Over the past decade my eyebrows have been to hell and back. After literally being burned at my last brow appointment, I spent the last several months trying to grow back my hair from a botched job. My friend Devon F who is my guru for all things beauty related recommended the Anastasia Brow Studio at Tysons so I immediately decided to book an appointment using their easy online system. The hardest part of my appointment was looking for parking in the Tysons Corner parking lot. Maryam took me to her small beauty counter inside Nordstroms and lay me down for a consultation. What I really appreciated was that she took the time to measure my brows and stencil out what the end result would look like so I knew I'd be satisfied before she even got to work. The Anastasia brand believes in the beauty of full brows so I did not have to worry about looking like Kate Moss circa 1993. Maryam explained the whole process to me while working and had the gentlest touch -- it barely hurt at all! She also mentioned how I should maintain upkeep at home so I can eventually get to my full brow power level in a few months. I was super impressed! My eyebrows had a few too many walks through 5 minute job, chop shop hell. My tail was short, the under side of my brow uneven, and I was beginning to feel a bit hopeless. I learned that it takes 3 seconds to ruin an eyebrow, and 3 months (at least) to fix it. So I waited. I hid the tweezers, and I waited some more. I went almost the whole summer without touching my brows (which was so, so hard). After being burned so many times (actually quite literally, in some cases), I had developed eyebrow trust issues. What happened to me was so long story but to sum up: Unfortunately beauty people dont use waxing in Turky, they do tweezer guesstimation 1- I first got my eyebrows shaped in middleschool. Believe me not until highschool got I thin eyebrows! 2- In the highschool years I went to some place called Yildirim Ozdemir in Istanbul where I was living but unfortunately they did not do a good job so I started doing my own job. 3-College time: I was here in USA in a very expensive community so instead of wasting money I did myyself. Now I am 30 and very busy with doing all the house work, baby raising plus my blog. I am not complaining, this is sweriously what I like, but I want to be taking care of my beauty at the same time. I decided it is time to say `STOP` here. Knowing that not everplace does a good shaping ( most places do guestimation) I chose Anasthasia Eyebrow Shaping as for my new beauty spot. Believe or not I am personally not regretting to pay 30 bucks for the job at all! I was in the store looking exactly like this snd the esnetician placed me on a chair lting 190 degrees and she sat on a chair behind me where she was handling the job from the top not across me . Things to remember: 1- Here at Nordstorm, sales people are not trouble makers. 2-Anathasia eyebrows use special measurements and calvulations between eye and brow each time for `scientificly` perfect eyebrows (not guestimate) 3- They use loting and give calmin massage which also helped me with my headache. 4-It is better to pay 30 bucks up in the front then paying 15 here, 15 there and still not happy. 5- Out of experience : eyebrow waxing is the method that is the least painful. (tweezering and threating are not bad but takes longer to pickup the whole area and gives out MORE, much MORE pain!) Anasthasia eyebrows : 2 tumbs up experience ! Maryam is my a-maz-ing brow lady! I have what you would call "naturally good" brows. My boyfriend calls them "caterpillars." Whatever. They're bushy. I've plucked my brows wayyyy too thin before. I started waxing a couple of years ago in college to start some rehab. Then I moved to the D.C. area and tried threading. All of that was fine, but my brows ended up a little more lopsided than I would have liked them. I had seen Anastasia brows all over Instagram. I decided to see what all the hype was about, and found out there was a brow chair in Nordstrom at Tysons. They used to have a website you could book at, but it's down now and you have to call. Not a huge deal, the operator always answers after the first ring and forwards you to Maryam. If she is with a client you leave a voicemail and she calls right back. I've never had any issues with scheduling, and often times have been able to get in the same day. You sit in the chair and Maryam works her magic - first measuring your brows and facial features, then using the Anastasia stencils (there's a bunch for different face shapes) to outline your brow. She then waxes, tweezes any strays, shows you your brows and asks for feedback. If you're happy with them, she will move on to filling them in. I especially like the fact that this isn't a pushy sales place. A lot of other places will try to jump you with their products, but there's no pressure here. She'll definitely go over products and answer any questions. I recommend the clear brow gel for my girls with bigger brows - keeps em in place! I was thrilled to find an Anastasia Brows at the Nordstroms here at the Tysons Corner Mall. The brow center is located deep in the corner of Nordstroms, actually really tightly hidden in the corner. When I first stopped by the counter, they did not have an esthetician at the time, apparently the lady had quit (not a good sign). And the lady at the counter basically told me to just keep randomly coming by to see if they have a new esthetician (ok). So finally they found an esthetician, and I finally made an appointment. I wanted to try something new w/my eyebrows and allowed the woman to reshape them since she was an eyebrow expert. The outcome was ok. I liked the fact that she calculated the shaping of my eyebrows based on the contour of my face as well as using a ruler, rather than doing a guestimate by eye. But she didn't clean by cutting the eyebrow hairs shorter. They also have you lie down at a 190 degree angle and the eyebrow tech sits on a stool overlooking you using a magnifying glass versus everywhere else where you lie down at 170 degree angle and the eybrow tech is pretty much standing in front of you, using the naked eye. Overall, I would expect much more b/c I paid $30 to get my eyebrows shaped, that's why I give only 3 stars. read more

