A delightful strip mall, coffee shop owned and run by a lady from Ethiopia who serves Ethiopian coffee. Bonus points for having decaf coffee and for having something like six or seven choices of sugar-free syrups, including caramel and chocolate so I could make a decaf turtle latte. Yes! Said drink was $7.24, so I took off a star. It was open on Labor Day until 1 pm so I should have added back a star (but I didn't.) :) Boyfriend's review: I thought it was good. What a delightful discovery! Flavorful coffee from Ethiopia! I had never heard of coffee from Ethiopia before and I had no idea that it is soooo good. I also tried their succulent scone and it's out of this world. Baked right in house. Literally melts in your mouth. Perfect texture. The owner is delightful and friendly. The coffee house is pleasant, quiet and there's plenty of light. What a lovely spot to unwind, study, and to relax! I will be back! read more

Stopped here for a Java and a snack before my brother's rehearsal dinner and was pleasantly surprised! I was expecting pretty basic coffee and maybe a packaged protein bar but what I received was a very good steaming latte and delicious pastries. The scone was super buttery - one of the best scones I've had in awhile. I also bought a piece of baclava which I brought home to my husband and didn't get to taste - but apparently very good too. The space itself is pretty function-over-form with plenty of tables and chairs and one small area with more plush seating (which is near the door so it's not a space I'd want to sit for hours). There was more space in the back with tables and chairs near the bathrooms which would maybe be better for longer study sessions, if that's what's called for. They also carry greeting cards. The customer service (possibly by the owner?) was excellent. If you're in this area, I encourage you to stop in and support this business! read more

5 stars! I ordered a large latte with almond milk and it was fabulous! The person working was every nice and the coffee tasted fabulous! I also bought Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans which I haven't seen at many other coffee shops. If I'm ever in the area again, I will for sure stop again! read more

Great coffee! Pricier than other shops with slightly smaller sizes. Their large looks like a medium at a Caribou for instance. A latte this am was $4.85. The coffee is always fresh and has great flavor! read more

I loved this small, locally-owned Ethiopian coffee shop. Stopped in around 10am Monday morning for a meeting. There's plenty of parking, and there is a drive-thru as well. There are several seats, and at each table was a little info sheet on Ethiopian coffee culture. I got a small mocha minus the whipped cream and sprinkles, and it was delicious. After my meeting ended, I stayed to do some work and witnessed several regulars stop in and chat with each other and the shop-owner. This is a great place for a quick stop or meeting up with someone. read more

Went here during my lunch hour to grab a cup of coffee and snack. I ordered an Americano with white chocolate. It was ok not the best or worst. It is not somewhere I would go again for coffee. I also, got a puff pastry. For me it was way to sweet, so I could not finish it. There is a $3 min to use your credit card. They also have a drive-thru if you do not feel like walking inside. read more

I was excited to have a morning of self care, full of reading, and sipping coffee while at a coffee shop.. Didn't end up as I was hoping it would.. I was looking forward to a break when going from one job to another. So I got a latte and a muffin and was going to read a book. The lady was on the phone when I walked in. Basically put it down to take my order then after handing me my muffin went right back to talking on the phone.. She tried to up sell a flavor shot and I kindly asked if it was included. And rudely replied oh no! I honestly didn't know, since I've never been there before. What I hoped would be a quiet coffee shop was instead listening to this lady's conversation the whole time. She didn't try to cover up she was on the phone either or talk quietly. I was looking forward to that classic 'coffee shop' atmosphere but instead I hear an conversation in a different language the whole time. When she finished my drink she just put it on the counter and didn't went back to sitting and talking. Towards the end of my visit it got quiet which I was very thankful for. The coffee itself was solid. There was plenty of seating with a 'back' which is semi hidden if you are looking for a place to study. I did have to ask for the WiFi which I understand. There was alot going on for one person to work. Cash register, drive thru. Making drinks. I never heard a sink once to show we was washing her hands between tasks. Counters needed a good wipe down and floors needed to be swept. Mats needed to be washed. However later some other customers walked in and she was super friendly and provided much better customer service to them then to me. So many it was Overall, the shop is comfy and cozy. Plenty of seats, to sit and catch up or read a book. The place could use a little cleaning, like sweeping the floors, wiping off the tables as the day goes on. read more

I've been there *4 times* and have always gotten the same thing. Ice Americano +1 pump white chocolate +1 pump hazelnut, and a blue berry muffin. The coffee was just ok, the guy obviously invested in a nice machine. The muffin was just ok. That's been my go to order everywhere for the past few years, and it wasn't good, but not bad. The owner isn't friendly, but not grumpy. The place is fairly clean, but not spotless or dirty. The corner location and drive through is primo, but not cozy just convenient. *** One really weird thing did happen. Both times I paid with a card, and the second time he asked for cash. He seemed agitated about it. I told him I was sorry that I rarely carry cash on me. He asked, "Are you sure?" Like I'd really lie and withhold cash or something. I've only experienced someone reacting like that when a cabbie takes you somewhere that's under $10. Strange. Since then The Bru House is my go to for New Brighton. They have a server/barista with an attitude problem, but the coffee is wonderful, the lunch is yummy, and the pastries are yummy. *Hint: If jerks took a moment to slow down and say hello/please/thank you to the staff, they wouldn't react so sourly. Limu brews a good cup of honest coffee that is a tribute to their Ethiopian heritage. Sure it comes in a cheap paper cup, but don't just chug it, do yourself a favor and take time to find every flavor. In a gimmicky coffee culture, Limu is a breath of fresh air. read more

