Parking can be a bit tricky. I was actually worried we wouldn't be able to find parking when we planned to visit one evening because parking was difficult to find earlier in the afternoon, so we decided to Uber from our hotel and back. We wanted to catch the town square shootout they put on every evening. Very cute little show that lasts maybe about 15 minutes. They sell some drinks and snacks as a fundraiser as well. The best part of our visit was a genteel raft trip down the Snake River, where you can get a whole different perspective of the park's landscape. As we floated down the river, the snow-covered mountains were visible for most of the trip -- making for some truly great photos. A group ahead of us spotted a moose, but it was gone by the time we got to where it was. It was still a very peaceful and enjoyable afternoon in the park. This national park is truly one of the most beautiful ones that I have visited.

It's more of a boulder replica than a rock wall but very significant with lots of options for climbing to the top of this 8-10 foot man-made 'boulder' that's approximately 40 feet by 10 feet. Numerous handholds. This is a serious challenge. I don't know much about rock climbing or bouldering and that will be evident in this description. Neither do my boys. All I know is that they love this feature of this park in Jackson, and I've never seen anything else like it anywhere in America.

The restaurant we were going to that night was also across the street from the park and we wanted to see the best route to take from our hotel to this area, hence hanging out in the park for a little bit. The park has a lot of amenities, including areas you can rent out for large parties. There are courts for games like pickleball and a nice open grassy space. The playground is very cute and kids of all ages would probably love to play on the sets. There is a nice looking bathroom but unfortunately, they close for the winter, beginning on October 1st.

"When you see a deer you see Bambi And I see antlers up on…read morethe wall" (Brad Paisley) When our tour bus rolled through Jackson Hole en route to our hotel, my eyes caught sight of something bizarre. It was a big archway at an entrance to a park -but what exactly was that arch made of? Well, there are really four arches at every corner of the park, and they are made from elk antlers. They were built by the local Rotary Club in 1953 and have become a beloved Jackson Hole icon as a landmark and photo backdrop for wedding shoots and family portraits. I read that each of the four arches are made of between 1,000 to 2,000 pounds of antlers. The local Boy Scouts pick up antlers that were shed at the Elk Refuge for the arches and harvest them for the arches. Each antler weighs between 5 and 10 pounds, and are mechanically attached around a steel frame to create these magnificent arches. I also read that the antlers degrade over time, so constant inspection and replacement is necessary.
