I did not eat in. I got a takeout order through the Yelp App! It was my first time using it. Very seamless, foolproof really. The payment was processed through GrubHub with no delivery fee since I picked it up myself! The location was easy to find. There's a huge, gorgeous mural on the side of the building. I wasn't quite sure where I "could" park, but there is no shortage of parking in the area, to include two lots on each side. Walking in was a little confusing too. Could be because we used the App to order, maybe they thought we were pros. We weren't greeted when we came in and we didn't really know what to do. We asked the people sitting at the bar about an order and they pointed to a bag on the table. That was a little confusing too because the App said the order wasn't ready and no one was really talking so we were a lil unsure and it was a lotta awkward. They lost a star for that. No worries though. We got home. It was our order. It was delicious. It was at a great price!! I will definitely be going back! Did I mention their potato balls are to die for? This is the worst so called Puerto Rican food I've ever had! I got the steak with onions, white rice with beans, cassava, and flan. The only good thing was the flan. The steak was tough and tasted terrible. The beans were horrible. The cassava didn't taste good. Even the white rice tasted weird and was under cooked! read more

First time ordering from this restaurant. BEST Caribbean food I've had in this area! We ordered several different empanadas and were pleasantly surprised by great pastry and subtly flavored fillings. And they are HUGE! But even better was the Trifongo with pork. I have never had better! It is not easy to make as it is time consuming and they did it right! Portions were perfect and rice and peas with roasted pork(pernil) was superb! Melt in your mouth! I'm sorry I did not take pictures! And everything arrived hot. Who said Harrisburg doesn't have culture? Anastacia's Restaurant/Bar is a brand new establishment that serves up authentic Puerto Rican cuisine at its finest! I had on a number of occasions passed by their location on 6th Street as they were renovating the building and decided the place certainly wasn't appealing enough to check out upon completion. However, after a quick glance through some of their pictures on myspace (http://tinyurl.com/68nny9) I was surprised to see how nice of an establishment it really was, not what I expected at all! I had to see/taste the place for myself, so I decided to drop in for lunch. Now don't be fooled into thinking that since the restaurant is on 6th Street it clearly must be a dive like I had mistakenly done, the place is quite nice. The inside is colorful and neat, with a decent size bar and dining area complete with 4 flat panel TVs and a large chandelier. Everything is brand new, but the menu is seriously authentic - they even serve up Patitas de Cerdo, pigs feet! I wish I could say I'm that adventurous, but I stuck with the stewed chicken and rice 'n beans which was absolutely delicious. Service was great, and I'll be going back, maybe this time to try something a little more out of the ordinary. The menu is different depending on the day, but the prices are all quite modest. Check it out for yourself, the owners are hard working people and have done an excellent job renovating the entire place. My first time here, though I've been casing the place for years. Just down the street from 1500/Crawdaddy's, this brightly-painted remaindered row building is on the fringe of a pretty seedy, largely residential section of 6th Street. The front door enters into the bar, which looks as if it might be the most frequently used area. The dining room has several folding tables with chairs, a computer and fax/copier against a wall, a number of flat screen TVs, and miscellaneous stuff, including a big artificial banana tree, pushed rather haphazardly into a corner. So much for interior decor. Reminded me of a VFW hall on an off-night. We were attended to quickly, but we were the only patrons in the whole place. The warm hostess/server (cook, too, for all I know) took our drink order. Here was my only disappointment: no Puerto Rican beer. I know people will say no loss, there is no good Puerto Rican beer, but I was hoping to find out for myself. I settled instead for a nearby island and had an El Presidente. The lunch menu is, I'm guessing, also the dinner menu. Several wonderful looking appetizers and entrees. We asked the hostess what she liked, and she recommended the beef stew. I had it with Spanish rice and ordered the sweet plantains app. The plantains were the best I've ever had, sweet but not too sweet, and too-hot-to-eat