I came in this morning and asked for an almond milk latte. They were out of almond milk, which was fine. Places run out of things. While I waited for 2 other people to meet me I was told I must buy a bottle of water or spend money in order to have the Wifi password. "Do you expect this to be free, we are a small business you need to support us and buy something". Unbelievably rude. No ma'am I didn't "expect" anything to be free. I asked to order a drink and you were out of the ingredients. I recommend you take you business and money elsewhere. read more

I live in Colorado, and have only been here a few times. I might move my review up to five stars once I've come back a few more times. This is a great little coffee shop, in an area where there doesn't seem to be many, other than Caribou and Starbuck's! It's definitely my favorite in the Arden Hills / New Brighton area. read more

Coffee is pure dirt. I ordered a Mocha and it was HORRID! Pure sugar. I saw just how much chocolate was put in my Mocha and it was extreme. We asked for it to be remade and it still ended up being vomit inducing. Cleanliness seems to also be a huge issue. Customer service needs major work. How is this place still even in business? Seriously - do not go here. read more

Update 4/2518: Eva with Limu contacted me direct and resolved my issue by personally refunding me the difference. I really appreciated her willingness to fix the issue. I changed my rating from 1 to 4 stars because they made an effort to right a wrong. Thank you Eva:) I purchased a coffee and sandwich from Limu on 2/3/18 because I wanted to support a small business in New Brighton. I charged it. It came to $9.57. I didn't receive a receipt (my mistake...I should've said I wanted it). The sandwich was not good so I actually threw 1/2 away (it was a English muffin with egg and cheese that was cold). When I received my credit card statement, Limu charged me $95.78. Using the credit card dispute process, they have been unwilling to address their mistake and refund the difference. I am so disappointed and frustrated. I will never do business with Limu again. Please beware when using a credit card at this business. Always get a receipt and save it until your credit card statement comes. read more

Limu is beautiful little corner-spot, and the Baklava is divine, but as a coffee shop, I'd rather go somewhere else. I had the iced white mocha, which when I've had elsewhere is just enough coffee and sweetness to hold me over. However, there may very well have been a fourth to a third cup of white chocolate syrup in my 12oz cup, and that amount of sweetness was a little difficult to get me through the whole thing. I like what the place stands for, and perhaps if I were to have a regular cup of coffee, I'd have thought otherwise on the taste. But for what I tried, I'd go elsewhere to get my fix. Tried Ethiopia coffee, Sidamo, Gugi, Natural Dry, for the first time at a blind coffee tasting at my home, and fell in love with the brew prepared using the pour over method. Just purchased a bag the other day, and although the same exact flavor and notes are not as predominate with this bag, it makes a wonderful cup of coffee. Actually with my 3rd sip, I think it is there! Small shop, but nice location once Google maps and Waze agree on the address. Corner location in the Main Street Shops. Our coffee group will be meeting for their next local coffee shop discovery. Not many treats, but the biscotti were nice, and I was there mid afternoon. Worth my drive to find. read more

This was a great little shop. Very friendly every time I go in, and by the third trip they remembered me! The coffee is above average and VERY reasonably priced, the pastries were decent, but I've only had their almond creme pastry. Very fast and consistent. read more

I was hopeful because there is not much else in the neighborhood. Small shop with only a couple of places to sit. Not somewhere you would want go lounge around and read a book The coffee lacks depth and the pastry selecting is small and not very creative. They are wrapped in plastic so you get the feeling they may not be fresh. Okay if you need a cup NOW but not a destination. read more

My wife and I were on Christmas vacation here just a few weeks ago. Traveled all around Hugo, Lino Lakes and parts of the Twin Cities. Out of everything we did this place brought me the most joy and comfort. The owner is very sweet and her coffee beats anything I've tried in my home state of Utah. She offers organic, fair-trade coffee at a very modest price. We bought a 1lb.bag to take home and we already need to order a 2lb. bag again. Just hoping we can talk her into shipping some. Don't miss this hidden gem of a coffee shop! Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks. read more

The drinks: I got an iced grandmas house with oat milk! There is no up charge for oatmilk! My wallet and stomach appreciated that! The flavor was really good! Unfortunately even with the remake, there seemed to be something off about my boyfriend's drink... I asked for them to take the vanilla out, thinking maybe be it was the syrup. But it just wasn't good. We were also hoping to get the pizza that was there but they only had slices, not a full pie. It was disappointing. Overall this is a nice coffee shop

The staff were very friendly and the place itself is so such a cute cozy vibe! There is a small parking lot and off street parking available. I got the Spanish Latte which was absolutely delicious. It was very hot (which is exactly how I like my drinks!) , just the right amount of sweetness and a very good quality roast. I might just have to find myself in Columbia Heights again soon!

Staff was friendly and despite the constant stream of new customers they were so fast and efficient in getting everything out quickly. Coffee was good, the chocolate chip cookie by Marc Heu was a bit disappointing though (that's not a Dogwood issue though) it just a want chocolate chip cookie-ing. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and dedicated parking is a win in my book. Also love that they partner with Sweet Renaissance for special drinks for the month.
