Met a colleague here for a checkin. The place was hopping on a weekday morning. We found a table near the back door which was a bit quieter. They have outdoor seating as well in the back and on the front sidewalk that looked lovely but it was a bit chilly for outdoor sitting. I had an iced latte and a chocolate chip scone. Both were good. Staff was excellent. Orders were filled quickly. My water bottle was filled upon request. They regenerated a receipt we forgot to ask for. Really nice people. I found an on street parking spot but it looked like there may have been a lot in back. Good experience. read more

It's nicer outside. That's the opposite of what we usually write but true for this attractive location in old town WBL. The quiet patio setting on a quiet part of town, cobblestone makes the difference. Inside just a little stoic but fast service. Limited food options as they have a changing chalk board daily menu. Pastries included cookies and two types of muffins. Settling for the vanilla frosting I enjoyed to sip and enjoy a near summer day. read more

Got the donut latte which is popular at the state fair. Flavor wise, it was subtle--the coffee a bit weak for my taste but I'm used to strong espresso. Fun! Anything in WBL is cute because the entire shopping strip makes me feel like I'm in another world. Anchor Coffee is intimate, built in a farm style home and most recently (my main reason for visiting) is also home to PLNT BSD who serves pop up vegan dishes and smoothie bowls in the back of the shop and has a little exterior window to order at. Inside Anchor you will find large tables which are nice to bring laptops or books to read and there are plenty of hot and cold drinks to choose from including a pretty decent selection of rotating baked goods in the case. The service is helpful and friendly. I recommend going on an off day as weekends can fill the shop up quickly making it less appealing to me. Lastly, this place has a booth at the MN State Fair so if you find yourself not wanting to wait at the fair, coming to the actual location is a nice alternative. Note: they don't specifically advertise if they allow / don't allow dogs but I have brought my small one in 3-4 times going to the back for PLNT BSD smoothie bowls and they have never had an issue. In fact today, the staff gave me a pup cup as I ordered the seasonal candy cane latte. Thank you! read more

Great coffee at a reasonable price in downtown White Bear Lake. The specialty drinks are tasty. I go for an americano most times. The scones are great when I've had them. The breakfast burrito was tasty but pretty small - for the price I probably wouldn't get again and stick to the pastry selection. Parking can be hit or miss depending on how busy the area is. But there is street parking and lots throughout the area. The staff is always very nice. The space doubles as a wine bar at night and can be rented out I think from what I've seen which could be nice for a large group. A good amount of seating with various arrangement from large table to smaller 1 and 2 person tables. There is outdoor seating now too. I would recommend this place if you're in the area. Hit up the book store on the same row while you're at it or walk to the lake. read more

Here this morning for coffee, it was very busy during a weekday morning. Not a ton of bakery options. Just chocolate chip cookies, chocolate muffins and blueberry muffins. Coffee was good, but I would say the chains are better....Caribou or Starbucks and they have many more food options. read more

This 'hometown'-style coffee shop and boutique was a perfect stop with a former colleague. The White Bear Lake/Washington Square area is really nice and the city was decorating for the holiday season. As I usually do going in the first time to a coffee shop, I asked the staff to make me something they enjoy with some flavor. Today I asked for a flavorful hot mocha. They certainly delivered! They made a chocolate and pistachio mocha that had a Mn extremely warm, nutty taste to it. Amazing! The staff was super friendly and was of course entertained that they were making a mystery drink for a customer. If ever in the area, I would highly recommend this coffee stop and if you're up for it, have staff make you one of their favorites drinks as a surprise! read more

This cute and quanty cafe in white bear lake downtown area is a must if you're in the area. I heard it has a good reputation in making some delicious coffees. They have a regular menu as well as a seasonal menu. I decided to try the Mac cold brew (Macadamia nut with white chocolate cold foam) seasonal drink iced and it was really good! The nuttiness and the sweetness of the cold foam really makes for an excellent coffee spring drink. I'm definitely interested in trying their other drinks. Space is decorated cutely, especially in the summer when there's spots to sit. Negative reviews on here seem to be people who want something to be mad about. I have been stopping in here for a number of years. I love downtown white bear lake and Anchor is always a must. In the summer you can take advantage of the patio seating and enjoy your coffee outside or take a stroll through downtown. They have some ample space in there and you can definitely work remote from there if need be. I'm a sucker for caramel lattes and I always get one while I'm here. They have so many different flavors and options to choose from. They also gave some breakfast sandwich's, scones, and some other baked goods as well to purchase. I frequented Anchor while out in Minnesota for work. It's a lovely and quaint little shop. They had some great cold brew and some fun creations for different lattes. On top of the coffee, they offer muffins and other breakfast items depending on availability. The chocolate cheesecake muffin was delicious! To up the ante, the customer service was amazing from the two ladies who served me. If I'm ever back in this part of the country, I will definitely be coming back. read more

This coffee shop located in downtown White Bear Lake is a nice surprise. As soon I walked in you could smell the coffee fragrance lingering in the air. That tells me immediately that they have good quality coffee beans and it must taste amazing. So I ordered the White Bear Latte which was great and since I like my coffee a bit sweet, I usually put 1 or 2 packs of brown sugar, but they had sugar cane syrup. I had to add that to my latte. Oh boy it was worth it. The coffee was already good and adding a bit of sugar cane syrup just enhance the flavor of the coffee. read more

Thought I'd try a nice local place for my chai - never again here. Some of the worst I've tried -I had a bad feeling when I saw that it was made from a scoop of powder from a bag. Great small town coffee shop with lots of potential for growth. Vanilla latte's were done great. Coffee was bold with nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Wish to see owners invest in better "to go" cups, and with logo on them. Gas station cups with great coffee just doesn't work. Also, felt wanting more items on the menu for options. Very cute little coffee shop in Downtown White Bear Lake. We enjoyed the cold brew - it wasn't bitter, but instead it was very smooth. I feel conflicted about this coffee shop. I want to support local coffee shops, but the prices are high and I have never had friendly service there. Never ever. It is some the least friendly service I have experienced at any coffee shop (including both small, independent shops and large chain coffee shops). The college-age gals working at the front counter just don't seem to care much about the customers. Honestly, the best latte I've ever had! I got the almond milk latte and it was so full of flavor. It's hard not to come here everyday to get this magical cup of coffee! Discovered this place after hearing they would have a booth at the State Fair this year. Decided to stop in for cold brew and fell in love with the atmosphere! The cold brew is very smooth, even without anything added... although I'm partial to a little cream or almond milk in mine. The coffee house itself has lots of large tables and cute farmhouse style decor. After my initial visit, I came in a week later and posted up at a table to do some work. Definitely the studious and caffeinated atmosphere I've been longing for since moving back from the east coast! The staff has been helpful and so nice both times, and I genuinely enjoy spending hours here. This place has a sweet small town vibe. It's a great atmosphere to come to grab coffee and a bite to eat. The man making my coffee was very sweet and my coffee was very tasty. I got something called the con miel and it has honey (which I LOVE). There are lots of tables to do work and I like how they have a lot of bigger tables so if you'd like to come with a group, this is a great spot. They have a lot of real food, not just bakery items (although those look very appetizing as well). There's free street parking and a lot in front of the coffee shop as well. My favorite part was the window seats, coming with a great book and sitting in one of them seems like a great way to spend a Saturday! I moved to the area from Seattle just a bit after they opened, and I can't even tell you how absolutely thrilled I was to find an amazing indie coffeehouse so close by (the Seattle coffee withdrawals were real, let me tell you!).
