I had doubts when I first entered but we were limited on time and hungry so we took a seat and after looking at other reviews I decided to try the Rueben, it came with fries and I requested onion rings instead and got both. The Rueben was piled high with corned beef and the bread was toasted crispy which helped keep the bread together as I ate the sandwich. It was a huge surprise and excellent, the onion rings were as very good. Don't be deterred by the appearance, it's definitely a dive bar but the food is delicious.

This dive bar has a great, lively atmosphere, especially when it's busy. We stopped in on game day, and even with the large crowds, the staff stayed friendly and attentive, regularly checking in on us throughout our visit, which really stood out. The drinks were tasty and well-made, and the food was better than expected for a dive bar. The bar also offers video poker, but they were all occupied the whole entire time we were there. I also saw that Anchor Bar offers drink and food specials during the week, plus a daily happy hour, making it a solid spot if you're looking for good value. The only downside is the small parking area, which can be tricky when it's packed. Overall, a great neighborhood dive bar with good drinks, good food, and friendly service. Definitely worth stopping by.

I did not take pictures, I have been to this place multiple times, from lunch to late night drinks and I always have a great experience. Good, nice service, lottery is always a win, strong drinks, decent food, just a good vibe. I'll continue to come here and bring friends!

Always love the wings and the service. This place is always really nice. Good old dive bar feel. There are gambling machines of you like that too.

I like coming to this bar, the drinks and food are affordable and good! The staff is friendly and checks up often if you need another drink. There are video poker machines, and multiple tvs playing sports. I'll be back soon for the Tuesday taco night!

Stopped in with some friends for bloody Mary's and breakfast. The Mary's were pretty darn good let me tell you, not sure what mix they use but I would definitely have another. The food was good lots of it. The bartenders were nice and quick. This is a neighborhood bar stranded in a strange place.

Quality food and speedy service. Place is a bit too dark for comfort. Best chicken fried steak in north Portland.

We feel like they train their employees very seriously and they reflect it in their assertiveness, demeanor and appearance. We arrived at 6. Got drinks at 630. Appetizers at 645 and food shortly afterwards- maybe 7. Overall very reasonable considering how packed it was. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like with all this going on. The only complaint I have (tho it was free!!! So I should not complain) They gave my wife this big banana split for her birthday- but it was after we had all eaten our dessert and were miserably full. So.. I guess I spent an extra $24 dollars on hers and my desserts that we'd been able to split the split had they timed it. Anyway they gave us a nice personal card for her. Pricing and the timing the only reason for less than 5 stars. But likely next visit will be 5. Over all loved it and will be back.

Coulda been a weirdly off night I guess but - The brewpub: I came alone often and either had a great chat with the bartenders or I struck up conversations at the bar with strangers. People from the neighborhood but often people from across the country who came to experience the best brewpub in town. It was on many lists of best of, it was hopping, the patio dominated the intersection. This visit was a quiet late afternoon, notably different and no servers in sight. Which leads to... The food: I came for the nachos. I was bummed to learn that they closed their kitchen. They have another vendor using it which operates via QR code - scan, order, and pay (and tip?) before receiving your food. It's smashburgers and wings. I miss the nachos and the buffalo chicken. I miss the servers. I miss the buzz of a busy dining room. I miss actual service of a sit down restaurant. I don't resent them making changes but if I wanted a food cart experience I'd go to a food cart. And in general, I'm not interested in paying $16 for a burger, no fries, and no service. The beer: this is why you're here, right? Right?! Turns out I do still like the beer but not when it's divorced from the rest of the experience. I can get this beer at bars across Portland and in the grocery store - the special thing about it was the beer AND the brewpub. Also, it's summertime. Where is the Rainbows and Unicorns? Why does the grocery store have the classics and the pub itself does not? Having not been around to support this place I feel bad that I am reporting negatively on the changes. But I also feel like it's important to be real about what you're paying for and what makes your business attractive, and the now ubiquitous smash burger and indifferent service isn't it. However, these are still our hometown boys and a label we love, so FYI - it sounds like the real menu is still available at the Slabtown location for now. If that hood works for you, go get some nachos! And tell em we miss them over at Dekum. Love, Woodlawn