I've been going to Maryam for over a year now and my experiences have always been great. But today was PERFECTION. Backstory: I waited til the last minute to try and book an appointment around Christmas but there weren't any openings til after I would go on vacation. While I was on vacay I decided to get my brows waxed. Wrong answer. I left with one brow thinner than the other. I came back and showed Maryam and she told me to leave them alone and grow them out for a couple months. Two months later I went to see Maryam to fix what the other spa did. Maryam shows you how she will shape them with a stencil to ensure that both are symmetrical before she waxes. After she waxes she might tweeze a few strays before she fills in your brows. She'll also recommend what product to use (powder versus pencil since some products work better based on brow thickness, etc). My brows have never looked better. Whoever said that brows make your face the way shoes make your outfit was spot on. And Maryam keeps your brows on point. read more

I'm lucky because I naturally have "good brows." Although, I used to do makeup and I know how difficult it is for some women to make their brows look symmetrical and natural. The key thing is with the right training and person it CAN be done. Brows are not something you have to be "born with." In the least, getting your brows done by a professional can very much improve your overall look. Of course, now, thick brows are totally in. I came here after buying the Anastasia brow kit and realizing I did NOT need to attempt that on my own. Maybe some people can use that, but I knew I would end up placing one stencil on the top of my forehead and the other side diagonally and upside down. I need a pro to do my brows. I have always gone to threading and it works. I usually get pretty good results from that. But, now that completely natural is SO in, I wanted to finally try Anastasia. Of course she is the queen of brows, and going to the Nordstrom kiosk is the closest I will get to having them done by her. I loved the woman, she was nice and easy to talk too. She used the same Anastasia stencils, (but actually knew how to use them.) While I was sitting there a woman came by and was admiring what she was doing and became very interested and seeing what she was doing to my brows made her want to set up and appointment herself. She was a very attractive woman in her late 50's and had gorgeous makeup but her brows were kind of sparse from too much "overplucking." I could see how the service at the Brow studio would be perfect for her. It is always a good sign when other women stop to admire and talk about what you are doing. I left with the most gorgeous natural brow shape and brow makeup I have ever had. I bought some of the tools too because they are so cool.. One was a brow pencil that has concealer on one side and a shiny white highlighter on the other to highlight under the brows. Very worth it, and my brows have been easy to maintain since, so I don't have to go constantly. read more

I used to go to Red Door Spa with a specific technician to get my brows done. The grand total of that was $40 including tip... kind of steep for just a simple eyebrow wax. But at Anastasia, the technician uses different stencils to draw out the shape of your eyebrows according to your brow bones and facial feautures. She then waxes around the drawn on eyebrow, cleans it up and your real eyebrow looks great! The only part I am wary about is when she fills them back in at the end, mine get pretty dark and a little thicker than I like but it's not permanent so I just lightly dust it off afterwards. The whole thing costs $30 which isn't too, too bad considering she actually shapes and waxes the brows according to each person's unique brow bones. Definitely becoming a regular here! read more

I must say there has been a lot of turn over at this Anastasia recently. I have been to this location 3 times in the past 6 months or so and each time there has been a new person. I am hoping that Nicole sticks around for a while. I liked what she did for my brows and and also all her tips. Since I am still figuring out this area, she had a lot of tips for me. I also really liked the fact that she used to do facials so she has a lot of knowledge on skin care. I hope the next time I make an appointment she will be there! In case you are wondering why I took off one star, it is because of the price. It is $30 for getting your eyebrows done, which I feel like is expensive. I feel justified in doing it though because of the consistency of how my brows are done no matter who does them from Anastasia. read more

Went here once in November 2016. Only one woman worked there and she didn't even go by Anastasia's brand name. She just called herself "the eyebrow lady". I have thick eyebrows and use the largest stencil (she at least used the Anastasia stencils) and she disagreed with me on the subject of my own eyebrows and said I have to use a smaller stencil. I said no I'll leave if you refuse to respect my eyebrow requests and showed her a picture of what they normally look like after I get them done at the Anastasia in Aventura FL. She said that they were too thick and too close together. I told her that if she refuses to keep them thick I won't let her touch them. She reluctantly agreed to do them the way I like. When she was almost done she gave me the mirror and I began to cry. She didn't listen to a single thing I said and my eyebrows had never looked worse. Ridiculous. She claimed to not even work under Anastasia. I hope it's not like that anymore but if it is, god help you all from this woman's basic taste in eyebrows. read more

I am very particular about my brows- very! They are fairly thick and I like them to stay that way. It is really important that they are shaped in a way to highlight my features and not overwhelm my face while maintaining their fullness. Not only does Lacy at Anastasia do an amazing and careful job, the use of the stencil ensures accuracy as well as consistency each and every time I get my brows waxed.
