Went with couple of friends for dinner to Herby's. My friends had been there before and had liked the food. Location is not good. The building itself is fine. Has its own parking and interior is nicely decorated. We ordered Nachos Supremos for the table. It was decent. I'm glad they did not mix in all the meats. Filling was divided. For my dinner I ordered Shrimp Tacos - way too salty! I think it was the sauce/cheese. I tried taking it out, but then was not left with much. I couldn't eat most of it. Due to the remote location and non impressive food, I doubt I will be returning to this restaurant.

Resting on its laurels, this once great Mexican restaurant, couldn't suck any harder. On cinco de Mayo they had a fixed menu. No complementary chips and salsa(7.99) no festive music. The three taco "dinner" with beans and rice was 15.99... wow. I guess if there was a day to price gouge it would be today. Good job. Three tacos, different meats, all tasted the same. But you get a tablespoon of rice and beans along with your tacos. If you want sour cream or hot sauce... it's a dollar. Jesus. Never again. Oh well.

I loved Herby's!! Since I moved to the area in 2008, I've been visiting Herby's anytime I am in the mood for authentic and delicious Mexican food & drinks! Their nacho appetizer is always cheesy and amazing, and my favorite dish was always seafood enchiladas. I am not sure if they are still on the menu but if so, I highly recommend them!

This place is in the middle of bressler, and is pretty hard to find. the easiest directions are get off the swatara exit of 283 south, go towards eisenhower blvd, turn left then turn right on 441 you'll be on track, at the turkey hill turn onto main street. it has excellent mexican food, and has been open for many years. it has a full bar and also about 2 or 3 channels of spanish language programing, news sports, soap operas. i reccomend the soupa de cameron (shrimp soup) it costs about 4.50 but is pretty excellent. shrimp, cilantro, celery and corn. and my other favorite is bistek a la mexicana. and chicken en mole pablano. the menu is easy to order from and all the waitresses speak english very well. they have a large selection of mexican beer. you can shoose from entrees of chicken, beef or shrimp, and the manu has hte name in spanish and english, so if you want to be cool you can say it in spanish. appetizers are 1.50 to 14.95 for an entree. if you can find it you'll enjoy it. i always thought it was a little crowded inside, but its pretty comfortable. last time we had our whole family there and ordered everything update: after eating at the taco truck, tres hermanos & tacos mi tierra, i cant give this 5 stars, sorry herby's.

    So cute!

The restaurant itself had a few tables, a frozen ice cream box, video chance games, a huge rack of phone cards and several pictures decorating the walls. Most of the pictures depicted scenes from mexico, such as poncho villa, zapata, rural life, cows, etc... one of the walls was covered in mirrors and had a sombrero hanging on it. They have standard tacos at 2.50 apiece, chicken, beef or pork. We tried several of them. There was also a Torta for 8.50 that was pretty decent. There was some type of hot sauce (Valentina brand) here that that we put on it made it significantly better. The helado de fresa or strawberry ice cream ($1.50) balanced it out. We also had the Bistek Ranchero: it came with 6 yellow corn tortillas, onions, cilantro, beans, rice & lots of beef, mixed with red pepper. That cost 14.00 pretty decent if you ask me. What makes this place stand out in my opinion is the " tostada ceviche de camaron " or lime marinaded seafood salad on a deep fried corn tortilla. This item is occasionally also available at competitors but not nearly as good. 5 Stars, incredible food!

One thing that immediately caught my attention was the décor. Our table featured beautiful images representing Mexican heritage, and although I didn't get a chance to take a picture, the chairs also had some very nice carved details that added to the atmosphere. After ordering our drinks, everyone decided on lunch. My wife ordered the Taquitos along with a side of cheese dip, I had the Perfect Portion Taco, and our friends shared the Carnitas Platter. While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed the complimentary warm chips and fresh salsa. The chips were nice and warm, and the salsa had excellent flavor. When our meals arrived, everything looked fresh and appetizing. We all enjoyed our food, and everyone left satisfied with their meal. Overall, we had a very pleasant lunch. The friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and good food made for an enjoyable experience. Before we even left, we were already saying that the next time we're in town, we'll have to stop back for another meal. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area, El Rancho is definitely worth a visit.

I will still remember the time that I was so excited and felt a bliss of the taste of their Birria tacos as well as many of their signature dishes, such as the yucca and chicharron. However, if this were to be true, it's such a shame that a place like this would take so much advantage on people like that, specifically their employees. Fortunately, there are definitely other places that now do birria tacos as well as been noted for bringing authentic Mexican cuisine in the Harrisburg area (some even cheaper and taste better than this place). But until they get their act together, I cannot support a place that does not support other people.

Let me just start off by saying the place itself is beautiful, antiqueish like but also gave me Mexican culture to the max. Which I loved. I visited Mexico before so it definitely was nice to see that. Everyone from the host to our server were so nice and friendly. We loved our server, he kept us laughing and was great with his attentiveness to the table. The menu offers a lot! Lol from traditional plates to vegetarian options. I wanted to try something different so I picked the San Jose burrito. A burrito stuffed with chicken, rice, chorizo, beans and topped with a jalapeño cheese sauce.. it was beyond what I expected. It was so flavorful! Loved every bite lol if you come here, I highly recommend. Hubby got the Tacos Del Mar which came with three tacos. 1- shrimp, 1- fried fish & 1-seared fish. His plate came with rice too. Which I think is great for the price and the portion they give you. We also order table side guacamole because you always need to have some gua when you're at Mexican restaurant right?!?!! Lol. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff , very nice spot. Go check it out if you haven't.

Margaritas (both on the rocks and blended) were very good. The blended was smoother than any Ive ever had before. Chips had a strong corn flavor, but the bowl was half full for three people and had enough broken pieces to suggest we'd gotten to the bottom of the bag. The salsa was delicious, with just a hint of heat. Entrees included a Pizza Birria, which was like a quesadilla, but more interesting. The tortilla had a well-cooked look to it, the center layer of braised beef, cheese and onions was thick enough to satisfy even the hungriest. The majority was taken home in leftovers. Another "never before seen" items was the chimichanga -- available soft or fried. What? A chimichanga is a FRIED burrito. If its not fried, its a burrito. Which, soft in this version, looked and was delicious, but I'm still confused. Finally, my Chicken Mole Poblano. So Much Food! And it was yummy! Slightly sweeter than what I'm used to, but trust me when I say I scarfed almost all of it down -- without the tortillas. A great night out, I know more family will visit it this week. I think I'd like to go back.

Inside, the vibe is warm and festive: colorful artwork, low-top tables, a lively bar stocked with tequilas, and gorgeous Moravian star lights glowing overhead. The menu is extensive -- everything from tacos and burritos to rice bowls, full entrées, and massive multi-person feasts served in lava rock molcajetes. Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough. Bottom line: great food, colorful atmosphere, and a menu that's begging us to come back. Next time, I'm eyeing one of those lava rock molcajetes.
