I really enjoyed a recent facial I got here through a promotion. It wasn't extremely fancy, but it was cute enough. I saw Laura, who seemed really nice. The facial itself was mostly pleasant. I liked the survey they give you about preferences during treatment. However, the neck massage I was given during the facial was super hard and had me sore afterwards. I am used to deep pressure but it was too much. I liked how they ask you if you would like recommendations for skin care products instead of forcing you to listen to them try sell you products. Worst facial I've ever had. Originally, I signed up for a regular facial but she suggested a peel to give my face a more "glowing" appearance. Later that night, my face broke out in red raised bumps and my skin was burning. It looked and felt horrible. I went back the next day to show the manager and they really had no explanation. Later, I went to my dermatologist and she had to prescribe a topical steroid to help with all the inflammation that the peel had caused. read more

I've never written reviews before. Sure, I've taken a survey here and there when it's sent to me after a customer service issue but that's it. However, I often use Yelp to help me find a new service or restaurant [thank you to all of you who write reviews!] so I've been telling myself for years that I must write a review about Ananya. Finally, here I am. I first starting go to Ananya Spa when it opened - following its owner after she left her last position working for someone else. She gave the best massages I'd ever had and her upbeat, caring personality made following her a no-brainer. Now Ananya has added facials, nails, etc. I guess we tend to hire people who are like we are - at least this has been the case with Ananya. I recently had a facial with Paula at Ananya. It was such a wonderful experience and I cannot believe how great my skin looks. Paula was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to visit with during the facial. I also had a pedicure with Alice. I love how my feet look but the best part is the foot massages I got throughout the pedicure. I'm awful about going in to have my feet taken care of so Alice had quite a task ahead of her. But she cheerfully took the time necessary to do a thorough, great job. I have been going to Ananya for 2 years now. Despite some turnover (I was broken hearted to hear of Jenny's absence), and Kate is my go-to (originally it was hard to choose between the two!). She is professional, clean, and friendly (very important when someone is giving a Brazilian). I was wearing a dress and she offered me a robe so that way there could be no chance of wax drippings, I opted not to and folded my dress up with no problems. I am giving this place 4 stars because I have never felt so welcomed by my estheticians, and in fact was telling Kate this yesterday, and raving about her to my friend that I had no idea a Brazilian could be so fun. I used to go to Frenchy's but I had never had the same kind of warm heartedness that both Jenny and Kate have. I hope that the turnover doesn't trickle down and I lose her! I know Ananya takes pride in providing the best customer service and I have seen this with most of the staff. I liked Siobhan and the new receptionist is very nice. I really enjoy this spa because of Kate. I was really, really disappointed to hear about the continued turnaround. The service by the manager is what did me in from no longer going here. I was appalled at the lack of professionalism by the owner and manager disclosing inappropriate gossip. It was no longer fun to go there after my two faves were squeezed out, and the owner/manager continued talking about them poorly to the clients. Talk about uncool. I won't be back, and will continue to try and find Kate and Jenny's new places of work. read more

So glad I found this place online. I tried to book a a few weeks ago for a couples massage for our 1 year anniversary but as per usual I leave everything to the last minute. The girl on the phone was so awesome and because I'd said it was for an anniversary she even suggested other businesses nearby that she thought may be able to take us. It was because of this that I decided I'd wait. I figured awesome customer service was a good indication of the treatment we'd receive. Finally got a chance to go on Saturday evening. Yeah, I'm the hours are fantastic. The massage was well and truly overdue and they took the time to find out what we wanted. And they didn't disappoint. I've found my spa! This place is clean, calm, and quiet, just the atmosphere I crave for my massages! It smells nice too. :) I relaxed immediately and the massage was great. I especially liked that when you check in they give you a questionnaire that asks things like, "Do you like conversation during your massage?" "Do you mind getting your glutes massaged?" "Do you mind getting your toes massaged?" Knowing they already knew something about me going in, I felt comfortable immediately and could maximize my relaxation experience. Wow! I'm a new mom who is very picky about spa services and I super-enjoyed this place! For $255, I received a one hour massage, a 45 minute body scrub, and a one hour facial! A little on the pricey side, but these girls were worth it! Nina Bort was my massage therapist and body scrubber...she is VERY good at what she does. She is professional and respectful of your wishes and it was easy to ask for pressure adjustments. For the facial I had Jenny. Brilliant work! Her extractions did not hurt at all and while the steam was opening my pores, she let me choose between a scalp massage and foot massage. I was in heaven at Ananya...between treatments I received tea or water and they even gave me a granola bar at the end of my 3-hour stay! Plus, no one tried to sell me any products which I so appreciate! That always pissed me off when you go for spa to RELAX and then they stress you out by trying to sell you things! None of that at Ananya! The ambiance was really nice, too. Clean and simple. The tea was hot and delicious, to boot! I will go there again! read more

