Came here as my friend has a membership as well her needing to pick up some pre-ordered bottles. We decided to stick around for a couple of glasses as well as watch the game that was on. The room has a nice sized TV just for watching whatever sport may be on, in this case - Seahawks. The staff, one of whom was the owner was very friendly, and each came by to chat with us about wines, and other offerings they had if we wished. The room seats maybe 25 people comfortably, there were a fair amount of people in and out during our visit. They also allowed my dog inside which was nice, so they're dog friendly. I had a couple glasses of their reminiscence Riesling which was great. Only snag was I guess they made some chili, which honestly sounded good, but we weren't interested. Ancestry Cellars is located in the same tasting room as TruthTeller and Grassie. Because of so, it can get busy. But we were able to find a spot and stayed awhile here, as we enjoyed the wines from Ancestry. Since we were all passport holders, we were told that we could choose from any three wines on the menu. Their menu is also paperless, as they ask that you look on the website for the menu. I am a red wine drinker, so started with the Provocant, a Bordeaux-style varietal red blend, and had the Le Frere, a cabernet sauvignon-forward wine and the 2015 reserve cabernet. I enjoyed all of the wines I had from here, but would say the reserve cabernet was my favorite. It was very full-bodied, with a nice oak finish. It's the kind of wine you have a nice juicy steak with. But the menu at Ancestry is huge, as they have several different types of wine. There's something for everyone here. Staff were very friendly and sociable. I love that dogs are allowed here! You're also allowed to eat your own food here, but there is no nearby eatery around. Bring your own picnic! I also learned that they have a tasting room in eastern Washington, so will have to check it out when I'm in that neck of the woods. I'm glad to have discovered Ancestry Cellars. read more

This was a really cute place. We found it through the Passport program. Wines are a French Bordeaux style, with a good number of whites and reds for all. Tasting fees were 3 for free for wine passport and another 3 for $5, or $10 for 5 wines if one isn't on the passport. Tasting fees are waived if you buy a bottle. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, the pourer was really nice and it was just a great time overall. Parking is easy, there's some garages for retail really close. The only issue is if you go before 3, The Rusty Pelican down the street will smell so good, you'll have order carry out. read more

We found this place to the Woodinville Wine Pass. It's paired up with another winery so you can do both of them in the same tasting room. The wines are little on the pricey side but they were very good. The surprise favorite pick was the Primitivo, which was excellent. Lovely little tasting room! What a fun new addition to the Woodin Creek area! I came in here's couple weeks ago to give their wines a try and was met by a lovely hostess with "the mostest!" She gave us the story behind their wines and was there to refill our glasses whenever they were empty. We ended up bringing home a bottle of their rose - a perfect start to summer! My husband and I tasted here last weekend, and was very disappointed in our experience. The young lady was not able to answer a couple of questions that should be known, such as where a vineyard is that the grapes came from and is listed on the tasting notes. If you're in the mood for an oenological one-two punch, here's the current hot tip: stop by the tasting room and production space shared by Ancestry Cellars and William Grassie Wine Estates in building just across the street from main cluster of buildings in the Warehouse District. It's actually not just Ancestry and Grassie that share the spot. A third winery that shares production space with them will be opening a tasting room as soon as it releases its first vintage, and Lauren Ashton Cellars, another top-notch local winery, also makes their wine there (but their tasting room is up near the Hollywood Schoolhouse). In short, there's some serious co-op-age afoot in Woodinville and this address seems to be ground zero for it. The partner and I tasted at both the wineries that have functioning tasting rooms last Saturday. I'll write Grassie up in a separate review, but here's the deal on Ancestry. If you head over (as you should) be ready to taste a nice selection of both reds and whites. The whites, a Sauv Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chard and Riesling, were clean and easy drinking. All of them were well made, but the real standout was the Riesling, balanced and complex with just the right amount of residual sugar. If I have a qualm it's that all the wines, including the Riesling, were pretty restrained when it came to acidity. I wouldn't call it a flaw or a shortcoming, like I said, they're well made wines, but when it comes to these four varietals, including the Chard, I like them to really sing. As good as the Riesling and its sister whites are, the reds are the real treat. They'll start you with a Sangio which is a nice expression of that varietal but, not to beat a dead grape, a bit low in acid for my taste. It's when the Bordeaux blends come out, though, that everything comes together in a pretty stellar way. Both the La Soeur (Merlot dominant) and the Le Frère (Cab dominant) have got great balance; they're smooth and elegant, easy to drink but still really interesting. The Reserve Cabernet is no slouch either, with a nice punch of fruit and a long finish. If you're lucky, you'll get a taste of a club wine that you can also find in restaurants that'll make you give a long think to joining up. Bottom Line: Head over to Ancestry and you wont get a bad wine in the bunch you taste. read more

My friend and I came here on a Sunday around 1( right when they open). The place is small with only two tables. Luckily we were able to get a seat, but soon the people started piling in. The wine was great! We both ended up purchasing a bottle of the La Souer. The lady who serves us was very nice and ended up giving us 10% off of our bottles. I would definitely recommend coming to this winery, just make sure you get here right when they open to guarantee a table. read more

Honestly, I know little to nothing about wines. A trip to Woodenville to do some wine tasting really wasn't my idea. However, the wines and the Knowledgable staff made this a fantastic experience. They described each wine and how it is made highlighting the different flavor and "hints of ..." Even decided to take a bottle home. Good stuff! read more

After Ancestry Cellars Riesling won the top honor at the Tri-Cities wine festival in November 2014, I contacted the winery to purchase a case of the Riesling. Since I live in Utah they could not ship it directly to me, but were very helpful in sending a case to a friend in Oregon. Nice wines, great little tasting room, friendly and knowledgeable staff with head vintner Jason Morin usually there to serve and answer questions. You know their wines are good, especially the reds, due to awards they have won and the fact that several of the local Costco stores handle them. This makes it nice to be able to pick up a bottle when the tasting room is not open. Like a lot of people, Ancestry came to our attention thru a coupon offer (forgotten which one - LivingSocial or Groupon) and very glad we did. When we arrived the place was full, but the owner was nice enough to setup a table for my group in a back room. He warned us that the room was cold, which we were fine with. My friends and I celebrated my birthday at Ancestry for 2 years now going on 3. We love the tasting my favorite wine is their Savignon Blanc. They don't have it all the time it sells out.
