These are old lanes that have been updated and look great. We bought our balls in the pro shop and had them drilled when they came in. They look and feel great. The manager gave us a free game to try them out. They cater to leagues and seniors. Everyone was having a good time. The lanes were excellent; seats; returns etc were all great. We enjoyed ourselves. Excellent bowlers and great people met during my visit to Anchor Bowling Lanes in Irmo. I was staying at a hotel close by. Everything was going well the first few nights I visited until there was a discrepancy with my debit card (it had a hold on it since I was traveling.) You would have thought I was the worst person in the world that I "owed" them $37 (after spending well over $250 in the pro shop, bar and restaurant, etc.) Austin the bartender and the pro shop owners daughter decide to collude and tell the very rude owner that somehow I "stole" from their tip jar (that is after tipping very well.) They told me to never come back, don't worry honey I never will. read more

Best bowling alley in the area The lanes aren't too oiled or too dry The machines don't always work right but they get fixed when you ask for help Yes I'm based because I hook the ball, but this place is fun anyways. We go to Anchor Lanes for all family birthdays. It's great for all ages. It is always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The price is reasonable. We have signed up for Kids Bowl Free for 4 years. It's a great way to get kids out and moving. The summer bowling has helped them learn how to win and lose and cheer each other on. read more

They advertised 100% smoke-free on their website which was a total lie. Sure the bowling lanes were smoke-free but the bar, open to the lanes, was not. The whole place reeked of new and stale smoke as did our clothes upon leaving. The lanes were mechanically unsound with incorrect scoring and balls not returned. There has to be better bowling alternatives in the Columbia area. read more

this place SUCKS the staff is absolutely terrible my expectations of bowling customer service is already bad but this was TERRIBLE! i felt like i wasn't even welcomed into the arena. the balls were disgusting i watched an employee just put one on the rack after the person who rang me up said that they are always cleaned but there was no spray or rag in sight! also the floors were sticky and dingy, would not recommend this place SUCKS!! read more

I schedule my daughter Bday party here only to see how outdated everything was. Pizza was disgusting and the kids didn't eat much of it. At least the fries that was order was fresh. one of the kids got injured on their equipment and was rushed to the emergency room. The manager at the time stated she was only charging half the price for the party because the little girl was injured and the pizza was nasty. The very next day after they called and checked on the little girl this company charged my card full price for the party without authorization. We went back and fourth with the managers and decided to give up. I do not recommend no one to this bowling ally, they are rude and disrespectful, outdated everything and will not be getting my money ever again!! read more

used to be the place to go, but it no longer is. it's a complete dump and the customer service is absolutely TRASH, and not to add that the manager on duty was sitting behind the desk vaping not even trying to hide it. when I was getting my shoes the employee with longer curly hair had the worst attitude I had ever seen, he looked like I just slapped him in the face. also, the floors are dirty and the bathrooms are nasty and they leak every time you flush the toilet, not a soul on staff was wearing their mask which is completely inappropriate. and not to add the balls are not safe and sanitized, I watched both employees that were cleaning just throw the balls on the rack. this place sucks! would not recommend it. Have been here before. But today our computer froze, as well as the lane next to us. Took five minutes for someone to come look at it. Said it would reset in thirty seconds. Ten minutes later it still wasn't working. Finally had a service guy come. Overall have waited about 20-25 minutes so far. This place has definitely gone downhill since I used to come here. The lanes don't work half the time...annoying when you are trying to have family fun.

The WORST bowling experience I've ever had. We had to wait 45 minutes on a lane (even though there were 5 [functioning] lanes available)--there weren't enough people behind the counter and the one young woman that was there didn't seem to care at all. When we did finally get a lane, it quit working after the first frame. Activating the help button on the computer wasn't enough; we had to go tell the young woman behind the counter twice. They made us wait 25 minutes while they tried to fix it, after which they moved us to another lane whose pin-setter kept stalling! At $15 per person, we ended up being able to bowl for about an hour. (Personal preference note: it's Saturday night after 930, and their idea of fun music is power ballads from a decade ago. Horrible stuff.) It's unfortunate that this bowling alley is the only one in the area. This is the 4th time we've been there; we've only had one good experience there. I believe we'll go to the bowling alley in Cayce from now on--it's true that it's much farther away, however the atmosphere is better/more fun, and they maintain their equipment and actually seem to CARE about providing good business. Don't waste your money on Anchor Lanes, folks. Oh and by the way--the women's restroom is falling apart. read more

Lanes break down easily and one of the bartenders is VERY rude. Too many other places to bowl in this area. I won't return there!

There was one off the clock employee who tried to help us with our constantly malfunctioning lanes, but after he left, it was like pulling teeth to get any help. After the befuddled employee couldn't get our lane to keep score at all anymore, we decided to leave and asked for our money back for our partial game that we couldn't finish. We were treated like we were trying to swindle THEM and accused of having played more games than we claimed. I hate to say the staff was completely inept, because the one young man, whose name i regret not getting, did try to help us DESPITE being off the clock, even telling us that they should switch the lanes we were on, but aside from this young man, its a wonder the place is able to remain open with the way the staff treats the customers. And my chagrin is NOT over the measly 3 dollars back per person we were asking for. I would have gladly payed ANOTHER 3 dollars per game, to have been able to play somewhere that I can go more than 4 frames without having to wait 5-10 minutes for an employee to fix the equipment at the end of the lane. Save yourself the disappointment, and go to one of Columbia's other bowling alleys. read more

Our experience at Anchor Lanes was absolutely horrible!!!!! We went in the early evening on a weekday. Worst service EVER!!!! When we arrived, our first lane was not functioning. It took about 10 minutes before we were switched to a different lane. At first the manager apologized and gave us three free games. I felt much better about everything, but once we moved to a new lane it was all down hill. The mechanism that returns the bowling balls was not functioning. Almost every time we bowled, we waited between 3-10 minutes for the ball to return. We continuously approached the manager who radioed to the workers in the back to keep an eye on our lane. At one point while waiting for our ball to return, we witnessed one worker come out from the back and engage in a game with a patron. When the manager paged him about our issue, we actually witnessed him pick up his radio, look over at us, and continue to bowl!!!! It was ridiculous!! On top of all of that, the pin setter got off track several times causing the scores to be completely screwed up. It was by far the most frustrating time I have ever had bowling. The customer service was unacceptable. The manager (who was the only person in the front beside the kitchen employee) seemed irritated with us because we had to keep coming back to her for help. We will NEVER go back here, and you shouldn't either. read more