hot right from the fryer. The stew was also excellent, savory and fork-tender, with carrots, potatoes and a delicious brown gravy. The hostess checked on us regularly as we devoured every morsel. A fine meal! dana G and Brian R have excellent reviews, heres what I have to add: There is no private parking monday thru friday until 5pm, it is on street, or in the evenings and weekend you can use the lot behind the bar. They serve breakfast, and the prices appear to be reasonable, however i didnt try it. Our party arrived and was welcomed when we first walked in. There is a full bar immediately to the left as you go in. it looks really high-scale, as brian noted, I was suprized to find something this beautiful in this neighborhood. Beautiful chandelier, full sized spanish languge tvs, nfl ticket, gorgeous bar, new tables & equipment. We ordered the following: a tamale, which is ground potato, yam & plaintain over pork wrapped in a banana leaf, 3.00 it was alright, I dont think I've had one before, so I thought it was so-so. Cod fish, came with rice & beans, this was the smallest portion, about 7.00 tasted good, but average sized. There was beef stew, on a plate and it came with veggie rice, thought it was alright, there were a few chunks of potato and some slices of beef. Lastly there was the goat meat, 8.00 it also had a fair-sized piece of meat, and came with beans & rice. I finished it off with some flan, it tasted sweet, also the first time I've had it, seriously Im not lying. All-in-all I'd say this is a 3.5 but ill round up, it was pretty cool, I liked it, if youre in the area, i'd suggest checking it out. read more

I went to Anastacia's on Sunday evening around 6pm. My companion and I were the only customers the entire time we were there. That's unfortunate, because the food is good. Beef stew was very good. The sauce was slightly heavy on the olives, but overall it was a good dish. The roast pork was tender and succulent, though the cut they used was a little on the fatty side. The rice and beans were very good. We also ordered appetizers of both the tostones and sweet plantains. The tostones were a little bland until we salted them. They came with a little cup of olive oil, which seemed slightly unnecessary considering that it's already a fried dish. Service was slow, which was very surprising given the fact that we were the only two customers in the entire restaurant. Our server appeared too distracted by her cell phone conversation and TV program to pay much attention to us. Perhaps I am overly critical because I grew up in a Cuban-American household and this didn't compare to "abuela's home cooking." Overall, I gave Anastacia's three stars because the food is a solid, if not spectacular representation of Latin-American cuisine and I feel strongly that we need to support such establishments in Harrisburg if we are to grow the ethnic restaurant scene in this area. where do I start.. I ordered from this place thinking I was going to get some good food. Turns out the dam rice was old I mean old and hard, the fried chicken was Banquet frozen pieces. It was not fresh at all! How do you serve that at a place where you think the food is authentic. The sweet plantain and beef was completely fried hard and also old.. you can tell the oil was never change.. I will and repeat I WILL NEVER EVER!!!! Eat from the dump again.. If they serve drinks they need to close the damn kitchen.. This place is a joke and the food is horribly disgusting.. I don't eat fast food but I will eat a Cheeseburger that has fallen on the floor before I eat at the place again.. I never throw food away but this particular time I had to. I'm sure a lot of people drive by here and pass it off as just another so-so bar/restaurant, but wow are they missing out. My wife and I fell in love with Puerto Rican food during our Caribbean cruise when we stopped in San Juan, and Anastacia's is at least as good as the two restaurants we visited there. You must try the mofongos con carne. They were absolutely incredible, and served with a dipping sauce that I'd pay $20/jar for if they sold it. I can't wait to go back to try the mofongos con camarones (mofongos with shrimp). If you've never had mofongos, they're fried plantains, then mashed into a thick paste, and filled with the meat. The inside of the restaurant is VERY nice, with a great bar, HD TV's, and bathrooms as clean as you'll find anywhere. The owner Ricardo couldn't have treated us any nicer. The only downside is the neighborhood....it's located in a bit of a run-down part of Harrisburg, and you'll have to park on the street I believe (we did), but don't let that stop you from giving this little-known gem a shot. read more