Fantastic experience at the spa this week. Booked a last minute appointment during one of their specials I got via email for a facial. The vibe at the spa was relaxing, the place was very clean and smelled incredible. The locker room was equipped with lockers, snacks, fresh water, plush robes, and slippers. My esthetician (Mollie) was very informative and created a facial experience that met my needs. The product line is plant-based and each treatment smelled and felt incredible. The staff did not push the products on me (which is great since a lot of products are highly priced in spas!) and have sound recommendations on my skincare regimen. TERRIBLE!!! My girlfriend and I went for my birthday and this was by far the worst spa experience I have ever had. We got the couples sundari massage and she got stuck with an awkward massage therapist who was more like a clumsy amateur than a seasoned professional therapist. Knapinsky was her last name. During a 90 min treatment she managed to either drop or bump into something every 10 minutes or so. The hot stones she used were so hot they scolded my girlfriend's back, leaving bright red spots down her spine. She completely destroyed the ambiance and the experience. My girlfriend left just as tense, if not more so, as when we arrived. For such a nice looking place and for how expensive the treatments are, I expected much more. I can honestly say I was extremely disappointed with the experience, and it was not a good start to my birthday celebrations. read more

I went to Ananya last weekend for an eyebrow shape with Laura. The whole experience was great--I've been to Ananya previously, but that was a few years ago. They've definitely upgraded throughout the spa and everything looks really nice. The actual treatment was smooth and quick. Laura talked about my brows with me before she started, made sure I was happy with her plan, then got to work. They look amazing and I'm completely satisfied. I would have given them a 5 star review just for this... but then things got way better. The day after my wax I noticed red bumps and swelling around my brows and it just got worse over the next two days. I did some looking online and it's was a bad reaction due to medication that I use--completely my fault. When I asked Ananya for tips on how to sooth it they went above and beyond by offering me a few products to use and offering my next treatment for free. Completely unexpected and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll definitely be back many, many times. read more

I ended up choosing Ananda Spa for my brazilian waxing after searching for somewhere that didn't advertise itself as cool, but as relaxing. It is that and more. I've been getting my brazilians done at Ananda for almost a year now. I can say from first hand experience that the service has only improved and is constantly getting better. For a while, every time I went, I would have a new aesthetician. Lately, however, Julianne is there every time I need her. Really friendly and attentive staff that customize your spa experience to your needs. Came in to get knots massaged out of my back and shoulders and the masseur did a great job, paying attention to my problem areas. They also give you a survey beforehand to ask you about stress areas, massage intensity, etc. which is super convenient for return visits. Also conveniently nearby Olympic Sculpture Park in Belltown. Lobby is super small so I wouldn't advise arriving too early because there's not much of a place to sit. read more

This place is very nice and reasonably priced. Comparable in quality to other high end spas I've been to without breaking the bank. The interior is very clean and relaxing and the staff seemed nice. I got a mani pedi, massage, and facial. The mani pedi was a little limited with colors, and there are no vinylux colors to choose from, but they use a vinylux top coat so the polish really lasts. It's been a week and no chips. The masseuse was attentive and gave the the massage I asked for. That isn't always the case at every spa- they sometimes just give you what they think you need or are trained in. So the customization and customer service was definitely a pleasant surprise. The facialist was also very nice and understanding of my sensitive skin needs. The extraction was not overly aggressive and overall the facial was soothing instead of painful like other facials I've gotten. In sum, I had a great experience and will be going back. read more

The place itself is nice and the front desk staff person was super friendly and accommodating. The changing room/waiting room is very tiny and when multiple people are in there it is a bit tight and awkward. The masseuse I had (I will withhold the name) was totally unfriendly, didn't introduce herself by name, didn't engage me in any conversation before or after, and quite frankly, didn't demonstrate highly skilled techniques. She knew two levels - soft and really really hard. Her techniques were tantamount to rubbing lotion in. I hate to rate the entire spa low because of this one sub-par experience with a tired, uninterested masseuse (I had an end-of-day appt), but feel disappointed in her service enough to want to write about it. A massage is such a personal experience and it's all about skill and interaction. My masseuse failed in both. read more

