Dear all at Anchor Marine, I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to reach out to extend my gratitude for all that you did for me and my family and the high quality of service you delivered. As you are aware my ninety year old mother had been in possession of the boat you restored for many years. Most of my siblings were of the opinion that the best thing to do would be either to sell it for parts or junk it, as it had been years since it had been used. I felt differently and so did my mom. We both thought if there was a chance to repair the boat and take it out again, it was absolutely worth a shot. Our first experiences looking for help with repairs was disastrous. One individual recommended by a a reliable boat store once under contract took the boat and various parts and disappeared, We had to get law enforcement involved. For over a year we struggled with this getting the boat back into shape was becoming a more and more distant hope. Enter: Anchor Marine. When we first took the boat into Anchor Marine, we were met by the owner Vic Cossette and his incredible team. The boat was identified and respected as not just some old junky tub. It's a Glastron CVX 16 with a 115 motor my 90 year old mother put in it. This boat is the boat that made several appearances in none other than James Bond's Live and Let Die! Vic and his crew went above and beyond. They were determined to bring the boat back to its original condition and the passion that these individuals have for their vocation was evident from the start. Often I would get a call detailing their search as for a part that they felt was essential to its restoration. They went the extra mile simply due to their passing for their work. The boat went from being covered in tree sap and a home to mice during the winter to an unbelievably beautiful restored Glastron. I believe it now looks even better than when it was originally purchased by my mother all those years ago. The boat cannot be taken out without being stopped by admirers wherever we go! It is next to impossible to find this quality of service. Vic and his team treated us with the utmost respect, made time to communicate clearly with us their plans and what they hoped and realistically believed could be achieved. They treated the boat as if it were their own. It is impossible to understate the quality of their work . If I could leave 100 stars I would. This was one of my mother's dreams realized. I had 2 weird accidents with my boat...it broke away from a dock and damaged the bottom, and then a 50 foot tree fell on it. Bad Luck! But my luck changed when I went to Anchor Marine and talked with Vic. They know their stuff, did a absolutely beautiful job and worked with my weird schedule. They worked well with my insurance company, and kept me well informed. Today, the boat looks new and they turned it around on the schedule we agreed upon. Started my windshield repair with Anchor Oct. 24th and finished January 20th. Enough said.Window not OEM quality, cost way over estimate, three incidents of damage to the boat while in lot, glass pieces still in boat. While driving my 18' Lund through a construction zone, apparently a rock hit the folding windshield in the bow. The marina that winterized the engine said it would be about $800 to repair the 18"x18" window, as it is custom made. The boat was taken to Anchor Marine for repair about Oct. 20th. They said it would take about four weeks. The guy said it would "cost $700-800". I asked for an estimate, which I did not receive until I got the boat three months later in late January, 2020. The bill was $1400, almost double. I called Michelle a bit before Thanksgiving and she asked me if I wanted it fixed. Really? No matter how long I paused during the call, she would immediately interrupt me. I tested this hypothesis three times before saying yes, that's why I bought the boat there. With Christmas storm coming soon, I called and said if the snow is too deep I will not be able to store the boat in the barn. Anchor said the window is on order. Fifteen minutes before the New Year's holiday closing I got a voicemail that the boat was ready. Around January third I got a call that the new window was broken. I went to Costa Rica and returned January 22 with a voice mail that I would be charged a daily storage fee if I did not pick up my boat in the next few days. Really? About January 25th I arrived to find the trailer tire flat and the sheer pin for the trailer missing. In addition, Anchor said the invoice was $1900. Anchor then said it was a new employee doing the invoicing. Vic asked me to sign over the insurance checks. While waiting for the tire to be fixed my insurance agent said what I pay is between me and the dealer. Lesson learned, get a written estimate from Anchor before the repairs are done. Pros: Anchor repaired the tire and provided a new sheer pin. The window appears to be installed correctly. Insurance deductible waived. Cons: Repair took three months. The verbal estimate of $800 varied from $1400-1900. Anchor billed three hours for vacuuming the glass yet there are still at least 20 kernels of glass in the battery area. (Yes, I asked when I picked up the boat and assured the battery area was clean.) Questionable business practices about not providing a written estimate and asking me to sign over the insurance checks. The original glass was UV protected, but this is not. Really? For $1400? Hello may name is Rick. I saw a Lowe boat for sale on the internet and it looked just like what I was looking for and the price was great! I had been searching the internet for a while and found a boat close to what I was looking for in North Carolina. But the one I found at Anchor Marine Repair in Delano, Minnesota was just what I wanted. I live in Michigan and it is a ten hour drive so I wanted to be sure it was a reputable company. I checked the Better Business Bureau and I found no problems there. I called and talked to Vic Cossette the owner. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I also talked to Dusty Smith the manager they both were very pleasant. I have never had a boat this nice so to me it was like Christmas morning for a child. I was excited and had a hard time sleeping the night before in Minneapolis where I slept after arriving the night before. Anchor Marine Repair is approximately twenty two miles from town. Sometimes in life you find a business that stands out and is unlike any other. This place is like that. The workers there are very skilled at what they do. Insurance companies send boats there from many states around. I gave them 5 stars, I only wish there were 10 so I could give them all 10. Sincerely Rick Taylor. read more
