more

Delicious Italian food and wonderful service. My boyfriend and I came here Saturday night around 8:30 to indulge in Italian food. I am currently not eating meat, and the wait staff was more than willing to let me craft my dish accordingly. I opted for the penne con polli (minus chicken; add marinara) over linguine. Despite changing everything in the name, they were happy to accommodate my dining desires. They even put the chicken on the side so my boyfriend could eat it! After dinner, we wanted to watch the NCAA basketball games, and they allowed us to bring our bottle of wine over to the bar, where we also listened to come live music! read more

This is the third time we have visited this restaurant.... I must say this time we were completely disappointed. We ordered the chicken parm platter which I can tell you honestly, in my opinion, was not freshly made. Cutlets were very hard and dry...almost as if they had been pre-made a day or so ahead of time and just heated for the platter. Yes, we have been there a few times already but the food just isn't that terrific - it was the atmosphere that we enjoyed - but atmosphere alone is not enough. Unequivocally the worst restaurant i've ever eaten at. The garlic they used in my sautéed spinach was jarred garlic not fresh garlic, it was overpowering & horrible. The breadcrumbs on my clams oreganato tasted like sawdust with absolutely no flavor. And finally the margarita pie we ordered tasted like cardboard, a frozen supermarket brand that I bought the other day tasted 100 times better. I come here for the pizza- its pretty good, but prepare yourself, it does take a while to get it. It is made in the hot oven right in front of the dining tables. It gets crowded here and the wait for a table is usually long. There is a bar to hang out at while waiting. I haven't eaten the dinners here yet. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! This place looked so nice from the outside, that was the only thing nice about this place. We started with the hot anti-pasta and it clearly came from the freezer, almost unedible. It was obviously microwaved with a spoonful of terrible marinara sauce ladled on top. We then ordered a pizza that was so dry and tasteless it was hard to swallow. The beer on tap was marginally cold. Highly disappointed as it looks so nice from the outside. I have never written a review in my life but felt I should so others won't waste their money. The owners and chefs know nothing about Italian food and should be embarrassed at the product they are serving people. Gordon Ramsay would be appalled.