I love this place! I came here for my anniversary weekend for a couples massage. I was actually pretty nervous before coming because I've never gotten a massage before and I don't particularly like people touching me. But since it was a gift and part of a really romantic weekend, I decided to try out getting a massage. We were greeted as soon as we entered and brought to changing rooms which were super clean and has nice lockers, and lots of products to freshen up (some woman was utilizing their hair dryer and brushes when I arrived). Once I changed I got to wear the most amazing robe, it was like a cloud engulfed me and I never wanted to take that robe off. Once we were ready our masseuses Alexa and Allison (I think) came to get us and brought us into a really relaxing room. The massage tables they have are heated and are super comfortable. My masseuse was Allison, and since I wasn't particularly fond of having a lot of pressure on my back she was really gentle but definitely worked out all my stress kinks from working on a computer all day. That massage was definitely the most stress and tension relieving thing I've ever gotten done. Once our massages were over and we changed back into our robes we were greeted on the way out of our room with chocolate truffles and champagne and brought to an area to relax. This was both our first spa experience and it was definitely really nice and a lot of fun! We definitely will be back!! read more

The new location is a huge improvement and I like how Julianne and the staff are always trying to look for ways to make things better and better. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Ananya for couples massages and wraps. Laura did his massage, John did mine, and overall they were quite lovely. The music was horribly distracting and not the least bit calming though - imagine Disney soundtracks and adult contemporary performed on piano or acoustic guitar. It's like you are trapped in an elevator or on hold. The therapists have no control on the tunes....that's the front desk. So when you are naked and face down on a massage table, you have no relief. Minus one star. Next up we had our wraps, Laura and Sophia this time. They set us off in our little dressing area while they prepped the treatment room. That was when I realized my XL robe was really kinda small....I wouldn't be comfortable in a waiting area with other people. I had my small cup of water, but no way to refill. Whatever. Wraps started out ok. Husband LOVED his, especially because he got a scalp massage the whole time he was wrapped up. Plus one star It's two days later and I can't stop thinking about how disappointed I am. I regret not speaking up during my treatment, but I think it was because it was that awkward of a situation I was actually panicking. The room was cold. The whole spa is cold with the icy blue green walls and concrete floor. It doesn't exude comfort or calm to me. The table was heated during my wrap, but the whole process was horribly awkward. She slathered goop all over me, then wrapped me up in plastic and a thermal cover that I don't believe fully covered me. I felt cold in my core while wrapped up, I'm assuming because a fair bit of my chest was exposed and not covered by the thermal wrap. I had my scalp massaged, then she started massaging my feet, which meant unwrapping them and letting more cold air in. Minus three stars At the end of the wrap, I was wiped down, then coated in a thick layer of lotion. During the treatment I wasn't ever asked if I was comfortable. There are no showers, apparently. I left the spa feeling gross and cold. I couldn't wait to take a hot shower and warm up and get the funky lotion off me. Why didn't I stay and share with the front desk? Because I just wanted it to be over and I just wanted out. Minus 1 star. I won't be returning. I won't be referring people. The massage with John was great, and he should be at a better place than this. I want to give Ananya that second star for John, but the fact that I feel violated and ripped off days later took that star away. EDITED TO ADD: I just got a call from the spa to discuss much review. I have been absolutely everywhere, from 'prestigious' (aka overpriced) Gene Juarez to more boutique spas, and I am so thankful I found Ananya. It is the very best. Fast, painless as can be, minimizes ingrowns, great prices - ESPECIALLY for regulars! The package deals not only save you $$$, they keep you coming every 4-6 weeks... like you should be. I absolutely love the new location. Relaxing, gorgeous colors, and you often feel like you're the only person at the spa that day - completely spoiled. I have gone between seeing Julianne and Joy, and the only reason I would pick between the two of them is due to scheduling. I think it really says something that Julianne trains and expects her staff to be just as talented and high-quality as she is. I left the spa feeling like a brand new person. This was my first massage experience and I don't think any other spa will be able to compare. The service was so fast and the massage that we got was beyond amazing. I definately think I got what I paid for. My cousin and I got a couples deep tissue massage by Nina & Jud, they were wonderful. I fell asleep through most of the massage, they didn't try to make too much small talk which is really nice because I really enjoyed the peace and quiet. I would recommend reserving on sundays because parking is free, but if you can't find street parking there is a parking garage literally 2 lights down from the spa that is only $5. read more

I had a 180 minute massage with aromatherapy with Megan. She was wonderful! Perfect pressure, and she followed my intake form exactly. The aromatherapy probably wasn't worth it, but the massage was great. It was my first time and I used a gift card, but I'll be back. The spa itself was clean and quiet on a late Saturday morning.
